It's just as Mr. Misora said, in this volume Ikki was unlucky.
A volume mixed with rage, bitterness, sadness, blood, tears and Carnages. The volume teaches you that with patience and determination you can make the IMPOSSIBLE possible (Ikki and Shizuku).
And truly what made me excited and waiting for the translating of the 5th volume are these two phrases:
(1)
Ikki Kurogane (The Worst One, a F-Rank Blazer) vs Twin-Wings Edelweiss (World's greatest Swordsman):
"He wounded her!? A kid who just came of age, against the world's highest…!?
Indeed. He had reached her.
Just a few drops. It was so shallow that one couldn't really call it a wound—even so, the sword of the Worst One had definitely left proof on the world's highest.
"Ha ha ha. …What is this, you just keep on surprising me."
With full delight and surprise, Kurono's entire body shook in excitement.
"…Sheesh. What an ominous boy."

Shizuku Kurogane (Witch of the Deep Sea, a B-Rank Blazer) vs Wallenstein (One-Armed Swordsman):
"*Cough cough*… gah…!?"
The air he was exhaling was not returning as inhales. His lungs could not be filled with air. As if he was drowning–yes, he was on the verge of drowning.
"If the lungs are turned to water balloons, humans would become like this, right? As I expected of this technique, it's not something other people at school can possibly do, so it's the first time you've seen it."
Shizuku who was using Aoiro Rinne like this had turned all the atmosphere in the whole place the same way. Therefore, she could establish control over all of it–including the air that Wallenstein was breathing.
Wallenstein's ability to control friction certainly was an unparalleled power pertaining to external slashes and strikes. However–
"If it's inside the body, there's nothing friction can do, am I right?"
"Gah… ukk…!"
Wallenstein, drowning in an invisible sea, finally couldn't keep standing and fell to the floor with his eyes wide and his mouth opening and closing like a fish washed up on shore desperately seeking oxygen.
"Hmm? What's that? What did you say?"
"S…Sp–Spare… me!"
"Oh, you want me to let you go?"
It was actually a declaration of surrender. Wallenstein had decided that winning fight was impossible at this point, and was waving the white flag at Shizuku.
"But I won't."
Shizuku gave a merciless smile, and snapped her fingers. At that moment, blood flew from Wallenstein's entire body.
"–GAAAAHHH!"
Flesh tore from inside his body, and dozens of ice spears erupted from within him. That attack completely severed the consciousness of the One-Armed Swordsman. Wallenstein, while discharging blood mixed with water from his mouth, fainted.
And Shizuku lowered her cold gaze on her opponent as if he was trash.
"I'm not as nice as Onii-sama, or as gentle as Stella-san, so I can't help but cut an enemy who attacked me to shreds. –You chose the wrong foe."
She tore Wallenstein's overcoat off of him. With it she covered her own skin, and turned her gaze away. She had already lost interest."

Seriously Shizuku u gained my utmost respect and gratitude

Damn - this story starts to get crazy!
The anime adaptation only covers volumes 1-3, so this volume advances the storyline beyond the anime. My expectations were low. I was expecting a tame and predictable martial arts tournament, forgettable but bouyed up by the sweet romance between the two leads, Stella and Ikki.
But holy shit, I was wrong. It kicks off with a twist and a mystery that provides more than enough suspense to carry the whole volume. I was shocked by the revelation and biting my nails in fear for what would happen to the characters. (Strictly speaking, the twist is introduced in the epilogue to volume 3. Said epilogue is cut from the anime.)
I don't know why Shizuku is on the cover. It should have been Alice on the cover. For me, this volume is all about Alice - her back story, her relationship with Shizuku and others, and her relationship with the villains. (Alice is a trans-woman, so I am going to call her "she".)
The romance takes a back seat in this volume. There is just one scene where we see romantic growth. Stella and Ikki must overcome the next daunting step of their relationship - hugging? I dunno. It's a bit odd for me, with my very liberal sexual morals. It is probably less odd if your are Japanese. Still, it's very sweet.
There is a clear tonal shift in the series. At first it seems a quite happy story set in a friendly world: Ikki is relentlessly optimistic, the endings are generally happy and most people seem friendly and supportive, with only a few bad apples to create drama. But gradually the story turns darker. The happy world we thought we saw turns out to be a thin veneer hiding a dystopia of corruption, mafia and political malice. This shift was clearly evident in volume 3 with Akaza Mamoru's atrocities (also present in the anime), and it gets even worse in volume 4. This is absolutely the darkest chapter yet.
In summary, this volume still has the sweet romance I came for, plus a story way more gripping than anything in the first three volumes. I recommend it.

My my, a much darker volume than the ones before it. Not sure what to think, honestly. I dread picking up volume 5 now… while also being sorry I don't have the rest of the volumes.
Worth reading, but not an easy read. At the same time, I couldn't put the book down in the last third, so very hard to rate.

The chivalry of a failed knight is a pretty great interesting manga! Really love the art and character designs and great story! 😁😻❤️

This one was a bit of a drag. That's odd, since it was an exciting arc in the manga, but it just didn't seem to be well translated into English for the light novel version. Not too much seems to happen until the final portions of the book, but it did pick up and got pretty good at the end.
I'm grateful that this one didn't include any creepy pinup art of teenaged protagonists or secondary characters. Three and a half stars, but I'm not feeling generous, so I rounded down instead of up.

With Turmoil waiting at every turns, the dries takes up a notch on showing their seriousness and how different it takes things compared to others!
