In 2020, Marine Captain Daniel Miner (with friends and family) barely escaped the terror in America, and fled to Hawaii. In 2022, they narrowly pulled through a harrowing rescue and deadly storm. In 2024, they are subsisting day-to-day under the oppressive thumb of the murderer, traitor, and newly elected governor, Kevin Baker.
Stripped of his rank, Danny is now a fugitive—a sniper in the crosshairs of another determined marksman—doing all he can to evade the merciless dictator.
He could run. He could hide. But Danny’s weary heart and shoulders carry the hopes and future of those he loves—of Hawaii and America, too. The reluctant hero holds a game-changing secret…and he has a plan. He knows what will happen if he doesn’t act on it. But no one knows the outcome if he does.
To say this book was adventuresome, addictive, and informative would be selling it short. For anyone interested in dystopian scenarios or possibilities this is a must read. Mr. Hayes propels you into an unreal world where the unimaginable happens. (Or, could it?). It has a fair share of violence, but that is integral to the story. On the side, I would like to congratulate Mr. Hayes on not peppering his rhetoric with vulgar language. I am sick of books that think if there is adventure, vulgarity follows. This book could be read by teens, but only if a parent thinks the teen could handle the subject matter. All in all, one of the best series I've read lately!
I chose this rating as it is well deserved of nothing less than that. I've read all three books and was wowed. I simply was engrossed to the point of neglecting everything else. The writing was spectacular, believable, creatively spellbinding. I highly recommend reading all three, you won't be disappointed.
Ok read, 3rd in the series was not as nail biting, page turning as the other two books. The Danny and Baker situation was dragged on for too long. Glad the series is over. Was hoping for a better ending.
