Two words that can strike fear in a six-foot-four alpha male.
Join John Day and his fiancée Diane in this laugh out loud Romantic Comedy short featuring everyone's favorite bearded hero, an over-the-top pink bakery, and things involving frosting you wouldn't want your future in-laws to know about.
Readers fell hard for John Day as the hot next-door neighbor in Geoducks Are for Lovers (Modern Love Story #1) and swooned when he fell in love in Ready to Fall (Modern Love Story #2). Take the Cake and Run takes place chronologically after Ready to Fall.

USA Today Bestselling author Daisy Prescott lives in a real life Stars Hollow in the Boston suburbs with her husband and an indeterminate number of imaginary housegoats. When not writing about people falling in love, she can be found traveling, gardening, baking, and reading a good book.
Her series include: Love with Altitude, Modern Love Stories, Wingmen and Bewitched.
This is a very short story about John and Diane from Ready To Fall. You could probably read this one without reading Ready To Fall, but why would you do that when it's such a sweet romance.
John and Diane are getting married and this story is about them figuring out what wedding cake they want. They end up getting distracted because they are such a couple in love. Sweet short story about love and dessert. Give it a try.
Our island lumberjack John Day and his fiancee Diane are finally tying the knot. For those who have read Daisy Prescott, you will remember this couple's first meeting in Geoducks is For Lovers book. In Take the Cake and Run, Diane is going cake shopping with John who has an affinity for hating everything girly, the thing though is he loves Diane, and with a sweet tooth he will do anything to make his wife-to-be happy. I loved their cake shop interactions and the innuendo of the name Sweet Endings. In this book, we also see a sexy erotica fantasy involving cake mixtures and chocolate. If you aren't into foodplay, then give this one a skip but who knows it might spark your interest to give it a go - I know I have with an ice-cream sundae and a certain appendage and mmmm. Delicious tasting if not a little messy. If you are in the mood for a #cute romance with a bit of sexy steam, then check out this quickie read "Take the Cake and Run" by Daisy Prescott.
A short and sweet story about John and Diane. It is highly recommended you read the first book in the Wingmen series (Ready to Fall — which is John and Diane’s story), prior to reading this short.
Loved getting a glimpse into John and Diane planning their wedding. And Tom Cat Donnely makes a little cameo too!
Another great novella from Daisy Prescott giving us a look into the lives of one of the Whidbey Island couples.
This time it's John and Diane as they prepare for their wedding day. A cake tasting leads to some honest talk about what they really want from their special day and it's all love, beards and sexy goodness as usual.
I'm really enjoying these short stories which will lead up to the long-awaited release of We Were Here, the prequel that goes back to the crew's college days. They are a group of characters worthy of a read.
There are few hunks in this world willing to mess with the man card standing to walk into an all pink bakery even if it is with the love of their life. Well John sucks it up and we get to enjoy the hi-jinks that result. All is fun in love and desserts as Diane and John show us. You'll never look at desserts the same. Ms. Prescott delivers a fun and sexy short read that is well worth the laughter and passion we get to share in.
A cute and very steamy short story featuring my favorite couple, John and Diane, from Whidbey Island. It's a cute look at a day in their life in between Ready to Fall and Confessions of a Reformed Tom Cat. We also see a couple of glimpses of our favorite wingman Tom Cat. A must read for the Modern Love fan!
John Day is my favorite Lumberjack! Now that he found love, I could say that he's more sexier and hot than ever. Now it's time to prepare the wedding, but with his soon to be wife, Diane, nothing would happen has planned. Daisy, I have dirty thoughts now, John and frosting?? Just smoking hot! Sexy and fun.
Short and sweet tale reminding us how hot John can be. Cake tasting for his wedding just got sexy. Not necessary to have read Ready to Fall but John is unforgettable and its just too sweet. Read this as part of an anthology.
Love these Modern Love Story shorts by Daisy Prescott!
Each one is so clever and endearing in its own way. Daisy gives readers generous glimpses into the continuing lives of her characters after their respective full-length books conclude. HEAs are a work in progress! ;)
Lumberjack John Day is engaged to Diane. Their foray into trying out cakes, frosting and sauces for their wedding is delicious, delightful and funny. Cute, quick take of love.
