Addison Cavanaugh had one rule: Do not date hockey players. So kissing the newest trade to her dad's team should have been off-limits--even if he is hot enough to melt the ice.
After being traded in the middle of the season, Bane Bannister wasn’t looking for trouble. In fact, he’d been strictly instructed by his new coach to stay out of trouble and away from women. Too bad the only woman he’s interested in happens to be the coach’s daughter.
Is the hunky hockey player enough to make Addison break her only rule? Is the new player worth the shot or is she is risking her heart in a game she can't possibly win?

Worth The Shot is book two in The Bannister Brothers series by Jennie Marts. This is a sexy, sweet novella featuring Owen’s brother, Bane.

Bane Bannister, part of the fearsome duo, The Brawling Bannisters, is being sent to St. Louis for a possible trade to another NHL team. On the plane, Bane meets a woman who touches something in him that he has never experienced before. Neither of them know just who the other is but the connection that forms is the real thing.

Addison (Addie) Cavanaugh is the St. Louis Blueshirts coach’s daughter. She’s been in Denver for a job interview and is on her way home. Sitting next to her on the plane is the most gorgeous guy she’s ever seen and he’s scared to death of the rough plane ride they are experiencing. While she soothes him, a connection is made.

When these two realize who the other is, a possible trade to her father’s team and she the coach’s daughter, they are shocked. But that connection is still there. Only Addie has promised herself, no dating hockey players. And Bane’s new coach has told him, no drinking, no fighting, and no women. He wonders if this includes his own daughter?

This was so cute. I really enjoyed it. I’m loving meeting these Bannister brothers. This was a quick read and I loved it so much. I read the series out of order so I have already read the third book but it features the third Bannister sibling, Jack in Skirting the Ice. This is a wonderful series and if you enjoy hockey romance with swoony heroes, then perhaps this will be for you!

A fun sexy read, to heat you up this winter. I was laughing out loud while reading. This book is definitely Worth the Shot!

Rules are meant to be broken on both sides. Addison has a rule, do not date hockey players and Bane has a rule from his coach, No booze, no women and no fighting. Life is more interesting and exciting when rules are broken though! Loved the chemistry between Addison and Bane, they know how to heat up the pages.

I highly recommend this quick read!

WORTH THE SHOT is the first of Jennie's books that I've read and a super quick, super smokin' read! If you need something to keep you warm during this oddly cold Spring weather, go grab WORTH THE SHOT right now. It's worth the buy and I almost wish I would have read it during a snowstorm earlier this year!

Please note this review may contain spoilers.

After reading and enjoying ICING ON THE DATE, I was really looking forward to reading Bane's story in WORTH THE SHOT; unfortunately, I did not find this one as enjoyable as the first. Both books are novellas, but WORTH THE SHOT is just half the size of the previous book, so the story is very rushed. In under two days, Bane and Addison meet, have sex, fall in love, break up and make up. It moves so quickly that, as a reader, we're not given the chance to get to know the characters or even to find out what happens to Bane's hockey career. I also think Ms Marts needs to research sports a lot more if she plans on continuing with sports romances. The way Bane is "traded" to another team is not how it's done in real life, nor does a coach have the power to fire a player without the approval of the team's management and/or its owners. Ultimately, the lack of both depth and realism ruin what could have been a good story. WORTH THE SHOT is told in dual POVs and while it's part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone.

A chance meeting between two people turns into a fun, fast paced romance. Add a gorgeous hockey player, that is off limits, and you have yourself a hot, sizzling romance novella. The writing is fast paced, but packs a lot of feeling. I got swept up in the romance and it left me wanting more.

This story is an introduction to The Bannister Brothers and what a wonderful beginning it is. Whirlwind romance and undeniable attraction. Loved the characters and can't wait to learn more about each of the Bannister brothers.

Addison was not looking for love but rather a new career opportunity when she has a chance encounter with none other than a hot, sexy guy on a plane. Growing up around hockey players she has been burned enough to make one rule in love: to NOT date hockey players.

Bane Bannister was caught up in a chance encounter with someone who finally doesn't recognize him for what he is - a well known hockey player. Little does he know the female that catches his attention is none other than the one person he can't have.

Jennie has never disappointed me yet, in any of her series! She just keeps getting better! I laughed out loud a lot! I fell in love, as well, with the characters in Worth the Shot. And oooooo la la, there were times I thought I was going to have to break out the fan (even though the temperatures were in the teens here!). I love to laugh, and Jennie's books never fail to make me do so, a lot. My husband wishes I would read them somewhere besides in bed so he could sleep!! Her characters seem like old friends one the book is finished. Jennie's books always leave me with happy feelings and excitedly anticipating the next book. If you haven't read anything by Jennie yet, I highly recommend that you start now!! Her books are definitely Worth the Shot!!!

I received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this story about Addison Cavanaugh and Bane Bannister both strong family values. Both are hockey families so rules are followed to an extent. Quickly moving story that keeps you reading from start to finish, great dialogue and wonderfully realistic characters.

Definitely insta-love, but I enjoyed every second! Bane's on his way to St Louis. He is being traded to the NHL team there. He meets and connects with a woman on the flight. And she with him. Unbeknownst to both of them, her father is the team's coach. Enjoyable, good chemistry. Would have liked more at the end.

This was a cute novella. I previously read the 1st book in the series, which follow's Bane's brother, Owen but this novella was about Bane. He met Addison on the plane and neither were aware of the other, even though Addison's father is a big time hockey coach that Bane is going to interview for. In the first book of the series, we were introduced to the fact that Owen and Bane were trouble makers and "Brawlers" on and off the ice. Anyway, Bane is afraid of flying and turbulence (totally understand that!) and Addison helped him through it. She and Bane had great chemistry. I liked reading about them but I think my biggest issues with the story are 1) Addison is a coach's daughter, knows a heck lot about hockey and didn't know a huge hockey star? That was a bit unbelievable. and 2) The story just ends with no resolution in major issues for the couple. It felt like the story still needed to continue. I don't know if book 3 will give us more insights into this couple but it would have benefited from an epilogue. Still, I enjoyed the novella.

This is the second book in the Bannister Brothers series by Jennie Marts. Addison Cavanaugh has a strict rule of never dating hockey players. But when she crosses paths with Bane Bannister, the newest trade to her father’s hockey team she cannot resist. Bane has a reputation of being a bad boy and has been warned to stay out of trouble including avoiding women by his new coach. Unfortunately, the one woman he’s drawn to happens to be the coach’s daughter. Addison breaks her rule of dating hockey players. Addison must decide if it is worth the risk of dating Bane while Bane defies his coach's orders of dating his daughter. II really enjoyed this amazing short-story sports romance novella.

I loved this sweet story about a chance encounter between a hockey enforcer and his new coach's daughter.
Jennie Marts clearly knows the hockey scene, from coaches who expect to command every aspect of their players lives to players who will do almost anything for their careers because they love the game. Worth the Shot chronicles a couple of days in Bane Bannister's life. It's hot, funny, a little sad and, in the end, it's full of hope for the future.
A great read, originally published in the Mischief Under the Mistletoe anthology published a few years back.

What an engaging and enjoyable story! I loved Worth the Shot by Jennie Marts. This sports romance had heart, humor, and romance. Addison and Bane spark off one another from the start. She is intelligent and sassy. He is determined and charming. Together, I feel, the make a dynamic couple even as they navigate through her vow not to date hockey players and his vow to not get into trouble. This hocky romance held my attention from start to finish, was well-written, and worth the read! Worth the Shot is part of the Bannister Brothers series.

Fun day read

This was a cute fun day read. I picked it up free in a stuff your kindle event. I'm glad I found it. The characters are very likable with a chemistry you can't deny. Their whirlwind romance is full of roadblocks to be busted (or punched) down.

Great quick read

I love books that are part of series but can be read as a stand alone. Addie and Ben, err Bane's story makes me want to go read all about the other Bannister brothers

If you are looking for a novella (only 85 pages) for a few hours of reading, try Jennie Marts', Worth the Shot. It is a Bannister Brothers book about hockey player, Bane Bannister. Trouble finds him when he happens to become interested in the coach's pretty daughter, Addison!

Icing On the Date: Read It
Worth the Shot: Read It
Skirting the Ice: Buy It

Give me an O. Give me a W. Give me an E.N. And give him to me. NOW. ~ Icing On the Date

When I was scouring Amazon in search of a quick, sweet and sexy read and happened upon the books that make up the Bannister Brothers series, I knew I needed to read them. One, because I'm really into hockey books—not that I even watch hockey—and two, because I've read several books now by Jennie Marts, and enjoyed them all. There's something so very easy about reading a book by Ms. Marts. They're not overly angsty or steeped in drama. They're fun and flirty, and they have handsome, kind, soft-on-the-inside men like these Bannister boys, who steal hearts and panties like it's their job.

So, I'll start with this simple fact: Icing On the Date (Bannister Brothers Book 1) was a great read. A wonderful opener to the series which made me excited to read more. Gabby + Owen made me laugh, smile and swoon. The writing was engaging, the story lovely but not taxing, their meet-cute funny, yummy and unique. It's a book that is very easy to get lost in and fall in love with, what with its gruff, explosive hero and hard-working heroine, and by the time I finished it, I simply couldn't wait to see what came next for the delightful Bannister brothers.

Which was why I dove straight into the next book (after also grabbing the novella, Worth the Shot, which is sandwiched by books one and two—and is itself a steamy, fun and quick Read It). And Skirting the Ice (Bannister Brothers Book 2) blew me away with the nerdy goodness that was Jack Bannister.

Y'all, this book was SO FREAKIN’ ADORABLE, I can't even. Unlike his brothers, hockey stars Owen and Bane, Jack was geeky, dorky and much more level-headed. Except when it comes to Murphy, the girl next door. He was so taken with her, and I was so taken with them, that I had to pause several times to message a fellow nerd-loving friend to gush and pressure her into downloading it ASAP.

Skirting the Ice might have come with a healthy dose of intrigue and mystery, which was a real treat, but mostly, it simply came with feels and funny moments and insecurities that made me all kinds of swoony over Jack + Murphy.

And his brothers.
And this series.
*Sigh*

“Sorry. That’s pretty nerdy, huh? It’s gotta be so sexy to take your top off and have a guy have an asthma attack just from looking at you.”
If you only knew. ~ Skirting the Ice

This is a hockey romance novella, but still packs everything you want in a short read. It has a hunky hockey player who kisses a pretty girl then finds out she is the coach's daughter and a girl that is done with hockey players and has a rule to never date another one. Both Bane and Addison find themselves breaking the rules and this novella has everything I like -- a great first kiss, a steamy scene in a dressing room, an awesome buildup and a final scene that made me smile, sigh, and reach for the Kleenex. I have really enjoyed all of the Bannister Brothers books and love how Marts' ties the stories together but each book still stands alone. This series is a hit, and I can't wait to meet the next Bannister brother!

Worth the Shot by Jennie Marts was a fun fast pace read for me. Rules are being broken which scores a perfect goal with me. Jennie Marts had me laughing out loud at times, this book is fun with a great storyline. I absolutely loved this book for page one to the end. Addison is the beautiful coach's daughter and Bane is the hot Hockey player sizzling on the pages...oh no...what about the rules? You do not want to miss this book, do yourself a favor download and read. I am so excited to read more by Jennie Marts.

It's a win!

This is a perfect story about finding a person you're willing to make room for in your life. Bane is all about his hockey career until he meets Addison on a plane. The great thing about their flight is they don't realize who the other is so, it's all organic. It's two people who just click.

Great characters, intelligent dialogue and a lot of chemistry make this a fun and engaging read.
