The famous final episode of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime TV show imagined the show's main characters in an alternate world where friendship and romance could be as important as their task to pilot the Evangelion. That premise forms the storyline of Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Shinji Ikari Raising Project! Stunning, hot-headed Asuka Langley Soryu has been friends with Shinji Ikari since they were little. And she always sort of assumed they'd stay together--until the day the beautiful, brilliant Rei Ayanami showed up in class! When Shinji starts to get curious about Rei, Asuka needs to figure out if she wants to be just friends with Shinji, or something more. But why are so many people keeping an eye on these relationships--people like homeroom teacher Misato, school nurse Ritsuko, and Shinji's mother--NERV's chief scientist, Yui Ikari...?
This got progressively worse as it went on, it started off fairly well with the introductions of everyone and the set up of the love triangle but after that nothing actually happens.
So I'm a fan of the Evangelion series and the movies, the story usually the story revolves around teenagers piloting giant robots to fight giant monster. Neither of with featured in this omnibus, instead what I got was a bunch of tits and ass. Literally every 4 pages was an upskirt shot and a boob jiggle neither of which I wanted. It even happened in the serious parts, oh someone has been kidnapped lets have an upskirt of someone climbing a ladder. What is that suppose to entice me? It just pisses me off, develop your bloody characters add some damn story. As for the love triangle it didn't progress at all it was in the same place all the way through, there is not even a reason why the girls like Shinji. No mention oh he looks nice, they like the way he thinks, nope nothing. One says they grew up with him that's about as much development you get, I grew up with my neighbour, does that mean I want to ram my tongue down his throat? No I don't, the only decent thing about this was the art it did a nice job of conveying emotions when there was some. It would been better without all the Ecchi nonsense, I will say if you're a fan of the series like I am and expect a well written narrative with awesome actions scenes and a deeper meaning, look elsewhere.
