On the surface, Taryn Pearson’s life seems perfect. No one sees how her past casts shadows over her present or senses the rage she fights every day to conceal. Total self-control has kept her safe, but it’s also left her isolated. Before transitioning from graduate school to her career as a lab assistant, her aunt urges her to be bold, expand her boundaries, and try something new.

Photographer Rafael de le Sente escaped the barrio and demons of his youth, but he can’t outrun the consequences of his adult actions. Rarely able to separate work from pleasure, his licentious leanings finally cost him his biggest client. Rafael deigns to take on Taryn as a student for a price, proving his professionalism in the process. Almost immediately, he knows he’s doomed. Here is a woman who keeps his interest and tempts his libido. Every lesson further challenges her discipline and his control. Taryn may be just what he’s always longed for – an equal – but letting someone in so closely challenges his nature.

Rafael never wanted love, Taryn never desired a lover, but they’ll need each other to finally bring their lives in to focus. Frame by frame, they move closer to accepting the pull between them. Every camera flash drags more of their pasts into the light, bringing them closer to a photo finish with fate.

Killian McRae would tell you that she is a rather boring lass, an authoress whose characters’ lives are so much more exciting than her own. She would be right. Sadly, this sarcastic lexophile leads a rather mundane existence in the San Francisco Bay Area. She once dreamed of being the female Indiana Jones, and to that end she earned a degree in Middle Eastern History from the University of Michigan. However, when she learned that real archaeologists spend more time lovingly removing dust with toothbrushes from shards of pottery than outrunning intriguing villains with exotic accents, she decided to become a writer instead. She writes across many genres, including science fiction, fantasy, romance, and historical fiction.

This was one of those books where I wasn’t sure if I would like it in the beginning but luckily I did end up liking it.
This was a very emotional roller coaster ride of a book; it takes you all over the place with feelings.
I really did not like Rafael at first, he seemed very shallow and single minded but the more we get into the book we learn it is a facade for him and there is much more to him than he lets on.

The story line was very good and I enjoyed the characters and all of the emotions and different issues. Some of the story dragged but I got through that . It seems a lot of authors need to repeat themselves and that is boring. Over all I did like reading this book.

Passionate. Emotional. Witty. Snapped is a wild ride. The journey starts with two damaged characters who believe there is no redemption for themselves. As the story progresses we are able to see the view points of different characters concerned for their futures, which adds depth to the story. Killian has delivered a masterpiece with Snapped! We are taken on an emotional roller coaster. I didn't want to put the book down once I started. As soon as you think you know where the story is going, we are thrown a curve ball. Through their love of photography Rafael and Taryn are able to understand each other like no one else. Snapped is an exciting, fast paced novel full of passion, heartache, healing, and a bit of mystery. Highly recommended!!!

A reasonable story idea, though not overall my cup of tea. I liked the idea of the two troubled souls who find and heal each other, but it was a little cringey to read in places (a whiff of Fifty Shades about it) and also a bit repetitive with the photography analogies/theme.

Beyond a couple of errors (e.g. your/you're), I couldn't really tell this was an amateur writer as the standard of writing felt quite high. The choice of some words and phrases felt a bit more intelligent than your average trashy novel too.

The book itself is quite good if you like that sort of thing, but it wasn't really for me.

Note: I won this in a Goodreads Giveaway.

This is a book that I couldn't put down. The suspense of the slow unveiling of Taryn and Rafael's past that haunts each of them unleashes in a horrific way. The banter between Taryn and Rafael had me laughing out loud, and the twist had me saying "holy s*!t" No spoilers here, but I did not altogether see that one coming. Side note, I need a Barry the assistant in my life, can I get that?

It started out a little slow but ended up being a good book.
