Wesley Bryant’s novel “RED: Welcome to Fayetteville” became an online sensation with more than 500,000 reads. As a 20-year-old sophomore in college, his career as a writer launched. Now, with a degree in Public Relations, Bryant is the managing editor for several magazine publications in Tennessee and writes horror novels that scare fans across the world.
Wow! What a gripping read! The story starts off with a bang, literally, and just keeps on handing out the thrills for the whole ride! I was completely absorbed with this riveting book that was just packed with action. You're immediately immersed into a chilling tale of the decay of society and proper humanity as we know it as the characters are forced to revert to the more primitive survival of the fittest and smartest. Teenagers are forced to shamelessly kill or be killed while stay on the move through woods and towns infested with deadly merciless sleeper terrorists. Emotions run high as friends and family are killed or seized and taken to camps reminiscent of the Nazi Holocaust days. Desperation, numbness, hope and betrayal are portrayed so vividly that you actually feel for the characters. Surprisingly, underneath it all, there's actually a quite sweet true love story that springs up and flourishes among all the blood and terror! This book was actually pretty realistic and made me stop and think about the happenings going on in the world right now. This situation can actually happen anywhere, anytime with surprise groups of terrorists ambushing society! It's actually quite chilling if you think about it....
The Sleeper Cells by Wesley Bryant is action packed and never a dull moment. I wish I could say so much more in the review, but I don't want spoilers because you really need to read this book!
Vince is a pretty chill character, but his relationship with Lindsey was making me angry. Actually, she made me angry, for many reasons!
Kennedy is my favorite character, she's strong, beautiful and full of hope and that's why I think she meshes well with the group!
The book was well written, it really sucked you in once you started reading it. The idea of a terrorist group called The Sleeper Cells is scary in a way that makes you feel unsafe at every turn. The situation either made you stronger or lose all hope.
I love this book, I'm giving it 4.5 out of 5! I can't wait to read more from Wesley Bryant!
