A light cosy-style mystery with an edge of humour, a sense of adventure, and a hint of romance...
KILLER CLIMATE Book 1 in the Campervan Bushman Mystery Series
Give a young Crocodile Dundee a campervan and a surfboard, and you've got something like Scott Chevalier, star of the Campervan Bushman Mystery Series.
Ex-surf champ and model, Scott Chevalier, isn't just a pretty face!
With an enviable campervan-surfie lifestyle, and a handful of impressive bush skills learnt from his grandfather, producer Frank Buckler sees great potential in the young Aussie and hires him to host a British TV show called The Campervan Bushman.
Unfortunately, things don't start out too well when Scott arrives on location in England. One minute, he has to contend with the freezing North Sea, and the next, he's in danger of being reported for popping off the local wildlife.
When things hit rock bottom and the director dies, no one suspects it could be anything but an accident – at least not to start with. But as the evidence begins to mount, Scott realises that the cold English climate isn't the only killer around.
Born in Australia, raised in the UK, Alannah is a writer of both fiction & non-fiction, covering topics as diverse as capers in a campervan, the vagaries of living with an obsessive cyclist, travels Down Under, and tales ‘full of twists, turns & tickles’ based in Cornwall where she currently lives.
She lived in her Aussie birthplace for five years in her twenties, and managed to return to Old Blighty devoid of shark or snake bite. Mozzies, however, did love to use her for target practice!

I enjoyed this book. It was a clean story about a surfer/model turned TV personally who came from Australia to England to film a show about living off the land. Throw in a murder and you have the story in a nutshell. Rated G
I read this book after reading the prequel short story "Wipeout." Basically our protagonist, Scott Chevalier male model and hunk of Australia, finds himself in a spot of trouble with the media and his agent sets him up with a TV producer from England to get him the heck outta there. In "Killer Climate" the story takes place with Scott on the set of the TV show on the chilly coast of England. A suspicious death of the director occurs, and Scott with help from the TV crew, pursue answers for the woman's daughter. The story is a basic cozy with a bit of Australian verbiage here and there, which I actually liked. It's no page turner but I would read more in the series just to see where the author takes the character.
This was a very enjoyable story! It is very smooth flowing and has great characters! There are tons of twists and turns and you are never really sure what is going to happen next, so plenty of suspense. It was a lot of fun with the personality of Scott, who is from Australia, and goes to England to film an adventure series to escape some bad press from a recent incident in Australia. Right away the Director of the show is murdered, but the killer tried to make it look like an accident. There are no dull moments in this great story, it is truly a page turner and one you don't want to put down until you finish the entire story!
Not really. Scott is from Australia but he is currently in the UK filming a new tv show about being a bushman. The weather is bad enough but then their director is killed. The crew of Scott, Penny and Red try to figure out whodunit. Typical twist at the end. Not much action as you might think with an Aussie bushman in the cast. Quick easy read.
Decent plot but I didn't like Scot, very much hitting the cat with a catapult was a no no for me. Also the author seemed unaware of the no dog fouling policy as no way could that guy have got away with letting his dog foul everywhere. Why portray the dog as so aggressive? Seems like the whole crew were not animal lovers and that made me dislike them.
The first book in the Campervan Bushman Mystery Series a well written story that kept me turning pages. A fun suspenseful story with drama, danger, action, and murder. This is a new Author to me. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Scott Chevalier is an Australian Surf Boarder and Bushman. When a ruckus between him and a couple of his "mates" shows up in the news, Scott suddenly finds himself personna-non-grata in Australia. His agent, Rip Vanderbilt, has an idea to keep Scott out of trouble until everything settles down. Frank Buckler owns a production company in England and he arranges to use Scott in a TV series featuring his outdoor skills.
When the on-site director, Sally Gosling, is found dead, the police initially conclude that she died of carbon monoxide poisoning, but her daughter, Penny, and Scott are not so certain. When the source of the carbon monoxide poisoning disappears, they decide to call the police with their suspicions.
Who is responsible for the incidents? Is it the nosy Mr. Brambury who is always poking around? Is it somebody connected with the TV show that the director has crossed? Or is it somebody else with a reason to want Sally dead? There are enough clues to keep you guessing right up till the end.
The characters are fairly simple, but quite realistic and personable. The language is a mix of Australian and British terminology and spelling, but is still easy to follow. It starts out a little slow, but continues at a steady pace throughout.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Scott Chevalier is an young Australian Surf Boarder, bushman, and model. Raised in the bush primarily by his grandfather, he has honed some excellent skills. After some bad media press after he gets into a skirmish with a buddy at a beach bar he is encouraged by his agent to make himself scarce in Australia till the dust settles. Scott will be using his bushman skills traveling around in a camper in ENGLAND in a new TV series. Things begin to go south on production when the director is found dead.
Scott teams up with Penny, the dead director's daughter, to investigate. Was the death an accident or murder? There are a number of suspects and enough red herrings to keep the reader interested. There are enough clues to keep you guessing right up till the end. The plot keeps you guessing until the end. I did learn some British slang in the process of reading this story.
A very good mystery. The author has developed an interesting main character in the form of Scott Chevalier, a model from Australia sent to work temporarily in England in a TV show developed for him. After photos of him fighting with his friend surfaced they decided this was the best way to deal with any fallout. Soon after they begin production in England the director of the show is found dead from carbon monoxide poisoning. Convinced that it was not accidental Scott helps her daughter run through the possible suspects. This book is a quick, entertaining read. * I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
When Scott Chevalier heads to England to do a show called The Campervan Bushman series, the first thing he hates is the cold climate, preferring Australia's warm climate. Other things go wrong including the death of the director, Sally. Her daughter Penney is determined the show must go on. When foul play and possible murder is suspected in the death the story takes on some new twists and turns. This would be a great quick read to take to the beach for fun, mystery and suspense.
