Ghassan Kanafani was a Palestinian journalist, fiction writer, and a spokesman for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Kanafani died at the age of 36, assassinated by car bomb in Beirut, By the Israeli Mossad

Ghassan Fayiz Kanafani was born in Acre in Palestine (then under the British mandate) in 1936. His father was a lawyer, and sent Ghassan to a French missionary school in Jaffa. During the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Kanafani and his family fled to Lebanon, but soon moved on to Damascus, Syria, to live there as Palestinian refugees.

After studying Arabic literature at the University of Damascus, Kanafani became a teacher at the Palestinian refugee camps in Syria. There, he began writing short stories, influenced by his contact with young children and their experiences as stateless citizens.
In 1960 he moved to Beirut, Lebanon, where he became the editor of several newspapers, all with an Arab nationalist affiliation. In Beirut, he published the novel Men in the Sun (1962). He also published extensively on literature and politics, focusing on the the Palestinian liberation movement and the refugee experience, as well as engaging in scholarly literary criticism, publishing several books about post-1948 Palestinian and Israeli literature.

لا أنصح بقراءة رواياته كاملة دفعة واحدة...
مقدار الأسى الذي يسببه للقارئ بسبب كم المعاناة التي تحويه معظم رواياته لا يمكن تحمله
كافة رواياته تنقل صورة أو أخرى عن معاناة الفلسطينيين التي تسبب بها احتلال فلسطين وتنقل هذه المعاناة بصورة واقعية رهيبة
كل رواياته ما خلا "الشيء الآخر" أو من قتل ليلى الحايك مرتبطة بالواقع الفلسطيني المأساوي
وكل رواياته تعاني من خلل واحد هو تداخل الشخصيات فلا تعرف من الذي يتحدث ومن الذي يعيش الخبرة وهذا الأمر مزعج جداً لأنه يقطع تستلس الرواية - نلحظ هذا التقاطع والتداخل في كافة رواياته - ما خلا رواية الشيء الآخر
يبقى الواقع أن غسان كنفاني روى القصة الفلسطينية بصورة مهيبة

قصص واقعية ، عميقة ، لا تخلو من رمزية كنفاني التى لا تفهم أحياناً
لغة رائعة ، حية ، كأنها تتطور وتنمو وتستمد من احداث الحكايا حياتها

رواية برقوق نيسان رائعة جداً ، وإن كانت غير مكتملة
تترك بداخلك عدة احتمالات لصياغة نهاية للرواية
كانت هي آخر رواية كتبها ، استشهد غسان
وكان قد توقف في أوج لحظات الرواية
وكان حتى لم يختار لها عنواناً .
وتم اختيار عنوان لها بناء على احداث القصة

غسان كنفاني, كاتب وروائي ورسام وصحفي فلسطيني, اغتالته يد الغدر الصهيونية بتلغيم سيارته في بيروت عام 1973م, عن عمر السادسة والثلاثين, له ثلاث روايات اشهرها ''رجال في الشمس", والعديد من المجموعات القصصية والكتب النقدية, يعد بالنسبة لي واحد من افضل الكتاب العرب, ولولا عمره القصير لكان اتحفنا بالمزيد من أعماله الخالدة التي قرأتها كلها بدون استثناء.

Ghassan Kanafani, a Palestinian writer, novelist, painter and journalist, he was assassinated by the Zionistic killing machine by bombing his car in Beirut 1973 when he was 36 years old, he has written three novels, most famous of them is "Men in the Sun", and many other short stories collections and critical books, for me, he is one of the greatest in Arabic literature, and if he had lived more, he would have given us more of his immortal works, which I have read all. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤
