This is the final episode in this trilogy to what has been quite an emotional roller-coaster for Maple, and not only her....I felt it too, particularly in this last instalment. Maple is off to the Stable; Raul is angry because she is now one of THEM, to be sold and never to be seen again. Though he shouldn’t, Raul tells Maple that it was Rachel who built the stable and started the business, teaching J.B. everything he knew, and this revelation surprises Maple. Although J.B. tries to persuade Maple not to become a pony, her mind is made up; it is something she needs to do for herself, even though J.B. doesn’t totally understand why. A new pony, Brie, wants J.B. and lets Maple know she will win him off her – she even looks like his ex-wife. Maple begins to feel like an outcast in the Stable, as the other ponies side with Brie to make Maple’s life unbearable; more so, when J.B. begins taking an interest in Brie – does he have a crush on her? Reece has come to paint the ponies and is surprised when he sees Maple in the Stable. Reece tells her she is up against terrible odds, but he will fight her corner, offering her a back-up plan if she needs it. Brie is a threat, not just to Maple personally, but to J.B. too. - Maple will not let that happen. Maple is confused when J.B. tells her that he is going after Tony and Gus, but they send him on a wild-goose chase, while they head to the Stable to steal the ponies and cause as much damage as they can. Maple finally realises what Tony, Gus and Brie are up to, and she now has to be strong enough to thwart their plans. This story was very well-written, had lots of interesting facets to keep the reader interested, and I would have no hesitation in recommending all three books in the series. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
