The Perfect Life

Rate this book
I had the perfect life.

The perfect husband.
Colin Cassidy—the incredibly talented, extremely gorgeous, and unbelievably humble star NFL quarterback.

The perfect marriage.
Our bond was unbreakable. His support unwavering.

The perfect career.
As the recently-appointed executive director for the Boston chapter of Mending Hearts, a child abuse prevention and treatment program, my daily reward was helping to keep vulnerable, innocent children from being preyed upon and destroyed. It’s all I’d wanted to do since I was a teenager.

Perfect city. Perfect car. Perfect house with the perfect view.

From the outside looking in, it was impossible to find a single flaw in my life. I had it all. Everything I'd ever wanted.

But that kind of perfection came at a price. Demanded the ultimate sacrifice.

What happened when I discovered what I'd been missing all along? When I began to question if the lies were worth protecting?

What if suddenly the last thing I wanted was to be perfect?

Wow, I think I am as happy now as I was when I finished reading Cinderella or Snow White when I was a child...

I have a big goofy grin on my face and it will surely appear every time I think of this amazing book.

So, 5 stars and many more from the bottom of my heart...

***********************************************

Don't let the blurb mislead you!!! 😊

This book was such a big surprise for me, nothing like I ever assumed or expected when I read the blurb!!!

I thought I was getting into a book about a love triangle or a cheating wife whose life is not as perfect as it seems but, oh boy, I was so wrong in my assumptions.

I didn't see where it was coming from or the fact that it was coming at all but by %30, a plot twist that rocked my assumptions and expectations came like a tornado and hit me and from then on, the story unfolded itself like I never thought it would. But, damn, I loved the way it unfolded 😊

What I am trying to say without spoiling it all is that if you are avoiding this book because she is a married woman who falls in love with another guy, just don't - I mean, don't avoid it. Give it a chance...

***********************************************

From some point on, the story begins to get predictable but it doesn’t matter because it is so good to be in their world that you don’t want to finish reading the book – I didn’t. I really wanted to read it slowly, I wanted to savor my every minute with it.

* It was so much fun, so entertaining, first of all.
* It was so emotional, so romantic and so heart-warming.
* It was hot and steamy at times, as well.

***********************************************

I liked the writing style of it. It was told by dual point of view except for 2 chapters. That is the way I like it because I can read the minds of both characters. The way the characters told their story was really fun. Even in their humiliating or desperate moments, they made me laugh out loud.

***********************************************

Both characters, the hero and the heroine are flawless for me, which is something I cannot easily find in novels. They are both so lovable that I wish I knew them in real life and had a chance to be friends with them, hug them or kiss them...

Here is my beautiful "perfect" blonde Monroe ...

And this is my sexy Oliver, with his beard and "bedroom eyes"...

description

No stupid drama!

There were no stupid misunderstandings, no silly behavior or anything that would get on the readers’ nerves.

Both characters were so adorable from the beginning to the end, no matter what happened.

***********************************************

Also, there was something else I really loved about the writing style.

Each chapter began with a quotation or a poem by Christopher Poindexter and they all had mind-blowing beauty and insight in them which you would relate to the chapter that they belonged to...

Here are some:

When we met, we knew- we were kindred souls; people like us only came around once every blue moon and I could not tell you enough how dazzling it was to know that for that night the universe wore a dress the color of indigo.

***

She buried her ears into the calm of his heartbeat, and in a matter of seconds fell terribly in love with the way her loneliness fell softly and suddenly, asleep, in his chest.

***

I will love you, not starting with your skin or your organs or your bones: I will love madly first, your naked soul.

***

I drank her silence like liquor and it destroyed me the same, but I fell for all of her, hopelessly and endlessly. My soul will always be lifted when she walks into the room and my blood will always dance when her breath passes through me.

Maybe, sometimes there were too many details about sub-plots but that was OK for me.

All things considered; I would recommend it to any romance lover who like to read books that include romance, humor and steam all at the same time.

description

description

I would like to thank Erin Noelle for writing this beautiful book and my awesome time with it.

Here is some of the romance and some of the fun...
For the rest, read the book. And please, read the book :)

“With the subtlety of a herd of elephants playing the drums with their trunks, she threw herself at Oliver relentlessly, doing everything but ‘accidentally’ tripping and falling on his lap. Legs spread. Without panties.”

***

“You tell me now, Monroe, ‘cause once I’m in, I’m in until you say I’m out. This isn’t a game to me.”

***

“But hey, I was a straight, thirty-three-year-old guy who had a serious fucking crush on his coworker. Yes, she was married. And yes, I’d foolishly kissed her in a rash and reckless moment of weakness when I’d lost sight of who we both were, giving in to the overpowering need to feel her lips against mine... God, I’m going straight to Hell for breaking no less than three of the Ten Commandments every time I’m around this woman."

***

"It was always easy to want the good with someone, but it was when I realized I wanted the bad with her even more than I wanted the best of anyone else, that my brain confirmed what my heart already knew. I loved her."

description

“You’re so goddamn perfect it scares me.”
“I’m far from perfect, Oliver,” she answered softly, holding my intense gaze.
Leaning forward to rest my forehead on hers, I whispered, “Monroe, when God made perfect, he made you.” Then, I did what I’d been dying to do since the moment I laid eyes on her. I kissed her.

“With my saxophone in hand, I began to play the opening chords of “When A Man Loves A Woman” as I strolled out toward her, reveling in the surprised expression on her face when she spun around and saw me. I continued playing as I approached her, and like the goofball she was, she began dancing around me wearing the biggest smile I’d ever seen. My heart was pounding so hard, so loud, that I honestly feared my chest my split right open.”

***

“It’s the real Greased Lightning they used in the movie... Since this is the first anniversary of Rizzo and Sandy D. meeting, we should celebrate in style.”

Erin Noelle shatters every preconceived notion of what a perfect love story is suppose to be. In this unconventional tale, Erin captures our hearts and minds as she assaults readers with an onslaught of raw emotions. She allows her readers to absorb every facet of love, vulnerability, hope, lust, passion, and second chances that life entails. She gives her readers a story where love transcends everything. Where perfect is just a word. And the only thing that matters is the truth. And the truth is love is something that can't be undone once two hearts beat as one.

 photo 4eccbde90eae35615f73a22d181ad1_zpsvhdjziuq.gif “I prepared myself for the usual anxiety I felt when encountering a one-on-one situation with an unfamiliar man, but it never surfaced. And in its place, a profound sense of fascination filled me. I bit my lip, finding myself oddly excited to be in his presence, and that was the part that unsettled me. Dr. Oliver Saxon captivated me in the most unusual manner, though I had no idea why. And I wasn’t sure I wanted to find out.”

When Erin first messaged me about what her latest book was going to be about, I was excited and yet equally nervous. I knew that I couldn't wait to read The Perfect Life. The blurb alone sold me but I knew Erin would definitely push the boundaries when it comes to this unconventional love story. And I must say, Erin did more than just that. She held her readers hostage as she gave her readers an unforgettable love story that is beyond perfect.

#PerfectLife_Erin

The perfect life. For Monroe Cassidy, she has the perfect life. She has the perfect NFL husband. The money. The fame. The good life. The perfect life. But what outsiders don't know, nothing in her life is truly perfect. Yes, she is married to a good man. A man who treats her with respect. A man that she loves but it is a different kind of love. And so Monroe was willing to continue living the perfect life that is until she meets him. Oliver Saxon.

 photo 4eccbde90eae35615f73a22d181ad1_zpsvhdjziuq.gif “Yes, I was a hot-blooded male who couldn’t help but appreciate her stunning outer appearance, but it was about so much more. She was so much more.”

#perfectlife2

 photo 4eccbde90eae35615f73a22d181ad1_zpsvhdjziuq.gif “I think you’re fucking beautiful . . . more on the inside than the out, though I have no idea how that’s even possible. You’re so goddamn perfect it scares me.”

Oliver Saxon knew it was wrong to lust after a married woman but he couldn't help it. He was drawn to Monroe and like a moth to a flame he was willing to go after her. The lines of right and wrong were blurred and shattered as two hearts were discovering this uncharted territory of what could be the greatest love affair of their lives.

 photo 4eccbde90eae35615f73a22d181ad1_zpsvhdjziuq.gif “If I could only get past the way my heart soared in my chest every time she flashed me one of her million-dollar smiles, or the way my cock twitched with lust-driven hope each time we accidentally touched , then I’d have nothing to worry about for the next six months. If only”

Oliver and Monroe knew their love was true. But in the eyes of the public, it was wrong. But Monroe knows the truth. The truth is a secret that Monroe and her husband have kept for years. It is a secret that would shatter every image of what it means to be perfect. For years, Monroe lived to be perfect. Will she be ready to throw out her perfect life for the perfect man that is truly meant to be hers?

 photo 4eccbde90eae35615f73a22d181ad1_zpsvhdjziuq.gif “It was passionate, reckless, and just plain stupid . But I never wanted him to stop. Not ever.”

#perfectLife1

 photo 4eccbde90eae35615f73a22d181ad1_zpsvhdjziuq.gif “My draw to him was undeniable, an electric charge that whirred through my body each time we touched. He made me want things I’d never before wanted. Physical things, like kisses and caresses and intimacy that used to make my skin crawl.”

The Perfect Life was a love story where its raw characters makes this book stand out from your standard romance novels. Erin Noelle writes a story where the characters are the biggest aspect of the story. Each character encompasses what it means to be vulnerable and exposed. Ms. Noelle strips each of her characters naked and in such allows readers to feel every facet of the hurt, the betrayal, the hope, and the love. In this imperfect love story, Ms. Noelle will awaken hearts, minds, and souls as she gives her readers an unforgettable story. So if you are looking for a book where readers are lost in Erin's gorgeous and heartfelt prose of what it means to let your hearts soar and really love imperfectly then this book is for you.

Monroe Cassidy has the perfect life. Money,famous football player husband and being a driving force in the "Mending hearts" program that caters to children who've been abused. Life is pretty good and nothing or no one can possibly ruin it. Until one night when she meets a certain someone and life as she knows it is going to be completely obliterated.

"He was my drug. All I needed to keep my perfect world balanced and myself grounded".

Colin "Clutch" Cassidy is at the top of his game. Being on one of the best teams,having a loving wife and chasing that superbowl dream, what more can he possible ask for? But there's something that he's always wanted and little does he know,that flame is going to start a huge fire. What happens when the life you thought you wanted was nothing more than a smoke sreen?

"My draw to him was undeniable, an electric charge that whirred through my body each time we touched. He made me want things I'd never wanted before".

This was a very different story than what I'm used to and I really liked that. I was completely shocked at the begining when I realized what was going to happen and I thought I was missing a couple of pages to be honest but once I caught on, I loved that suprise!! Yes it was different but it set up everything for the story.

Now I know I'm being very vague about the storyline but trust me when I tell you,spoilers will be your enemy if you read them so I'm going to refrain from giving them and just you go into this completely blind. I didn't love everything about this story but the way this author portrayed a heavy subject matter and then at the end having it rectify,I loved and appreciated it.

A pretty good book.
I liked Monroe and Oliver together, they were pretty adorable.
But I didn't like how they got together, even knowing that her marriage was fake, I still wasn't comfortable with them flirting and kissing because the hero didn't know it was fake and he still made the moves on his married coworker, but to be fair she also flirted non stop with him and gave him signs that she's interested in him.
The worst husband and boyfriend award goes to colin, he suggested that his boyfriend and wife Should have sex nevertheless I didn't like him and he becomes worse as the story progresses.

The Perfect Life
Erin Noelle
5 stars

So Erin told me about this book almost a year ago. Even describing it I was in awe with the story.

I couldn’t wait to finally see it come to life, and she didn’t disappoint here is my journey into The Perfect Life!

I had the perfect life.

This sentence had me. I sit back and wonder what is a perfect life? The meaning is different to everyone.

The perfect husband, yes she did have that. Colin Cassidy, the extremely hot star quarterback. Not only is he hot, he’s humble, and kind, devoted, he’s all that and a bag of chips! Did I mention NFL??

To the outside world they had everything that she could ever ask for.

The perfect marriage. Our bond was unbreakable. His support unwavering.

They were the picture of envy some might say. The picture of what you wanted to be, who you wanted to love you, how you wanted to act.

Monroe Cassidy also has the perfect career.

Recently-appointed executive director for the Boston chapter of Mending Hearts, a child abuse prevention and treatment program, my daily reward was helping to keep vulnerable, innocent children from being preyed upon and destroyed. It’s all I’d wanted to do since I was a teenager.

I mean come on it can’t be all that perfect looking at her wanting to be her, you only know what she shows you.

Till you meet that one person that makes you look at your house of glass and question everything you thought you know. Making your perfect life not so perfect anymore.

From the outside looking in, it was impossible to find a single flaw in my life. I had it all. Everything I'd ever wanted.

Except when you are standing in this perfect house, with your perfect husband and all off a sudden your perfect life isn’t what is perfect anymore!

The secrets of the past linger on the surface ready to break out. The love of someone out of the blue makes you see that perfect isn’t quiet so good anymore. In fact perfect is lonely, perfect is sad, perfect isn’t complete.

When one touch shows you what perfect is. When one look shows you what perfect is. When one person shows you that what you haven’t isn’t perfect at all.

What if suddenly the last thing I wanted was to be perfect?

In a book that makes you sit back thinking you know everything that will happen and then you are blown away by the struggle, by the survival, by the love that one person can have.

I loved this book right down to my soul. I loved it down to the bottom of my heart. Thank you Erin for showing me that perfect isn’t always what you want. That everyone is perfect in their own way!

The Perfect Life by Erin Noelle
4.5 stars!!!

“and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

I love it when a book catches you by surprise. With this book I was pulled in by the cover and the synopsis and I went in with a preconceived idea of what I thought was going to be delivered within the pages…well…I was so wrong. This book knocked me on my arse in a good way, what I got was SO much more and I absolutely loved it.

We have friends that are married and always seem so happy and perfect together on the outside, to third parties, they have it all but behind closed doors…do they? Everyone can put on an act; it just takes someone special to make it all believable.

Monroe Cassidy did indeed have “the perfect life,” it was perfect to her and to her husband Colin. Colin was a star NFL Quarterback, he was handsome, generous to a fault, had the biggest heart of gold, he was devoted, he adored her, they were the best of friends and he was extremely humble…he really was perfect.

“…he was my drug. All I needed to keep my perfect world balanced and myself grounded.”

Monroe Cassidy was also perfect, she was drop dead gorgeous, she had her soulmate as her husband, she had the perfect house and she had the perfect job, she was selfless and was an inspiration to many. She had people eating out of the palms of her hand. She ran houses for abused kids and she put all her time and effort into fundraising to build more houses and to bring the real life struggles of these kids to the forefront. She was a sounding board for them, a friend, a confidante and she adored everything about her life.

“You and me. We’re a team. To the very end.”
“To the very end.”

It takes one thing to make perfect seem imperfect…what was once perfect may not be perfect forever…

“You make me want things I shouldn’t want.”
“You make me do things I shouldn’t do.”
“You make me ask things I shouldn’t ask.”

As I said Erin Noelle really blindsided me with this one and I love it when that happens, especially when the story delivered was so perfect. This book had me frantically page turning, with a small element of suspense I had my thoughts and theories and I just wanted what was best for both of them at the end of the day. I would love to go into details with this story, I just want to talk about it but for you the reader, it would spoil everything so you just need to take my advice and go in completely blind. Like me, you will probably have your ideas, but they probably won’t be correct. But none the less, you will devour this story, it really is that good.

The friendships within these pages brought me to tears, this group of friends really are the foundations for one another, they centre each other, they are each other’s confidantes and the trust that they have within their group was faultless and implicit. They would literally lay their lives down for one another.

Erin Noelle delivers a poignant story with some great banter, great dialogue and a plot that was unexpected. I loved every single thing about this book. The prologue immediately pulls you in and then leaves in you in a forever state of hyperawareness just waiting for it to kick in. This is a book that made me think and made me reflect on the life of Monroe and Colin. I admired what they had and what they had achieved but I was also desperate for more for both of them. Love is such an amazing thing in all its guises and this book showed that down to the bones. It was such a beautiful story, I shed many tears but I had a lot of laughs too and that goes to show how perfectly balanced this book was. So why not five stars…personal preference, I wanted more at the end and I have everything crossed for more from two particular characters in this book. Kudos to Erin Noelle on delivering something different, something unexpected but most of all something perfect. Totally LOVED it.

(I highlighted so much in this story, but way too many of them are spoilers, so I am vague quoting so I don’t spoil it for you.)

Love that heals 5 classic stars

*An ARC was provided for honest review for Wicked Women Book Blog*

When I read the prologue, I was scared, I didn’t want to read on, not because it wasn’t good. I just knew it was going to wreak emotional havoc. I raged, I screamed, I glared, I swore and then I swooned, I aww’d, I laughed, and I panted.

Monroe Cassidy had the perfect life. She was married to her best friend, Colin Cassidy – the very gorgeous and unbelievably gifted NFL quarterback, who was also her rock, her champion, her savior. Their bond was unbreakable. With her heart of gold and love for children, Roe worked tirelessly to help defenseless kids. Her dream of having her own safe haven for these abused kids made her the perfect champion for Boston’s very own, Mending Hearts. Yes, Monroe’s life was perfect. Or was it?

As the story started, I was swept away by Roe’s perfect life, I loved how Colin was with her, his love for Monroe endeared him to me. Then there was Seth, his sister, the family, Allison, the kisses on the forehead. All these were just the calm before the storm. A storm so strong that Roe was swept away, away from her perfect life.

And then there was her work at the new Mending Hearts which brought Sax into her life. Sweet heaven, that man was perfect. He was simply PERRRRFECT. The right combination of nerd and handsome. Their friendship was sweet, hilarious and exhilarating. I adored how Sax’s goofiness helped to break down Roe’s walls and build a friendship that would change their world forever. A friendship that would heal and make them both whole.

There were moments in this story where I went nuclear mad, and moments where I was a puddle of mush. Roe Cassidy's story was a perfect blend of calm before an f-5 tornado that wrecks everything in its path. At one point, I screamed OH MY GOD because I just had a feeling and my intuition was bang on. And then the whole phone call scene with Sax and his niece. I was literally rolling in my bed, I had to hold my tummy cos it was hurting so much from laughing. And then there was the sweet-hilarious moment where Sax sits with his mother and reveals his secret and the whole reference to Mo and Danny.

One of the things I love about this book is the hero, he was THE alpha, no doubt about it. He was real, honest, goofy, smart, hilarious, sweet, understanding and for me that's alpha. And then there were those perfect little quotes by Chris. Holy swooniness in heaven. WTH! Each of those words hit the chords seamlessly in my heart because they were in perfect harmony with the chapters. Erin Noelle has written an incredibly perfect story.

When the truth about Roe’s past comes out, how she met Colin, and their life together, I was left feeling there was hope. Because there is light to be found even in the darkest of situations. Then there was Seth and his role in Roe and Colin’s lives. Allison’s little heartbreak and then the whole Saxon family story.

My heart was full and ready to burst, I was mad yet happy and giddy, far from the girl who was scared at the beginning to read on. And then the whole thing blew up.

When your life is perfect, can you really trust the people closest to you? Because the darkness is just waiting to strike you're perfect ray of light. I cried after I was done reading. It was a major freaking touchdown that beat all touchdowns. Thank you, Erin Noelle, for Seth, Colin, Jojo, Roe and more importantly, Sax.

Move over General Hospital and make room for The Perfect Life! I have never (clutching my pearls) experienced drama quite like this. Geez Louise, talk about secrets and lies.  WHAT IN THEE F*** DID I JUST READ????? I feel like I can't even really write this review without giving away the shocking storyline.

Let's just say everything is not always as it seems. There are secrets, lies, loyalties, fraud, manipulation...so much manipulation, pain, heartbreak, embarrassment, shame, altamatums. I could go on and on. I couldn't put this down. I wanted to talk about it, tell someone about this book. How do you let this happen? How do you become a slave to your life? What happens when you change your mind and want out? Just...read it, you'll see!

'You make me want things I shouldn't want. You make me do things I shouldn't do. You make me ask things I shouldn't ask.'

The Perfect Life – is there such a thing? One person’s version of ‘perfect’ can be completely different to anothers. Have you heard the saying ‘the only people who know what is going on in a marriage are the people in it.’ I think this is very true. This is just from personal experience. I remember a friend confiding in me about things that had been going on in her marriage and I was completely gob smacked. I would never have guessed the extent of the issues she was dealing with. This basically is the premise of this book.

Monroe & Colin Cassidy have the ‘Perfect Life.’ He is a star quarterback and she is heavily involved in fundraising and giving her time to abused foster children. They are both stunning in appearance, gracious in person and support charity with great enthusiasm. These two met in college and hit it off straight away, which eventually lead to marriage. They are also each others best friends and deeply love & respect each other. Sounds like they have the Perfect Life right?

Behind closed doors is where this story really begins and it is not what you think it will be. They both have very different pasts which play a part in how they came to be and it is so refreshing to read such an interesting story like theirs. There are several other secondary characters that also play a part in Monroe & Colin’s story and they are as equally important people to this ‘Perfect Life.’

Such a different, unique plot and I really enjoyed this!

I can't review this without spoiling it...

Monroe's life seems so perfect. She's beautiful, has a rewarding job, has a wealthy, handsome, famous star football player who adores her.... the twist comes about 25% into the book. Turns out, the husband, Colin, is gay. It's a marriage of convenience for the two best friends - for security and appearances. Colin is in love with his childhood best friend Seth, who becomes tired of hiding and Monroe falls in love with her new coworker, Oliver.

The romance between Oliver and Monroe, is sweet. They become friends first while trying to fight their attraction to each other. The flirtations continue and their relationship escalates. It was pretty sweet. The only problem for me is that the author kind of over sold Colin to me. For some reason, despite him being selfish - I liked him better. He seemed hotter to me. Silly, I know. His whole situation just bummed me out - that he felt the need to hide his true self for so long. Seth called him out on how unfair Colin was being to both Seth and Monroe, but I think he was also unfair to himself. He tried his best.

In the end, its a happy ending all around. It made me smile. Descriptions of Oliver just turned me off. "Silky long waves" (his hair was long) And the references to Grease were cheesy. Fun, different and quick read.

WOW! That was just perfect the only complaint I have is......I want more!!!

Erin has covered two very different subjects and she has done an amazing job. Colin & Monroe both have secrets and are living the dream outside of the home but not in it. The way Erin has wrote this captures every emotion possible and fills you full of hope. Its a page turner.

But I want to know what happens to Colin?? Will he be getting book??? I hope so x

When I get a new Erin Noelle

Beware of believing what you see. There is often much more, much different, below the surface.

Monroe is all surface. She is married to an NFL quarterback. She works in a great nonprofit. She gets dressed up for galas. She goes to NFL games and sits in the private boxes. Surface. Surface. Surface.

Colin is the sexy quarterback husband. His focus is football, the Super Bowl, and more football. Notice that Monroe is not in the top three. Now don't get me wrong. Colin is a great guy who loves Monroe. But Colin is also operating on the surface. Lord help if anyone got under the surface of Colin.

Olivier is not a surface guy. He is a deep down guy. He cares about abused kids. Deep down. He plays the sax to relax. Deep down. His hipster vibe is exactly who he is. Deep down.

Now lets stop right there.....using your counting skills, I know you count three, 3, III, characters there. I know what you are thinking...."I am not reading a cheating story. Nope. Not gonna do it." Well cool your jets Betty. This is NOT a cheating story. There is no cheating.

Olivier shows Monroe that there is more to life that the surface. He helps her scratch and claw to find out who is the deep down of Monroe.

It was passionate, reckless, and just plain stupid.

The Perfect Life is the story of letting go of the surface. No more numb. But you know that tingly feeling you get when your foot falls asleep. Yeah that feeling. That's the numb going away. And it hurts.

As long as you give me you and I give you me, the we just comes naturally.

Ms Noelle has given us a beautiful, heart breaking story of finding yourself. Finding who you are under the surface. And letting the ones you love see it. Fall into it. Together. And inspiring others to find themselves. Deep down. No more numb.

Life isn’t perfect no matter what the outside looks like. We all hide behind the façade that we want others to see. That is absolutely true for Monroe and Colin Cassidy. Living in the spotlight as a New England Patriots football player and a fundraiser for a children's charity means showing the world their best side at all times.

I fell in love with Monroe and Colin’s story almost immediately. The love flows from the pages so easily. I laughed and cried and shouted to my friends, “you MUST read this book now!” The underlying premises that run through the book are not easy for some readers. But if you connect to it, like I did from the beginning, you’ll read without stopping. Laundry, food, everything else ignored!

Monroe has a good life with Colin. He loves her with all he has. But something is missing. She loves him so deeply but she can’t ignore feelings that are starting to surface in her. Their lives will ultimately be changed based upon the way she acts or reacts to those feelings.

“Why risk it all for something that could or couldn’t amount to something worthwhile and significant? Why take that chance?”

This is a question that I’ve asked myself so often. The answer for me is LOVE. I would take that chance, make the change and risk it all for love. To know what it’s like to have someone love me from the depths of their soul. To be my person. This book is so much about love, finding yourself and what you’ll accept in life. It pierced the inner walls of my battered and bruised heart in the best way! Love is what makes the world go round and one day it will find me. Until then (and after), I’ll hold tight these amazing stories that the authors share with us to keep us believing… in LOVE! ~ Heather, 4.5 stars

~~~
Monroe Cassidy had what seemingly was the perfect life. Married to Colin "Clutch" Cassidy, a pro football player of the Patriots, they both are influential members of society. Whether it was Monroe's stance on child abuse or Clint's religious and moral stand point, they had to be seasoned pro's when it came to the limelight. After three years of marriage, they mastered the art of only allowing the media to catch glimpses of their 'reality'. That is, until thing get complicated when Monroe finds something she didn't realize she was missing.
I had no clue what I was getting into when I picked up The Perfect Life. Not only was this book beautifully written, Erin Noelle masterfully kept me on my toes with wondering what could happen next. It was chock-full of romance, sexual tension and an abundance of good humor. At one point in reading this book, I may have snorted from laughing so hard. The Perfect Life was created to have dark moments among the light. Right when you felt like there was too much emotion taking you on a ride you weren't ready for, Erin instantly threw you some of Monroe's spunky sass that could turn any gloomy situation into something positive.
I have to be vague to keep the integrity of the story line intact. Believe me when I say I wish I could tell you everything. This book is worth gushing about. From the plot twists to the Grease references, it really is an outstanding read. Just do yourself a favor and pick up The Perfect Life, you won't regret it. ~ Kelly, 4 stars
~ 3.5 - 4 Not Everything is What it Seems Stars ~
I have some mixed feelings about this book. This is the third book by Erin Noelle that I have read. I loved the storyline and the fact that she tackled some serious subject matters with such grace and ease. I thought the flow of the story was perfect and the pace worked well with these characters. I LOVED most of the characters we met in this story. There were a couple characters that I just didn’t warm up to (Colin and Effie). I will say that I was left with a question regarding Seth by the end of the book and wish that would’ve been answered in the epilogue, but I still really liked this book. Now just so you are clear, after me saying that, The Perfect Life is a Standalone novel with NO Cliffhanger ending!!!!
One thing I do feel I need to express is that, if you are not a fan of love triangles or cheating in your books, then this might not be the book for you. I can’t really explain why I say that without spoiling the story, just know that those two factors sort of play a part in this storyline. I’m sure that there is going to be a difference in opinion on these two subjects, but in my opinion, I feel both cheating and a love triangle are present in this book. With that said, as a person who really doesn’t like cheating or triangles, this story didn’t bother me so much because of the extenuating circumstances surrounding these characters. I still really enjoyed this story.
What leads me to have mixed feelings on this book and took away from my enjoyment the most was Colin. I found that I couldn’t connect with his character much. I found him to be selfish and hypocritical. You’ll understand once you read this book, why I feel this way. I was glad to see that his character changes for the better towards the end of the book, but it was really too late for me by then. So he is the reason I gave this book a 3.5 star rating.
As for the 4 Star part of my rating, that is based on Seth, Monroe, and Oliver. I loved these characters so much. This could’ve been a 5 star read for me if the storyline would’ve solely been based on these characters. I can’t explain why I feel this way without spoiling the plot of the book, so I won’t do that. Just know you will fall in love with these three characters.
As I said before I really loved the message the author is trying to express in this story. Life is not perfect and you need to not worry yourself with what others will think of you, just be the best person you can be and everything will work out in the end. As she wrote in this book….The TRUTH will set you free!!!
I would recommend this book to people who don’t have an issue with triangles or a fine line on what is considered cheating. I do feel that everyone should read this book for the strong message built into the story, but the above aspects could take away the true enjoyment of the book, if you aren’t a fan.
Plucked from the headlines of today’s professional sports world to a quick between-the-lines glimpse of the book blurb, it’s fairly clear from the inception where this one might be heading. Even so, Erin Noelle presents readers with what looks like a romantic triangle that might not be one – and what sounds like a whole lot of cheating – but again, maybe not at all. Sometimes what you see and what you’ll find are two very different things. One thing is for sure – you’ll find one heck of a story from start to finish!
Monroe Cassidy and Colin Cassidy look like the perfect couple on the surface. Everything about their life appears near perfect. But it’s what lies beneath the surface that truly matters. And when Oliver Saxon enters the picture, perfect becomes slightly imperfect. Each of these characters will cast their spell upon you. You’ll find it hard not to love all three -- and at times dislike them as well. Each one has wonderful traits that are worthy of your love and respect. Their lives walk a thin tightrope between right and wrong and those perfect images might shatter with one misstep.
Erin Noelle excels in surprising her readers by taking a slightly different path – one less traveled. Her wounded and broken characters are diverse and are a sure bet to keep you mentally and emotionally engaged. An even blend of laughter and romance-at-its-best often spills over into the poignancy that is reflected in the main event of this story.
This is a life story of the many beautiful sides to love – and the many ways we find it in our lives if we're lucky enough.
The Perfect Life is by turns funny and poignant, where sometimes love is a cage that both traps and protects, and sometimes it's a beautiful discovery that sets you free.
My five star review of The Perfect Life
Every time I read Erin Noelle, I am blown away. That this is the lady I virtually stalked only three short years ago. Fourteen books later- damn, 14! Here we are. All of those books culminating with her best work yet. And please don’t take this lightly- I beta read for her, and I wasn’t at all digging the beginning of the book like I usually do with her. Typically I am all in, from page one, but for some reason- not this story. This story was all about that slow build. And as I read, I completely changed my mind about the beginning and I was wowed even more. The beginning was needed as development; she was setting us up to gain true respect and understanding. These characters lived through some crazy things, and told some crazy stories. The plot was well developed, and well thought out. The book as a whole worked- in every way possible.
“She was exactly like I expected her to be. Yet I still wasn’t fully prepared for the impact she made when I met her.”
The stars of this story are Colin and Monroe Cassidy. They met in college, and had been inseparable ever since. Colin is now in the big leagues, with the NFL, and Monroe, the saint that she is- in the process of building a home for children who really need it, called Mending Hearts. Everything about their lives is perfect. Perfect relationship, perfect house, perfect cars, and perfect jobs. Perfect facades… And I won’t discuss any more details than that. You just have to read for yourself….
“I couldn’t have stopped if I wanted to. Monroe had hijacked my mind, controlling every thought and action.”
I didn’t know what was waiting for me when Erin told me I had a new chapter, I kept waiting for answers and story lines to fall into place, and when they did- it was absolutely divine. It was a unique and very different love story then I was used to, but a love story all the same. There were quirks, and the banter was totally there.
“I bit my lip, finding myself oddly excited to be in his presence, and that was the part that unsettled me.”
The growth of the characters over the course of ninety nine thousand words happened in leaps and bounds. We see all the sides and facets of Monroe, and we really get to delve into her character. There are twists and turns, bumps in the road you will never see coming. I can never ever say “If you’ve read one Erin Noelle book, you’ve read them all,” because that will never be the case. I am fully entranced in different ways- each and every time I read one of her books. All in all, you will be captivated from Once Upon A Time, to Happily Ever After.
Oh ERIN!!!! Girl.. You know how to get me right in the feels with every single book you write.
Let's talk first about this cover.. It's FABULOUS. (I mean, Erin has the best covers but this one is so beautiful)
This story started a little slow moving for me.. (To be fair- EVERY book has felt like this to me for some time) But around 40% I was like...WOOOOOOW... Where is this going. And the entire middle of this story had my stomach in complete knots. I hate when you root for something that in your own real life you know is "wrong" and you probably wouldn't but I NEEDED this book to go the way I wanted it to or my life would be over. Erin really set the bar with this story. It's SO different. It's pushing boundaries like Ms. Erin LOVES to do but just when the boundary is verging on too much for me, she reels me back in with her beautifully written poetic writing.
Monroe- GAH. I love her name. I love her dedication. I LOVE her period. And Colin, God love his heart I hurt for him .. ALOT. We live in a world where people's expectations are ridiculous and the life he lives because of that just isn't fair.
Let me tell you about people with "The Perfect Life" <- it's NEVER what it seems. Not one person on God's green Earth has EVER had a perfect life. EVER. We ALWAYS want what we can't have and always believe the grass is always greener. We live in a world where we "show" people what they want to see and hide what they don't. I'm guilty of it.. I connected SO much to this book. We all can take a HUGE lesson from it so do yourself a favor and READ IT.
Last thing, as a Christian woman sometimes books I read interfere with what I believe to be true in my faith. While I don't want to push my beliefs I want to make it very clear that this book is the very definition of who I am as a Christian. We are called to LOVE everyone and Monroe and Colin are PERFECT examples of what that truly means.
5 stars for another outstanding Erin Noelle novel. The start of this story had me nervous but girllllll knocked it out of the park with this one!
The Book Boyfriend series is one of our absolute favorites so when we saw the blurb and the blurb for Erin Noelle's newest book we couldn't wait to get our hands on it. We were so excited when we dug in, but at the end we just couldn't connect with this story as we hoped we would.
The prologue quickly reals you in. No doubt about it.
We all know that saying, "Everything not as it seems."
Well, this book has a lot of secrets that are slowly revealed through out the whole story.
Meet Collin and Monroe Cassidy, America’s it couple. He is the rockstar of NFL, she is Hollywood royalty. They’re beautiful, happy and successful. What more could you want? We couldn’t help but swoon for Colin from the start, he is hot, sexy and supportive to Monroe.
As we read on things starts to unfold, secrets unravel. And we quickly learn there is always more the story than we are allowed to see. A game changer enters the perfect life of the couple that is adored by many.
Monroe is busy starting a new chapter of a charity close to her heart and during the process, her life changes.
She trying to navigate through the murky waters of her new feelings without getting hurt or hurting others in the process.
"My draw to him was undeniable, an electric charge that whirred through my body each time we touched."
What started as a promise became a world full of secrets and regret. Commitments were made but the question arises, is it worth it?
"One word that would change everything.
One word I couldn't take back.
One word I wanted to say again and again."
While the premise of the story was fresh and promising, we questioned the decisions made by the characters often.
Overall we enjoyed this one but couldn't fall in love as we hoped we would.
This is NOT what I expected, and that's not a bad thing. It just hit me with something... unexpected. I liked the surprise.
The reviews do a great job hiding spoilers, which I will also try to do in an effort to allow those who plan to read it to be just as blindsided with the storyline as I was.
I really liked the story and the characters. I like that this is a lighter, funnier book than those good-but-depressing books I've read from this author. This one tackled some moral issues that some people take very seriously and put a human twist on them. I think it was done well.
I loved the main characters, Oliver and Monroe (her, not her name). I didn't really like Colin that much until the end, but I adored Seth! He's the friend everyone needs.
So, why didn't I give it four stars? It got really preachy in a spot or two. Don't get me wrong; it fit, and I understand why the author chose the path she took. However it just seemed a little forced, like being beaten over the head with the point she was making. I don't disagree with the point made, but I do disagree with the forcefullness with which it was delivered.
I'm hoping there are some more lighter, humorous books written by this author in the future. She tells a fairly decent tale when she's not trying to depress me for weeks.
Ah I loved this! I loved the relationship Monroe and Colin had (till he acted like a tool), I loved the relationship Seth had with them, and I absolutely adored seeing Monroe discover what true love is. I also loved how strong the characters are, for themselves and each other. And a special mention for Oliver, never before has a geeky but hot bloke made me swoon quite the way he did, with no alpha caveman in sight either ♥
I really don't want to say any more because this is a book that you need to go into with no spoilers, but please don't be put off by the idea of cheating - just go in with an open mind, I did and I'm so damn glad of it. The author did a brilliant job with timing the reveals so as to keep my interest, even down to the Grease references that had me snorting at times.
This would have most definitely been a 5 star read if one of the (to me) major issues had been resolved, I felt it was left up in the air. Even a mention in the epilogue would have worked and made me a 5 star happy girl.
4.5 - 4.75 Everything is not as it seems stars.
I have read almost all fourteen of Erin Noelle's books and have been a fan from her first book Metamorphosis.
She always manages to give the reader the feels in all of her books. This time when reading The Perfect Life, I noticed the shift and change in her writing. Such growth. Her characters in this story were beautiful and from the first chapter to the very end, you loved them and wanted them to find their HEA. Sometimes though, what appears to be the perfect life is not all that it seems and can come at a dear price.
Noelle, spun a tale of love and cultivated out of true friendship and loyalty. The story was different from anything she has done and different from anything else out there. It was definitely fresh. It's one that draws the reader in from the get go.
Follow Monroe and Colin Cassidy as their perfect life becomes clearer to the outside world.
The Perfect Life is well worth the time to read. The whole range of emotions is felt when reading and i absolutely loved the secondary characters and hope that there is a story for Seth.
Monroe Cassidy had the perfect life all set up for her as she had a loving husband , a stable life and she was the head of Mending Hearts in Boston which was a centre for abused children and her marriage bond was unshakeable. All this was her life as long as she played along as behind doors - her marriage was a sham, but not in an evil abusive way. The thing was that her husband had a secret and behind closed doors, the secret was lived. All she had to do to keep her perfect life was play by the rules and since Colin - her husband was her soulmate , this was easy for Monroe as no-one had ever cared for her as much as Colin had. All was well with the world until the night of a fundraiser for the new Mending Heart houses in Boston where Monroe met Dr. Oliver Saxton whom was busy working at the Chicago branch of Mending Hearts and soon would be spending alot of time with Monroe on getting the new house up and running. Monroe has never wavered or felt the need to break the rules, but as she spends more and more time with Oliver , she starts to wonder if living by the rules is in fact the way to live and whether or not living her perfect life is the right way to be ? As she has never expressed unhappiness or feelings towards another person until now ? What will happen when someone from Colin and Monroe's past decides to hurt them as she wants Colin ? What will happen when "The Perfect Couple's" life is exposed to the public and truths, lies and secrets are revealed ? Will this be the push that all parties of the marriage need to realise that living their so-called life and what the public percieve to be perfect isn't healthy and that in order to grow , they need to become the "real" them - a thing that neither can be with the other person ? Not to give the story away, but I liked the theme of this book as it got me wondering, as it is a tale I have seen far too often between best friends (male and female) in books and movies whether it could work in real life or not ? The other thing that I loved most about this book was the charity work Monroe did with Mending Hearts, as a dream of mine has always been to do something like this but unfortunately wasn't a field I could easily move into or have access to. The Perfect Life is another awesome book with a great cover to match by Erin Noelle.
I have read a few books by Erin and even though they are so different from one another, they wow me just the same. The writing is flawless, the characters are always more than I expected, and hook me in instantly. I knew when I read the synopsis, I would love this book. I needed to know the details behind the mystery of this couple...
Monroe and Colin have the perfect life. They are soulmates. Monroe is Colin's rock, and Colin is Monroe's big teddy bear. Colin is an NFL Quarterback and Monroe is the director for Mending Hearts House, a home for abused children. They are the America's Sweetheart Couple. They could do no wrong. Monroe knew her life looked perfect from the outside. That was the plan and it was working flawlessly until she met Oliver Saxton...
Oliver knew Monroe was married but their was a pull towards her that he hasn't never felt before. She was beautiful, genuine, and funny. She got his quirkiness but he knew the attraction wouldn't and couldn't go anywhere. She was married to Colin Cassidy, football star. He was out of her league, and even if he wasn't she was married. He was not the "other guy" type. He needed to find a way to work along side with Monroe to set up a new home in Boston for Mending Hearts House and head back home to Chicago where he has his own home to run. He could get through the next six-months, right? Over the next few months, their friendship and attraction is tested. And it's a fun ride! It's also an emotional and swoon-worthy one.
I loved this story because it was such a surprise! Everything is not what it seems. Don't judge a book by its cover type of stuff. This book hooked me from the very first page. The characters are not perfect but are amazing! They all have to figure out if being perfect is worth the price they are paying.
Overall...I highly recommend reading it! It's unique, beautiful, fun, suspenseful, heartbreaking, and breathtaking. I laughed, cried, and so hoped for a happy-ending for everyone involved.
P.S I loved the poems at the beginning of each chapter. Thank you Erin for another beautifully amazing book!
5 Perfect STARS
The perfect life, the perfect wife, the perfect house, the perfect career. Yeah, too much perfect for one person but maybe there's no perfect love. Sad, I know. Sometimes life takes you to places you never thought you'd be but follow through with what feels right at the time.
This is the story of Monroe, a beautiful young woman, who could have any man she wants. Monroe has a heart as big as the ocean, she's someone that you would want in your life.
When Monroe was in college she dated a guy named Colin and he is absolute perfection, well I certainly wouldn't change him and I don't think Monroe would either. They are soul mates, they adore each other completely. Throughout this story it was very clear how much they meant to one another but and isn't there always a but, something real was missing, especially in Monroe's life.
Colin's best friend Seth makes up this fabulous trio. We hear a lot about all three in this book and I never wanted the story to end. I am hoping this Author decides to write Seth's story because these characters are worth reading about.
When Oliver is introduced into this story, I started to think oh boy! hello extra complication. You know what it was all worth it. Every last detail, every last scene, every character, all perfect.
Now I know, I haven't given any spoilers out and that is not easy when I am bursting to tell you all about this book. This is a must read, don't even bother adding to your TBR, download, you will not be disappointed. This is the first book I have read by this Author and her writing is outstanding. She completely drew me in. I fell in love with all the characters bar one and thats the way the writer intended it.
I would read this book again and again. I will be on the look out for more books by this Author that's for sure.
Thank you for such a fantastic story Erin Noelle and I am begging you please write Seth's story. I need to know. LOL!!
