I read this with "Crush Step 3". I found it to be more logically organized in reviewing topics, including sections on Diagnosis and Treatment for the most common illnesses.
Generally, topics had more information in First Aid than in Crush Step 3, but sometime Crush was better. Overall, it was probably best using them together.
By knowing all information in First Aid, I would guarantee the test-taker that they would pass Step 3.
Not a bad book for Step 3, I would say that you should use this in addition to UWorld. While it doesn't cover everything that will show up on the exam, I found it a good revision tool as it does still cover a lot of the high yield topics. Areas that this book doesn't cover well re biostatistics and using the CCS practice software to become familiar.
Mostly used this to hit some high yield charts/ topics and do the CDM cases. A nice little overview for when I do not want to stare at a computer doing practice questions.
I gave this book 3 stars, it was a brief overview meant only to remind you of the topics in a broad sense. I'm mostly using it as an adjunct to question banks. Overall it was okay, there is definitely a lot of detail missing.
I can't give it 5 stars; however, i have been "curled up" (as they say) with this book for 12 hours/day, conservatively, going on my 5th day... I will finish it today!
