If you want to know whether or not to continue with the series... I'd say maybe.

Why maybe? Because while this is entertaining in that way that all Keiko Suenobu's works are, this does occasionally get a little grating at times. Unlike some of the other series that focus on survival and the psychosis that so frequently emerges when people are cut off from civilization (and thus seemingly from reproach), this is very limited in scope. It's a shorter series, but at times I can't help but feel that this could and probably should have been wrapped up in a smaller amount of volumes. The series still has things to offer and this (and volume 4) both have that Jerry Springer type of entertainment, but at times I just wanted it to get on with whatever it's going to do. Some of the elements feel slightly forced and unnatural.

Granted, we're used to Suenobu being overly dramatic with her content and very over the top, but this really does occasionally run the risk of being a little too much of a good thing. It's essentially the same thing that made so many people lose interest with Life, which had a lot more going for it and could drag itself out far more easily.

That said, I still want to emphasize that this series is fun to read. There will always be a level of entertainment at putting a bunch of people into a small space and letting them do as they will. For all of the problems that come from her overly dramatic story lines, Suenobu does such a good job at keeping you interested despite the amount of eye-rolling you'll do as you read.

I'd recommend this is you absolutely loved her other work and the previous volumes of this series, but at times I can't help but feel that if I'd not purchased the other volumes I wouldn't have really bought this one. (In other words, my completionist nature is more of a drive here than the re-readability factor.)

This is a pretty good series. It's suspenseful, creepy, and fast-paced. The art is a delight; it's both detailed and expressive.

Enjoyable. Not funny exactly; more a kind of survival drama involving some kids who have survived a bus crash.

This volume was teetering on a 2-star review for awhile, largely because of Morishige. It occurred to me that her whole "I'm the leader, and I decide who eats" setup didn't make any sense. Yeah, they're all stuck without immediate rescue, but it should have dawned on even the most panicky of them that eventually someone will find them, and they'll go back home. So, maybe threatening to murder your classmates with a scythe if they don't do what you say isn't such a good idea, because it's going to come back to haunt you, when you return to the real world. Like, jail time-haunt you. Once I really stopped and realized this, Morishige's whole character started to fall apart, in terms of believability.

Toward the end though, we do get an explanation for just why she's so fixated with regaining control and power over the other students. It's not a terribly creative explanation, and her actions still seem wildly overblown, but it goes at least a little ways towards making her seem like a real person again.

It's that backstory, coupled with an ending that really raises the stakes, that led me to bump this one up to 3 stars. Limit is still nothing groundbreaking, but it's still managing to hold my interest.

This series is really quite dark, but good. A feature I like about a lot of manga that I am reading, including this one, is the inclusion of a plot/character summary at the beginning of the volume, it is useful for keeping characters straight.
With an added character in this volume it seemed as though things would start getting better, but of course there has to be a twist. There was also inclusion of backstory which helped in understanding of characters, and also scenes that switched to the parents, which I also liked.
I am looking forward to continuing this series and seeing where it goes.

Like the new character introduced! Pretty terrifying set up for a story, I don't know how I would survive in the mountains without food. I would just hope that I've absorbed enough survival knowledge from watching my Canadian hero, Les Stroud, on Survivorman as a kid 🤩 we haven't really seen how the kids have made their fires besides having enough paper fore starter from bookbags from the smashed up bus...but even then, how many kids brought books to their camp trip?

This volume was mostly positive, but I don't expect that to last. We have learned more about the main characters except for the newest one.

~4/5

[Read more at my blog, Geeky Reading!]

You know, I almost didn’t pick up this series, because I was already getting so many others. Now I’m really glad that I did. Because this is really good.

Morishige is just dwindling farther and farther down the rabbit hole of her emotions. I really dislike her, and she’s seriously psychotic right now, but I’m being optimistic in that she’ll get better. We got a really good hint at what happened with her in the last volume, but we got a full picture this time, and it was as expected. Meaning really bad, and I feel for her, and I hope she tries to see reason soon.

Something bad is happening with Usui, but I won’t spoil that, because it’s rather major. Haru seems to be getting better, but is still a little iffy. Kamiya seems to be getting better as well. We got more info about what the school knows, and I really liked seeing the parents, and hope to meet more of them in the next volume. And I really like getting that other perspective.

Then (Spoiler!) we met a new character, another survivor, Hinata. And I love him. He’s adorable and sweet and cheerful. I love him. But I’m also wary that something’s going to happen with him, because I really want to keep loving him.

This series is intense. I’m loving it. I really want to find out more about each character, like their back-story and family life, as only some of them have been explored and I want more. I can’t wait to read the next one.

I swear, this series just gets more and more ridiculous -- everything from contrived plot elements (there's fog so helicopters can't search for the survivors!) to hackneyed characterization (psycho girl wasn't just bullied at school -- she comes from an abusive family!). As survival horror goes, this is even more ridiculous and unbelievable than Aphorism and Assassination Classroom and there isn't even anything supernatural in here.

Hands down to Keiko Suenobu for creating such twisted plot. Skillfully playing the characters' emotions like they were really real living person trapped helplessly in dire situation. When I reach the end of this volume and found out what happened to one of the character, I was almost like screamed, "WHAT THE F***!!" This gets more interesting!
