I began to think that perhaps the time had come for me to write a book of my own-a book that would convey some wisdom I’ve learned sitting not at the feet of the Dalai Lama but even closer, on his lap. A book that would tell my own tale-not so much one of rags to riches as trash to temple.
Rescued from the streets of New Delhi by the Dalai Lama, an abandoned and injured kitten became the household pet with many names ranging from HHC (His Holiness’s Cat) to Rinpoche (precious) to Snow Lion and Mouser depending on who is addressing her and their mood."It was his habit to ask visitors if they minded having me in the room. Some humans, it seems, are afflicted with an allergy that must be as devastating as a violent reaction to, say, Belgian truffles, Italian coffee, or Mozart."

"Why should His Holiness not have a cat-if, indeed, "having a cat" is a correct understanding of the relationship?"

"If we are wise, the greatest problems can lead to the greatest insights."
