Wow! Another winner in the Housewife Assassin series! This novel picks up where the last one left off - with Donna being forced to work for the Quorum to secure Jack's release. While this is a stand alone novel, you will enjoy it so much more if you've read the prior book, "The Housewife Assassin's Tips for Weddings, Weapons, and Warfare." While this book is still filled with humor, it also contains many poignant moments as both Jack and Donna reflect on their relationship and lives.
As she normally does, the author includes helpful marital suggestions at the beginning of each chapter. They are guaranteed to make you laugh or have a restraining order issued against you (should you be foolish enough to follow them).
I've read every book in this series and have loved each and every one of them. I keep buying them as long as the author keeps writing them. This is a must read for fans of the genre.
The books in this series keep getting better and better! When it seems impossible that Acme could keep up with demands made on Donna by evil villain Eric, they come through with astonishing methods and results. Many times I held my breath while reading, and each time the feeling of relief that Jack or Donna was once again safe made me have to stop reading for a few minutes. I think my adrenaline spiked! :)
Obviously this is a series that HAS to be read in order. You wouldn't want to miss anything, nor be confused by the latest crisis! If you are new to the series, stop and get books 1 through 11 first, then this one. A fun and exciting series that you won't want to miss!
Simply put, I loved it. I have been waiting to read this book since I finished the last one, however I kept putting it off. Why? Because I knew one I started it, I wouldn't be able to put it down. I knew the next installment wouldn't be out for a while, but I couldn't take it any longer. It was sitting there taunting me: read me, read me. I broke. Yes, I read it today. Josie, you have done it again, grabbed my attention from page one and held it through the end. Bravo Josie Brown!
I was afraid I might not like this book since Donna was going to have to work for the Quorum, but I was wrong -- loved it and look forward to the next book.
This was another great installment of the Housewife Assassin series. I give it 3.5 stars, upgraded to 4 due to Goodreads not having a half star option.
As usual, Donna was hysterical, brilliant, sarcastic, vulnerable and kick-ass. Same for Jack. What I love most about Donna is her crazed loyalty to Jack, and how much he's earned it. They are such a sweet couple fighting the evils of this world together, and we should all strive to have something so solid amidst the chaos.
On a critical note, I wasn't in love with the plot. It set up the book's action to be very singular, with no room for fun side jobs or dalliances. Donna and jack were each narrow-minded and deadly focused on their respective tasks. Their was no opportunity for any Family Stone shenanigans. I was happy to see that the Acme group was featured prominently in this book, however. Although I didn't love the storyline, I was interested in how it would end, albeit a bit conveniently.
Sitting in the house hiding from the coronavirus has its benefits, and the best is to be able to read just about all day. And what better reading material than another Josie Brown novel? The Husband Hunting Hints has a harder edge than the other books I've read in the series so far, but it still has its funny parts and the action is exciting. The bad guys lose and Donna Stone, now Craig is still a sexy, deadly opponent. Like all the other books in this series, this is a book you won't want to put down. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
I loved this series! Mom by day, assassin/honey pot by night. Can’t get much better than that! I loved the humor, personalities of the characters and the series really gives you it all: romance, comedy, and messy motherhood
Really well done! I was wary of having Donna be doing things against her principles, but her contact with Ryan, getting her team onboard, and working inside with the Quorum was tops.
On the other end, Jack's survival skills and help from a guard and Lola helped him get on El Maestro's good side, and eventually helped him escape. Written from Donna and Jack's POVs alternately, this read was fast paced, exciting, and always leading to the logical conclusion of their reunion.
Even the last bit with Eric and a nuclear bomb auction was cool, as was the lead into the next book. Probably my new favourite in the series.
