Kenzie's life was perfect from the outside looking in, but what no one knew were the secrets that she was fighting hard to hide.
Things were complicated until she made contact with a pair of grey eyes that would change everything about her life.
Dre aka Gunz wasn't really looking for anything or anyone because his focus was on making money. That was until he laid eyes on Kenzie. From the second he saw her face he knew that she was going to be his.
The only problem was that he wasn't sure if his life was something she could handle. Only time would tell, but as far as Dre was concerned, they would have to figure it out because Kenzie was already his.
Gun sales and family secrets play a role in their fate but Kenzie and Dre are determined to find a way.

This was defiantly a good book. I felt So bad for Livy she went through so much. I loved Si he looked out for his sisters. There dad was something else I defiantly did not like him. I like Dre and hopefully his relationship with Kenze work. I'm on May to part 2.
This new series that KC Mills has started is really good. As with anything new sometimes it takes a minute for you to buy completely in, however I think Ms. Mills may be the exception to this rule. I felt an almost immediate connection with McKenzie and as outrageous as Lizy's antics were I felt her pain flowing off the page. It was as if as damaged as she was you still wanted to try any and everything to save her because she didn't have the strength to do it herself. It was heartbreaking to read about people who are supposed to be the upper echelon of society dealing with something so taboo its typically relegated to the dredges of society. What Ms. Mills accomplished was to show us money doesn't guarantee values and morals. I can't wait for Si to make his father pay for old and new and while I might sound a little bloodthirsty, I hope it is a nice and slow and not a clean fast death. While I understand a little why their mother stayed in the marriage with a monster, I just can't justify allowing my children to be hurt for status and money. Some things in life are worth much more than money but it will be interesting to see how this continues to play out. Kenzie and Dre seem destined for one another. He is the lost little boy with no blood family who had to acquire one through Q and BRI, and Kenzie has blood relatives but the very ones who were supposed to protect her tried to destroy her very being. I love the dynamics of their relationship and can see that they are in for a uphill journey with their love. I just hope they have what it takes too withstand all of the foolishness that I can imagine is going to be thrown their way. As always Ms. Mills did not disappoint. There are just some people who find their way and jump head first giving it 100%. Ms. Mills is that person, she never holds anything back in her books and leaves us anxiously awaiting her next great masterpiece. If you've never read her books before you are truly missing out because quite frankly she is taking the world of urban literature by storm and I see no end in sight!!!! Go out and get this book it is money well spent!!!
First of all their Father is a very sick man!!! I had sooo many emotions reading this book... I felt the sisters sadness and pain.. I think Dre teaming up with Q & Menken is going to be something serious!!!! I love how you added some of my favorite characters!!! I can't wait for pt. 2!!! A must read!!!
I loved it! This genre is my guilty pleasure and KC Mills is a talented writer, and now one of my favourites. Love her style of writing. This is my second KC Mills; the first was Hakeen and Tasia, which however this is better written and had me glued to the screen. Though I preferred H&T to Guns and Kenzie.
Apart from the colour (within the race) politics, which seems to go on in KC Mills’ books - H&T was all vanilla complexion and this one is ivory or persian or whatever going on - it was very entertaining and I finished it very quickly - shorter than I expected.
The story
24 year old Drew aka Gunz is an illegal firearms dealer, with a bit of money laundering on the side (his club business), meets 20-s00n-to-be-21 years old Kenzie who is an exotic light complexion beauty - she kinda mentioned Persian as well - so I'm feeling a hint of Kim Kardashian as well. Hey- it is what it is. Let's not forget her perfect body. Kenzie always mentions her perfect body…. oh and her curly hair with messy buns.
Dre falls hard for her. Then again I think he chose her so not sure if he actually loves her. Anyway, maybe cause now he's made it (in a street way, and sort of legit) he needs to upgrade to something lighter for his arm candy, so he dumps his lover, Roni of four years, who has 'held him down', for this wench.
Our man Dre is very big on looks - he's only 24 years old. So with him, it’s looks first plus body, personality second – actually I doubt that ranks high on his list. I think that’s why he gets into women trouble – Kari, Roni and perhaps Kenzie…we shall see.
And its easier to dump Roni (though he gives her a house and fat bank account) than going for relationship therapy and figuring out his issues (he has plenty). Then again Roni is emotionally unstable but so is Kenzie – so I’m unsure about his choice in women. Maybe that’s his type.
However, Roni was probably now a tad too dark for his image - just saying – how can she compare to this Persian African American Italian beauty who is exotic when Roni is pretty in an average way. Yeah right. Okay she cheated as well. :D. But so did he.
In typical Dre Gunz style, he jumps from one female to another. In a way you get to find out that is his pattern with relationships.
I liked Dre - he was serious, to the point, and in control - never hid who he was. He was kinda faithful (but it’s still the honeymoon period so we’ll have to see). Being a businessman, he’s super organised and takes his responsibilities very seriously. He also has very high standards, which is admirable. If he had legal job and made a clean living, he’d be the perfect young man to take home to your parents.
On the flip side he was also very conflicted about women. This is probably because of his age, how he ends his relationships (his heart never really closes on them), and lack of a positive role model in his life. He has a soft spot for all of them. He might be hard but he's also emotionally vulnerable.
I felt there was going to be a lot between Kari (buy the book to find out), Kenzie and Roni. Then there is his potential twin. So it's gonna burn, pop and explode!
As for issues: he also had a colour complex because he hinted to his friend Quran that maybe women played him because of his light complexion, and only trusted two people his foster mother and Quran. Oh dear. I don't live in the states so I don't know if there is any truth to it.
Next is Kenzie. She is a survivor of abuse and incest, which Drew finds out, so at some point he plans to defend her honour by taking out her father. That will probably be in another book. I kinda feel this was put in to make her more sympathetic and likable. I preferred Tania who had ambitions and wanted to go places. Kenzie just turned 21 in the book, and she is a tad bit immature and behaves it as times.
Kenzie's family - the Dominis - are pretty messed up. Namely because her mother we discovered pimped her children for money (so they could get the trust fund). Despite an ivy league education - which 99% of the human population can only dream of- when she discovered her husband was a monster did she leave him and get a job? Nope. To maintain her luxurious lifestyle, she sat on her ass; let the man abuse her children so when they were 21 they could be rich. Ivy League education opens doors, so it says a lot about the woman.
The way I see it, with her so called Ivy League education and class network, she could have done better. And maybe that was why her parents put that clause in. It’s a test in a way. I know it’s fiction but KC Mills has a way to showing her characters up. Generally she reminded me of the film Precious and the mother character Monique played, but richer.
Oh well, thirsty bitches everywhere! And in a way, she gave the thirstiness to her children. There is a strong moral somewhere even if KC Mills doesn't say it outright.
Anyway, this poor excuse of a mother, made Kenzie into a woman whose ambition was to put up with horrible but luxurious lifestyle until she inherited her trust fund, her sister into the A-Town whore - (I'm surprised STIs aren't a theme), and her brother into a cold blooded killer.
KC Mills shows what some people will put up with for money, and how the choices of Kenzie’s mother conditioned her children. Let’s face it Kenzie for all her upper-classness and shelteredness is now some glorified street brother’s whore or hoe.
It ticks all the boxes of the good urban street novel, where the men are hard, take fear as a symbol of respect, and pull out guns at the least provocation. Classy women all turn 'ghetto hood rats' when they think someone threats to take their man, and chicks spend all the day in the mall shopping for Gucci, Prada and LV!
Loving Kenz and Gunz relationship. He fell for her pretty hard and pretty face. Roni crazy, I could never try to kill myself over a man. Their father is disgusting, I wonder what's going to happen to him. I love how Si plays the big brother role to protect his sister. I hope livy gets it together before its to late
Definitely a good read , alot was happening i can't wait until they handle her father ! Does Dre have a twin ??? Well about to read part 2 and find out !!!
The ending had me a little concerned but my boy Dre was true to to his word, when he is done he's done. Sad parts-Livy and Kenzie home situation. Disturbing part-Si thirst to kill. As a parent I really felt bad for the kids' mom, however, was the trust accounts really worth her kids' safety and sanity. I mean look at Livy she is a mess. A rich mess. Dre, Q, and Bri had a fun relationship. You could feel the closeness and love amongst them. And Kenzie fit right in. Nice story. It was really refreshing, no cheating, no ex girlfriend fighting the new girl in the club. Thanks KC.
I liked how Dre went after what he wanted and was honest from the beginning. He came out & told Kenz what he wanted. Now they are together & happy. Livy needs to get some help to deal with what her dad did to them. If not she will never be happy. It's a lot of secrets that Si is keeping from his sister's wonder how they will feel once they find out. Q and Bri seems to be a cute couple but wonder if there is some secrets somewhere in that relationship. On to part 2 to see what's going to happen cause edits a lot that needs to be said and told. Good job.
This was a good read not your typical hood love but it will hold your attention. Kenzie, livy, and si are each other rocks, after the abuse their father put them through. Si manages to protect his sisters but has secret of his own. Livy is a wild child letting her abuse take over her life. Kenz is still green but they protect her. Dre enters kenz life as her new protector and with secrets of his own ...go read and find out the juice.
I love the book but I already knew it would be K.C. always drops that fry! I like Dream and Kenz together I think they compete each other...Also Quite and Bri I think they level each other out I he's ex's are going to start popping up and the street are about to get crazy, I think this book was the calm before the storm!
2nd book from this author that I've read and she does have potential, however this story was lacking something and had grammatical errors. The storyline is good and like all the main characters especially Si. Livy needs to slow down, Gunz is a likeable character but I feel like in the next installment he will get himself caught up with Kari.
I love the way you interact your character's from your other books. Kari is up to something. I wonder if that girl is related to Dre? I wonder if Menk, Q and Dre going to take over Miami? I love Kenz, Livy and Si sibling bond.
I enjoyed reading the story but didn't like being thrown off base by the unnecessary errors in spelling, grammar etc. Does anyone proof these stories before they are released?
Love Dre and Kenz....Bri and Q.....the story was different in a good way. This was interesting and the characters seemed so real. The different things going on all came together...can't wait for part two.... KC Mills you NEVER disappoint...Get this FIYAH ASAP!!!!
I like this author the more I read. Dre n Kenz I just love. What a messed up father kenz Livy n Si have. Bri n Q I like too. Love a good thug book. Well written storyline on point. Looking forward to pt 2!! Well done must read.

I'm loving this. From the beginning I was drawer in! Let's see who takes over but I'm also interested in seeing who gets a hold of Si and the girls father first! It this girl Gunz sister and how will the ex Kari falls in place with this.
I love dre and kenz together and q is soooooooo funny this was a really good book I knew it was gone be a series but I am glad it didn't end on a bad note
I am loving Gunz and Kenz together. I am also loving Si and Livy and Quan and Bri. I like how Cam and Cane is mentioned in the book. Can't wait for pt2.
