The Program #4

A Mate for Griffin

Rate this book
Vampire Novel

Human women required.
Must be enthusiastic about interactions with vampires. Must be willing to undergo a stringent medical exam. Must be prepared to sign a contractual agreement which would include a nondisclosure clause. Limited positions available…

Griffin intends to find his misunderstood, heartbroken friend a mate. He is sure that if Lance met the right female…if he found love…that he would be able to move on. To live again. Right now, the male is just going through the motions, a mere husk of his former self.

In a fit of insanity, a human female puts herself in danger trying to protect Griffin during a sparring session. As if. What chance does a human stand against a vampire? Sarah is courageous. Someone with honor and integrity. Not only that, she’s an absolute stunner. An angel. Perfect for his friend. Perfect for any male, for that matter.

Even though her gaze has never strayed from Lance since the start of The Program, he must first convince her that his friend is worth the effort. Then, he must convince Lance that, not only does he need a mate, but that Sarah is the female for him. Most importantly, Griffin needs to prevent himself from falling for Sarah whilst playing matchmaker.

This book can be read as a standalone but would be best enjoyed as a part of the series. No cliffhanger!
The story contains strong sexual themes/language and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Stupid.
Stupid.
Stupid.

Stupid was the plot.
Stupid were the characters.
Stupid was me reading this and thinking it was going to be sweet.

Such a bad fucking story! I cannot even remotely get into all the things I hated.

If you have any triggers at all about OW or OM drama, just do not bother! If you read the previous book and think that she is over Lance (after he used her for a quick fuck) and going to have a sweet story with Griffin, DO NOT BOTHER! If you need to like either of the MCs. DO. NOT. BOTHER.

Frankly, the only reason I was able to finish this book is because I despised both of them so much I did not care at all what happened.

No fucking way am I reading the next book featuring Lance, one of the most disgusting manwhores ever to grace the page of a "romance" book.

Writing and all was good but sarah slept with Lance first and he was horrible to her afterwards and I couldn’t get past that! Griffin was a wonderful hero and two stars for that. Unfortunately this series is not for me.

Now we are finally getting somewhere. This is kind of a love-triangle, kind of not. Damnit Lance! You almost fucked it up.

Out of all the vampire elite, Griffin is the youngest... and has died more than 18 times. A record for sure. He's such a sweetheart and a total dunce. But I love him, he's my baby. *deep voice* DON'T FUCK WITH MY BABY!

I will try to keep it short and sweet.
Why did I like this book? I found it quite fun by the end and quite unbelievable because of how far people could go for friendship and how matchmaker just bite you back.
Griffin was awesome, and amazing.
This story felt just a tad different from the other ones. More enlightening and also with mind masterplan going so wrong or good. Sure I had an idea of who would be with whom but a book that made you doubt and being right just make you feel good. There were unexpected turns.
I just can't wait for the next guy!

2.5ish? This series is starting to become exhausting lol. All the rutting...exhausting! I like seeing the underlying plot moving forward with the haters becoming more dangerous to our program participants. Griffin and Sarah are cute but Lance is a total dick. I see how the author is really trying to mix it up with the stories but it’s starting to become repetitive for me. Honestly I just wasn’t that into these characters. Sarah is just domestic and wholesome, not that she was bad but a tad boring really. Griffin wasn’t much better in all honesty. I’m not really sure what is broken inside of Lance but he has serious problems for sure. Honestly I can’t say if I’m just getting tired of this or if the characters really did seem kind of meh. Lance’s story is next and to be honest I’m not sure how the author is going to turn this around.

I am ADDICTED to this series; I can get enough of this paranormal romantic goodness. With alpha males in all shapes and sizes with Ménage à trois, MFM love triangles (eat your heart out), Vampires, Shifters, and Elves. It is Sexy, it is Sizzling, it is smoking Hot, it is Erotic so much so that it jumps right off the pages and leaves you needing a cold shower.
Sassy, headstrong females, and fighting to the death is not uncommon. So, what happens when smoking hot vampires and shifters, mortal enemies want the same thing; this is where things get so interesting, and the fun begins. These men are ruthless, they are vicious, power players, they are violent. There is lots of action, danger and war around every corner but given all that they love fast, they love with their whole heart and make you want to go and find your own.
Charlene has woven a captivating, tangled web of lies, deceit, suspense, drama and love that will leave you breathless. The characters are to die for, and each have their own voice in this series. I love that we get their POV because it makes them more real.
It is not all doom and gloom though there are plenty of witty moments and humour that will have you laughing out loud.
Don’t even stop to think just click and read and tell me I am not wrong. Happy reading!

DELICIOUSLY CUTE AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: A Mate for Griffin
Series: The Program
Designation: Book Four of Series, Standalone Novel, NO Cliffhanger
Genre: Paranormal Vampire Romance
Author: Charlene Hartnady
Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited
My Rating: FIVE DELICIOUSLY CUTE STARS*****
It's no secret that I'm a huge Charlene Hartnady fan and love everything she writes but she has really outdone herself - AGAIN! Hartnady has dazzled us yet again with A Mate for Griffin, the fourth release in her captivating new series, The Program and she totally rocked it! I was completely captivated from page one and simply could not stop reading. This book has it all. Love steamy passion and dreamy romance? It's included. Want a little drama laced with a super large helping of angst? Yep, it has that too. Lots of sexy, sassy banter? Most definitely! Have to have a few plot twists? Well, you're in luck because they're also included! Need a few shenanigans thrown in for comic relief? Oh absolutely! Prefer a read with a few thrills, chills and a lot of bite? You bet! Must be a story that will tug on your heartstrings but still leave you with a silly grin and a serious case of the warm and fuzzies? Absolutely! As I said - this book has it all. I laughed! I cried! And I found myself holding my breath while my heart skipped and stuttered! Yes, it's that good! So, what are you waiting for? Grab it and start reading. Although the author does a fabulous job of including sufficient backstory and each of the books in this series can be read as a standalone, I would still highly recommend reading all the books in the series. I think one of the things I enjoy most about Hartnady's books and especially this series, is the fact that all the stories take place in the same world with many of our favorite characters from her other books having recurring roles. It's no small feat for an author to seamlessly orchestrate, coordinate and integrate each story/series with the other and requires a tremendous amount of work, organization and craftsmanship but Charlene has managed to make it look easy. I love it! This story is unique, exceptionally well crafted, fast-paced, cute, fun, romantic and seductive. Heck, I'm 63 and even I wanted to apply for "The Program." The narrative is exceptionally well written in the third person with alternating his and her points of view. The dialogue is smart, snappy, well executed, flows effortlessly and at times, absolutely hilarious. The entire book is extremely well edited which is always a big plus for me. The characters are an absolute joy. They are captivating, fascinating, engaging, endearing, sexy as sin and at times, laugh out loud funny. As I stated earlier, another big plus for me is the recurring appearance of many of the characters from previously released books. It's always a treat to see how our favorite characters are doing. Charlene skillfully combines these elements into a delightfully entertaining tale filled to the brim with side-splitting humor, fun-filled adventure, heartbreaking angst, a generous measure of a romping good time and loads of dreamy romance! Where can I sign up for "The Program?"

The premise for this series is quite original and unlike anything I've ever read. I'm not a writer nor a professional reviewer but I'll try to give you a brief summary.
Vampire Kings, Zane and Brant, are now proud papas of a bouncing baby boy named Sam and when they aren't trying to keep their human Queen Tanya happy and satisfied, they're both busy implementing their new "Breeding Program" also known as "The Program." What? Breeding Program? Oh yes, I said breeding program. Zane and Brant have learned from Ward, the Alpha of the wolf shifters and Stephany's new mate, that despite their earlier beliefs, humans are strong enough to survive a mating with both shifters and vampires. It seems the shifters have been doing it for years, in secret of course. The Kings have finally embraced this new idea and have been hard at work drawing up the contracts with the human authorities and finalizing the arrangements so that the warriors from their combined covens will now be able to choose human females for mates. Their hard work has finally paid off and they're launching the first stage of "The Program" by advertising for women to volunteer to date/mate a vampire. Huh? Yep, the elite vampire warriors have competed in hand to hand combat to win one of the ten coveted slots in The Program. The winners participated in a three day trial to eliminate anyone that suffers from 'blood lust'. The program has now progressed to the first round where the men interact/date the first group of human females and yes, that does include sex and blood drinking. Oh my! The human women have been carefully screened and will be monetarily compensated for their participation, even if they aren't chosen to be a mate. Sounds like quite a dangerous and expensive undertaking but unfortunately, one that has become a necessary risk since vampires are becoming extinct. Although it's dangerous for human women to give birth to vampire babies, most female vampires cannot safely birth children at all and have to be sterilized. Sadly, the births resulting from vampire/human unions have been only male. As a result, there's a shortage of viable females thereby creating the problem - they need human women. But not everyone is happy about the new program and one group has already made an attempt on the life of King Zane and two of the human female applicants. So now it seems that not only are the vampires at risk but also anyone involved with The Program may be in danger as well. Oh my goodness!

Elite vampire guard Griffin longs to find a human female for a mate. He competed and won one of the coveted slots in The Program along with his friend Lance. But Lance is making it very difficult for the other vampire males in The Program. Lance has not been himself since he lost his mate to the wolf shifter Alpha. Granted, Lance and Stephanie had only one night together twenty years earlier and their mating could only be described as accidental, but still, it's had a devastating effect on Lance or primarily on his pride. Lance has lashed out at everyone, including his superiors and the other warriors are tired of his antics. Griffin refuses to give up on the self-destructive, lovelorn Lance and has decided that as Lance's only friend, it's his duty to help him overcome his heartbreak and straighten out his life by finding a human female for Lance to love. Unfortunately, Lance doesn't seem to be interested in finding love or a mate, or even dating any of the human females more than once. He only wants to have sex with them. But when a courageous, feisty little human female barrels into a dangerous training exercise and places herself between Lance and him to prevent Lance from killing him, Griffin realizes that the brave Sarah is the woman Lance needs. Griffin decides to implement a secret plan to get Lance to notice the beautiful Sarah but in order for his plan to work, he must first convince Sarah to help. Unfortunately, during the little charade, Griffin suddenly discovers that he's attracted to Sarah and regrettably, his plan may be working all too well. But Lance has already seduced the lovely, sweet Sarah and Griffin is not handling the situation well at all! And to make matters worse, Sarah has been kidnapped! Oh no! What's an elite vampire guard to do??? Why save the day and rescue the girl, of course! Oh, and try not to die - again!

Preschool teacher Sarah doesn't consider herself brave at all. She's actually quite timid but when she sees Lance about to kill Griffin, she steps in to stop him without even a thought to her personal safety. It's too bad that Lance is such a player and major jerk because she was really attracted to him but that was before he promptly kicked her out of his room immediately after having sex with him. All the women wanted Lance, but sadly Lance wants ALL the women - not just one. She should have known that he could never actually be attracted to someone like her, a mere preschool teacher. At least, she would be compensated but the money wasn't the reason she signed up to participate in The Program. She truly longed for a loving relationship, one like the vampires and shifters have - they love unconditionally and mate for life. So, when Griffin approaches her with his plan to help Lance, she reluctantly agrees. There's only one little problem - she's now more attracted to Griffin but he sees her only as a friend. What's a girl to do??? Run from the problem and get kidnapped, of course! Oh my! Will Griffin find Sarah in time? Will he be able to save her? We'll see! No spoilers from me but I will say this.... Beautiful, timid but brave preschool teacher-check! Handsome sexy elite vampire guard-check! A wonderful cast of characters-check! Danger, drama, kidnapping, heartbreaking angst, dangerous enemies and evil machinations-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion, adorable humor, steamy sex and a love so sweet, it will warm your heart-you bet! That and a whole lot more! I can hardly wait for the next book in the series, A Mate for Lance! I think we've all been waiting for this one! Deliciously cute, seriously sexy, completely captivating and delightfully entertaining!
So, what didn't I like about this book? Not a darn thing! What did I love about this book? Everything but especially the interaction between Griffin, Sarah and Lance. It was different and creative and not the same old instant mate, instant love and instantly falling into bed with each other. Don't get me wrong, I love it when there is an instant attraction but it's a refreshing change to occasionally shake things up. And the strip poker scene was totally hilarious! I loved it! Would I recommend this book??? You bet and I am but only for adult readers! Will I read this author again? Absolutely, just as soon as she releases her next book! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read.

I loved it!

Warning: mature sexual content, mature themes, and language.

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This is book four of seven of The Program series. (Set in the same world The Chosen Series)

Have you ever wanted to date a vampire? Human women required. Must be enthusiastic about interactions with vampires. Must be willing to undergo a stringent medical exam. Must be prepared to sign a contractual agreement which would include a non-disclosure clause. Limited positions available.

Griffin intends to find his misunderstood, heartbroken friend a mate. He is sure that if Lance met the right female, if he found love, that he would be able to move on and to live again. Right now, the male is just going through the motions, a mere husk of his former self. In a fit of insanity, a human female puts herself in danger trying to protect Griffin during a sparring session. What chance does a human stand against a vampire? Sarah is courageous, and she is someone with honor and integrity. Not only that, she’s an absolute stunner, an angel, someone who is perfect for his friend, perfect for any male, for that matter.

So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.

A Mate for Griffin is a testament to friendship and clumsiness. I laughed and shook my head many times.
A man does not choose a woman for a friend; nor a vampire, for the matter.
Griffin discovers his plan is not so sound as he first imagined it to be.
He has fixed himself a rule as if the vampires had not enough lores to bother their long lives.
His stupid rule is bound to destroy the chance of love of his life.
Too sweet and caring for his own good, Griffin can't see the woods for the tree.
And the tree is an amazing woman.
He sees she is amazing all right and decides it is a good reason to donate her to his friend.
Not the smartest tool in the box, Griffin is brave, strong, handsome and invested in helping his friends.
He plans a scheme and gets the woman to agree with him.
Sarah has a crush on Lance, Griffin's friend; she can see below the surface of womanizer the handsome vampire crafted for himself.
She joins Griffin in his bad idea.
But there are enemies; vampire haters offer a real threat to the funny trio.
A Mate for Griffin has twists and serious hot moments.
The happy ending shows not everyone is blind and love has a chance.
A sweet story with thrilling moments of danger and surprise.

Kinda, sorta Cyrano de Bergerac with a twist and a lot of cussing

Good natured and recently dead, elite vampire Griffin believes he can fix his broken friend Lance by setting him up with a human female to mate. Griffin knows that Lance behaved poorly in the first heat of The Program by bedding every able-bodied human female willing to be used. Most importantly, he knows he has already rutted Sarah, the potential mate (victim) he wants to set Lance up with. Lance also killed Griffin...

Sarah fell for Lance as did every other (stupid/easy) female in The Program...Predictably, Lance used her and cast her aside with the others and decided to choose no mate at the closing ceremony (what a surprise...). Unbeknownst to her, Griffin chooses Sarah with the idea to pimp her out to Lance. Lance is STILL not interested but he decides to push all Griffin's buttons so that his friend will realize his precarious situation with Sarah.

What follows is a predictable story that has an HEA for Sarah and Griffin. There is a surprise kidnapping thrown in just to make sure you're still awake. It becomes obvious to me that between King Brant and King Zane, Zane is the likable one while Brant is a complete, utter...

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2.5 stars.

Assumption and misinformation reeked havoc in Sarah and Griffin's relationship resulting in heartache for everyone involved. This was a very intense story with some very emotionally charged scenes. However, the story wouldn't have been as moving or as strong if these parts had been deleted or toned down. I was completely won over by Griffin, an amazing example of a gentlemanly vampire male, and sweet inexperienced schoolteacher Sarah, the courageous human female. These two characters complemented each other perfectly. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about Sarah and Griffin's story. I also enjoy the way Ms. Hartnady updates her readers by including little tidbits of information about the other couples lives from her previous books. All of these individuals' lives have intertwined forming an extended family in the same community. I loved it!!!!!

The perfect setup gone awry

Griffin is the sweetest male and a faithful loyal friend to a vampire who is suffering loss, hurt and insecurity. Sarah is a sweet sexy pre-school teacher who wants to heal everyone. The two of them hatch a plan to save the hurting vampire, but like all perfect plans it backfires. Sarah and Griffin find they have more in common than they thought, even their feelings for each other. With a little help from the broken vampire they might just get their HEA. Unfortunately they don’t realize their true feelings until after the bad guys try to end them. This book is another great installment in The Program. I look forward to seeing who The Program helps to find a mate next.

If could give negative one star, I would. The heroine sleeps with a guy knowing that he is a man whore and wants to change him after he has had sex with a lot of her friends and she is the last one to get screwed by him.

The hero knows his friend is a man whore and tries to to change the heroine's clothes personality excetera to seduce the man whore and make him a good person. The heroine goes along with it and allows herself to be changed. The hero and heroine fall in love but are afraid of hurting the man whore's feelings. I felt both the hero and heroine were weak people and I had a hard time finishing this book

I love it when you read a series and you love each book just a little more than the last. When each couple is your NEW favorite of the series. Well, this is that series. When you want to write a great review but you love the books so much that you can't stop to write it. THAT is this series.
This book has it all from drama to humor. I do have to warn you it has triggers. But I think you would be able to skim over it and would still enjoy the book.
Finally, Lance gets his mate next.

Disappointed

Now I loved the first half of the book. I loved how Griffin was trying to help out his friend Lance and play matchmaker but ended up falling for Sarah. I felt like the book was going to be this cute comedic story however half way through the book it turned dark pretty quick. Hence why I’m not rating it 5 stars because I felt like you lost the follow of the book. Which sucks because I loved the first half and was hoping it would continue that way. However I still loved Griffin and Sarah’s Story.

Great read

Who doesn't love Griffin he is probably the kindest and sweetest of all the elite he also really cares for his best friend Lance and tries to match make with Sarah one of the humans in the program trouble is he ends up falling for her himself. Sarah firstly believes she has fallen for Lance but quickly realised that Griffin is the one for her. These two get into some real trouble but fight their way out and still can't admit their love Lance has to force them to declare their feelings so they can be together. Another good book in this series.

This is book #4 of the Program. And Sarah is still in love with Lance and he didn't pick her to be his woman. Griffin picks her instead because he thinks she would be perfect for his best friend. He has one week to convince Lance that Sarah is for him and he convinces Sarah to go along with it. Along the way, Sarah starts to realize that Griffin is right Lance really isn't a bad guy but just not her guy but like most females doesn't state the fact to Griffin. I loved it!

Griffin has this idea that he will pick Sarah. She is brave and wonderful. She is perfect for his friend Lance who is still reeling from the loss of his mate. He comes up with a scheme to make Lance notice her and it works. Only now he doesn’t want to admit that he has fallen for her. And she won’t admit that she doesn’t have feelings for Lance like she does for Griffin. A perfect pair of stubbornness.

Oh Griffin my Griffin

Griffin has that quiet strength about him. He's an Alpha good guy. Sarah is as sweet as a cupcake and tough as steel. The story line for these two kept me turning the pages, they are both so stubborn. I loved this book, I really enjoy seeing the characters from previous books pop up from time to time

Okay, so, I really wanted to give this a better rating, but I couldn’t. The whole premise was not really interesting for me...I guess I don’t enjoy it when the main characters are so self sacrificing, especially for people that don’t deserve it. Told from both POV. Sarah was a super sweet person and honestly deserved better than everything that happened.

Love These Vampires!

As far as Vampire Series go, this one is excellent. I loved this book with Sarah and Griffin so much. Starting out friends on a mission and falling in love is so much more believable. Great story. Can't wait to read Lance's story.
