James Bond is in Berlin, alone, unarmed and with no idea of the forces ranged in secret against him. If he can make it to the Embassy, he might survive for a few hours more. But he's getting into that car with that woman, which means he has only minutes to live...

Warren Ellis lives outside London, on the south-east coast of England, in case he needs to make a quick getaway.
James Bond goes to Berlin. As soon as he lands he is nearly assassinated by a female agent. It seems there is a Doctor in Berlin who is doing cutting edge research for the British and American governments. He needs some help dealing with rouge elements that work for him and 007 is here to help. Doesn't seem like much goes on in this issue, but it is the set up for what I am sure will be an interesting story. There is a great scene where 007 causes a lethal accident and then walks off from it carrying his luggage. But this is mostly about 007 going to Berlin and meeting the field office there.
This is the second issue of the new James Bond series I've read. It is not bad. Warren Ellis channels Bond fairly well and while updating the character, he still keeps that essential style that is James Bond. The artwork isn't bad but it isn't great. It "works" is the best adjective I can give.
Still waiting to see where this story goes. But, so far, not too bad. As a James Bond fan I am willing to see where Warren Ellis takes this. If you are a Bond fan then I'd recommend this one.
This more of a literary James Bond than movie version though there's hints of movie versions in it. Bond starts his mission trying to track down what 008 was doing before he died. It leads him to modern Berlin where he meets private intelligence operator who is trying to kill him. He out maneuvers the contractor who escapes. We also learn more about the drug called Varger which is very similar to the real life drug Crocodil found in Russia
Like the first book the second installment is packed with action. The art work is great. In the second book, Bond catches a flight to Berlin, the Lufthansa flight touches down from Berlin Embassy station Dharma Reach contacts Bond and takes him to her car, with her armored glove tries to kill Bond.
Since, I've been reading the Fleming books over the last year, this comic I would say has taken us back to the literary style Bond story. Showing us the darker side of the character as Fleming intended. With Masters style of art (Batman) it definitely adds to the mood of the story. Ellis' writing is top notch as always.
This series is getting better and better. What starts off as a low key mission just suddenly jumped in scale in terms of danger, not just to Bond, but the whole world. I like the pace of the story and the MI6 spy action.
Bond meets his partners in Europe how are rather annoying and also meets with a scientist how is into prosthetic limbs. He has a tip for the drug lab. Once again a great action sequence in the beginning but the rest of the story is nothing special.
