I was asked if I would like to review this book and the blurb sounded great, but you always wonder when it's a new author to you - will it be all it sounds… Well this book was great, read it one day, when I took a break for a shower I was thinking about the characthers and what may happen next, or maybe was something to do with a very hot voyeuristic shower scene!

This book starts in Edinburgh, I've visited the city and it's always a bonus if you've visited the setting as you, of course it is not necessary just means you think to yourself I know where that is.

Well the book is mainly set in 2061 and a new colony is being set up on Mars, it only take 3 weeks to get there in 2061 due to new technology, Lachlan is heading there as are around 500 others. Included in that number is Kate and she is Psychologist, she suffers from PTSD due to losing her dad 18 years before in a space travel accident. Lachlan isn't sure she's right for the trip so decides to check her out. Upon meeting her he knows she has to go to Mars and his willing to help her. Lachlan is instantly drawn to Kate and I think it's mutual, His very alpha and caring and Kate is very sassy and forthright. One thing she doesn't know is that his a Vampyra.

Vampyras, Lachlan and his friends love blood, but they also like food and coffee! He doesn't Sparkle and looks completely human. Lachlan isn't a paranormal creature though he's an Alien! I loved the background story to his kind and the comradery he shared with fellow vamps.

The two main characters are really interesting in their own right but quite early in the book there are little twists being added into the story. In some ways there's 3 on this relationship - Meg, she’s like a head vampyra she is strong and feisty is one way to describe her, Lachlan sees’s her as a sister type figure, Kate sees her as a bitch! Oh my word these two really fire off each other, even when Kate knows she's a vampyra and strong she still pushes her buttons.

Lachlan and Kate are bunked together and in the 3 weeks traveling to Mars a lot happens. Kate is no wall flower and tells him she wants him in bed, his such a gentleman in some ways and makes her and us wait. No worries though they eventually do the deed and once they've had a taste of each other they can't get enough. There's lots of story and relationship development in that period and you will find their discussions very entertaining and amusing, Kate has a way with words.

You shouldn’t have done that, Kate.” His voice was a deep growl, and his teeth were covered in blood—his fangs still visible as he grinned wolfishly at her. Lachlan placed the half full bag into an empty coffee mug and surveyed the damage. “I’m a Vampyr. You know I can’t just let you wash blood down the drain. It’s almost sacrilegious.”
He lifted the hand which she had used to squeeze the bag and surveyed it, licking his lips before he sucked her index finger slowly into his mouth. She held her breath as the sensation pulled at her core. His rough tongue worked around the digit, and his eyes sparked with pleasure before he closed them and moaned. She squirmed on her seat atop his lap. When he opened his mouth extending his tongue between her other fingers and licking, her breath hitched.
“Lachlan.” Her voice was just a whisper.

This book mixes many genres and will appeal to vampire fans along with sci-fi and erotica fans. This author actually writes historical romance too and it was fun seeing some of that mingled in parts of the book, well Lachlan is over 1000 years old, he just looks like a 30-year-old sex god.

I'm really glad to have had the chance to read this book, I love it when I have to read a book in one day and will definitely be reading book 2, I imagine it will be another characthers book but hope these two get a big cameo part.

I was excited to get stuck into this book following a recommendation from a friend. It’s the perfect blend of Sci-Fi, PNR and Erotica with a healthy dose of humour thrown in. I have never read anything like it and I was engrossed from beginning to end.

The year is 2061 and we’re just about to set off on a mission to Mars for 2 years. I mean….seriously?! Come on, I may have squee’d at that bit lol.

Only it’s not just humans who want the mission to succeed – the Vampyrs who crash landed on Earth in 1006 are desperate for success as well. You try surviving on planet for all that time with a race not as technically advanced as yourselves. It’s enough to drive you mad!!

The story follows two of the mission recruits: Vampyr, Professor Lachlan Mackenzie and Psychologist & human, Doctor Kate Maxwell. The attraction between these two is instantaneous but Lachlan is hesitant to act on it for fear of his secret being revealed. Add to which, he can’t face the prospect of losing someone else he’s come to care about by outliving them.

Kate is not without her own demons and struggles with PTSD following a crash in space when she was twelve. Kate & Lachlan initially butt heads over her suitability for the mission given her history.

Yet fate or should I say Meg, Head of the Vampyr Council, has other ideas and our two find themselves roomies for the journey ahead. Can Lachlan keep his secret and ignore the mounting sexual tension? What do you think? All I’ll say is; Lachlan’s got some moves ;)

Throw in a long-lost daughter, intriguing secondary characters and you know you’ve got something amazing!

I loved how the story was set in Scotland and the author’s attention to detail especially with the historical & Vampyr lore aspects. More layers to get your teeth stuck in to!!

I just adored these two and how Kate makes Lachlan realise he’s deserving of love:

“One day you’ll look in the mirror and see the remarkable man I see, and you’ll understand why I love you.”

I can’t wait for book 2 to see what mischief Meg gets herself into.

I beta read this fantastic new book from the fabulous Em Taylor. This is the first book of this kind that Em has written and she has done it brilliantly. It is part paranormal, part sci-fi, part romance and a whole lot of hotness and adventure included in that!

I loved the character of Kate. Despite having PTSD she is such a strong woman, willing to face up to any problems that she encounters and stick up for herself and others, when necessary. Making the decision to head to Mars isn't an easy one but she does with such determination! Now, Lachlan... what a Vampyr! He's had a difficult life, faced with many decisions he shouldn't have had to make and haunted by events from the past. He's sexy as hell and the chemistry between him and Kate is off the charts! I thought my Kindle was going to combust!

You definitely need to give this book a go as it is different from anything I have read before on all my years reading! I cannot wait for book 2!

Who would of thought you could cross sci-fi, paranormal, romance and humour. Well, this is the second book I have read by Em, and I love her style.
I will admit, I had no idea what to expect from this book, because I am not a sci-fi, alien person. However, the humour from the beginning Kate and Lachlan captured my attention.

I am not going to give the story away, because it is a good story to read based on a look to the future. Can humans and aliens/vampyres come together for book 2? I look forward to reading it when it is released.

This was a well written, enthralling, sexy tale. So different from my usual PN reads... it has a sci-fi twist, which wasn't overdone. It came together perfectly.

Thank you Em. Loved it!

Fun, Sassy and Sensual - A fab start to a new series!

Em Taylor’s Discovered is a fun, sassy and sensual read which pairs a sexy space Vampyr/university professor Lachlan MacKenzie with human Psychologist Kate Masters. Set in the future, in Edinburgh, in space and on Mars, it will appeal to readers of paranormal romance and sci-fi romance alike. It is a world where humans are still unaware of the existence of an alien species, Vampyrs, who have been living amongst them for hundreds of years since becoming stranded on Earth.

I loved how the attraction between Lachlan and Kate is so instantaneous. However, their relationship is far from plain sailing due not least to Lachlan’s reticence to get involved with a human again on account of unfortunate experiences in his past. There are a number of misunderstandings and some hilarious scenes as the pair circle around each other even before they embark on their mission to Mars.

Lachlan is one sexy Vampyr - he has looks and brains and manages to combine old world charm with an outlook which is not out of place in the world of 2061 when the novel is set. He tries not to give into his attraction to Kate as he wants to protect her from what his true nature is, lest he frightens her. Nonetheless, sharing quarters on board ship inevitably leads to some intimate scenes and the sexual tension and mayhem increase and the inevitable happens! Of course initially Kate has no ideas that Lachlan is an alien, least of all a Vampyr and she is suitably shocked when this comes to light: cue a great deal of soul searching amongst some sizzling love-making scenes as to what their future together will be! The read contains a great deal of humour, but also touches on some dark issues from both Lachlan’s and Kate’s past.

I really enjoyed the premise of the novel, that of aliens having lived amongst us for centuries, giving rise to the vampire myths. The novel contains a lot of humour, in particular the character of Meg, the leader of the Vampyr Council, and her interactions with both Kate and Lachlan were priceless! If Lachlan comes across as a little world-weary from his long life as a Vampyr, Meg is positively jaded and I am curious to know exactly what she is plotting and if she too will find her other half!

I recommend Discovered to readers of sci-fi and paranormal romance. Fans of Lindsay Sands Argeneau Vampire series and Evangeline Anderson’s Brides of the Kindred series will especially love this novel. Readers who up until now are only familiar with Em Taylor's Regency Romances may also wish to indulge. It is a fab start to what promises to be an addictive series. Please note a copy of this novel was given to me by the author for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

Discovered is a science fiction novel about well vamprys but just wait before you roll your eyes because I know what you are all thinking not another vampire novel how many times can they write the same type over and over again right this must be another young adult novel for the pop culture. But it’s not actually while it does revolve around vamprys it also gives it a new refreshing twist that will have you wanting to read more and more into it and the characters are full of life also. Let me tell you a little about them there is Kate she is a young thirty something professor of psychology she has signed up to join a team who is going to mars to start a colony. She is a little worried as to going because she suffers from PTSD after having lost her father in a ship crash when she was 12 and being stuck in the ship with his body for 17 hours, enough to make anyone crack right? But it’s been quite a few years she feels she is up to the task at hand and is excited to be given the chance to be one of the first humans to go to mars to see the colony rise. She meets professor Lachlan Mackenzie who will be joining her on her journey to mars. She is unaware of Mr. Mackenzie to sate though he and his colleague Meg are an alien species that landed on earth over a million years ago when there ship unexpectedly crashed and stranded them on earth. You will follow along as they travel the three weeks to mars and learn what the true nature of the vamprys are and their history also feel the joy and excitement as Kate finds out about Lachlan and starts to fall head over hills for him. And be gripped by the tragedy of finding his estranged daughter has married a rather abusive man and the trials that follow as he brings destruction to the mars colony. It’s a very gripping story but also not for the bashful as it does contain a lot of hot a steamy scene but don't just take my words for it dip your toes in and take a look for yourself I hope you find it as enjoying as I did.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

When most people think about aliens, they don’t think of them as vampires who were stranded on Earth. Well, technically they aren’t a vampire but Vampyr. Aliens who resemble the legendary vampire legends, that just happened to be about them, when they first arrived. So that little alien twist was so exciting, I mean who doesn’t love the idea of an alien vampire.

I liked this book, even though I think the cover for it is kinda boring. They always say don’t judge a book by its cover right?

Despite Kate’s PTSD, I found that was a very head-strong character. She was very motivated to accomplish her goals, not letting anyone stand in her way. I love that she was such a strong character. I really have a thing for strong female characters, even when they are falling in love with Alpha Males. I know it might sound like it would be a difficult relationship, but I personally think it works well.

I loved how supportive Lachlan was when it came to Kate, even everything in his past didn’t stop him from falling in love with the red-headed beauty. With is how PTSD, he was still able to help her through her own issues which I loved. Plus he was an alien vampire~ that is just cool.

Both of these characters needs each other, I thought that they were good for each other. They stood by each other no matter what was happening.

I think that if you love vampires, space, star trek (lol), aliens and love stories you will enjoy this book. Its does have multiple POVs, so you have that to look forward to. Along with it having sex scenes, a book for mature audiences.

"Discovered" by Em Taylor. So, I've read several of Ms. Taylor's works previously. Mostly her historical romances which I have truly enjoyed. Honestly, I was a bit apprehensive about this one when I read the blurb. I wasn't 100% sure where this would lead and how Ms. Taylor would pull it off. But, pull it off she did! This story has adventure and romance and even some humorous parts too. I loved Lachlan! Yes, he's a super sexy vamp, but he's had some rough times in his past. I liked Kate as well - she knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go for it. Both are strong characters and independent. The two together are awesome. The secondary characters were enjoyable too - looking forward to their stories next, hopefully. This one is definetly a paranormal fantasty romance but Ms. Taylor makes it work. While obviously not 100% believable, I felt right at home with the scenes - be it Scotland or space! For an enjoyable read that takes you on an adventure through time and beyond Earth, be sure to discover "Discovered"! (received copy for honest review)

An enticing blend of science fiction, paranormal romance, with a splash of erotica and a nod to Regency romances on the side. Outwardly, this mixture is a bit mind-boggling to the brain. However, Em Taylor spins a brilliant tale filled with humor and heart that ensnares the reader in mere moments rendering them unable to put the book down until the very last page.

Kate’s struggle to deal with PTSD and cope with learning about the Vampyrs while also falling in love with undeniably sexy Lachlan is somehow both admirable and hilarious. From their first meeting the rapport between them is tangibly thick and addictive for the reader making it impossible to turn away from the unfolding story.

I’m very much looking forward to the next book, to find out more about the mysterious Vampyr, Meg, and in the meantime I shall explore more of this author’s work as Discovered has been such a treat.

"Book Gifted for Honest Review"

Okay...I LOVE SCI-FI. Even better than Sci-Fi, I love romance and Sci-Fi mixed together. Lachlan and Kate are explosive together in this Vampire/Alien romance. This book has everything. A dark past, both suffering from tragedy in one form or another; Lachlan carries a secret that must remain hidden and yet for all his secrets he can't seem to keep them secret from the one woman he wants to spend eternity with . Kate is everything he wants, everything he craves.

I had to laugh. As much as Lachlan craves Kate, by the time they finally make their way to one another; it's Kate doing the pursuing. This book was right up my alley. If it hadn't been for the holidays and my presence required by family, I would never have put this book down.

All I can hope for is that Miss Author Goddess herself decides to grace us all with another.

I really wanted to like this book. The premise was engaging, with bits of really good prose, but 'Discovered' just fell flat for me. When the characters - particularly the female lead - really began to grate my nerves with their push-me, pull-me behavior - I had to call it quits.
The fact that the first 50% of the book had the H/h closed up in a cabin on their way to Mars - with sex basically being in one scene after the other...stumped me. I was getting cabin fever reading this. I mean, after all - wasn't this book suppose to be about the first human (and vampyr) settlers on Mars? I stopped reading at the 69% mark, so maybe I missed out on any Red Planet action.
I did skip the book to the end, only to be introduced to another couple getting their sex mojo on.
Some other readers make like this though. A weak 2 stars.

Oh how I love a good romance, but though in a SIFI twist
and you have my attention. This was a phenomenal book.
So well written, and flows so fluidly you lose all track of time.
I was so immersed in this book when I looked up it was 7am
and time to get up. Thank goodness had nowhere to be.
This is the first book in the series and I cannot wait to get my
hands on the next book. This story is about Professor
Lachlan Mackenzie an aliean crashed here over a thousand
years ago. And Dr Katie Maxwell a Psychologist picked to go
in the mission to Mars. There is this immediate attraction
between the two and they both try to fight it. But Meg the
head of the mission is determined to place them together.
So she places them in the same cabin. And all seems to be
going well he is helping her with her PTSD from a crash she
experienced as a kid where her dad died and she was
trapped with his body for a log time. But something about
Lachlan seems to calm her as he holds her through the
shacking of take of and when an object collides with the ship.
All was fine till Katie comes back unexpectedly to the cabin
and catches him feeding on a blood bag. They are put into
lockdown and not allowed to leave till she is no longer
considered a risk to their race. Now it is up to Lachlan to
convince Katie it will be fine and get her to see she still loves
him and he loves her.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you
enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book,
please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it
when you do; they value your opinions too.

I really enjoyed this book. Takes place in the future in 2061 and I liked Em's take on this one. What I really liked it didn't get too crazy with the futuristic items and events. The idea of vampyrs as aliens instead of the undead is so intriguing. I really liked the characters. Kate is thrown into a world she never imagined existed. Vampyr Lachlan is very delicious. He does come off arrogant in the beginning, but how he's there for and treats Kate wins me right over. This story keeps you so ensnared right to the end. This book leaves me wanting to know more about the world Em created. Great start to the new series.

This book was recommended to me by a friend. I thought heh it is different enough that I'll give it a shot. I wasn't disappointed. It was an entertaining journey and unlike any paranormal books I've ever read. The references to Doctor Who and Star Trek were awesome! I love me some sci-fi on occasion. The book was a little slow in parts while they are on "lock down." The sex is hot and not lacking in steam. The characters enjoy bantering between themselves on a regular basis creating a back and the forth sexual tension. I recommend this book to fans of sci-fi romance.

Fun read

Sci Fi is always fun. This book gave a new twist to a vampire story, but lost my attention in a few places. I would still recommend it!
