Not recommended unless you're a hardcore LH junkie like me!
I loved the paranormal setting, but the story execution didn't live up to it's potential. The character development was minimal, the writing was so-so and there were lots of loose ends. Also, I had a hard time with the insta love/lust since these two were as different as chalk and cheese.
I'd probably give this 2.5 stars, putting aside my love for anything LH.

Neither good nor bad.
I had high hopes for this one but unfortunately, it didn’t quite turn out how I expected. To tell you the truth, I felt quite ambivalent about this book. The story started out strong but then dragged out in the middle. I found that the suspense was a bit bland and some parts of the story were nearly eventless. Thankfully, it picked up in the remaining 25% of the book, and it totally made up for all the dull parts. I was delighted by how things were all wrapped up neatly in the end.
Honestly, this book had a ton of potential. There was a brilliant plot here, but sadly, it didn’t hit its mark. While the creativity was off the charts, the chemistry between Caine and Lenna was nowhere to be found. My biggest problem with this book was that I didn’t feel any actual chemistry between them, and that could explain why the story didn't appeal to me in some way. Apparently, the romantic aspect of this book fell flat.
Nevertheless, these two authors created such interesting characters. I enjoyed both Caine and Lenna's characters just fine though Lenna could manage to get on my nerves at times. I must admit I was a bit disappointed, but not with the whole story. Aside from the boring and disappointing parts, it was enjoyable overall.
By the way, this was an ok read. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

This is an entertaining, well-written, paranormal, romantic suspense novel. It has likable and engaging characters, a sizzling romance, a unique premise, and a happily ever after ending. I listened to the audio book, and the narrator, Ms. Abby Craden, has a lovely voice and does an excellent job voicing the characters. I also own a paperback copy of this fantastic novel.

GREAT READ!!! i love linda howard's books. if you love paranormal wih a great romance you'll love frostline.our main character is lenna and she is given strength of tarot card and is tasked with protecting elijah a little boy who called to lenna for protection. she only has 5 days before her time runs out to save elijah and leave the mortal world,but a hunter named caine has been sent to bring lenna back dead or alive. the chemistry is hot and sexy between lenna and caine, and no matter how he tries to fight it he is pulled into lenna's dangerous mission and cant help but fall in love with this take charge woman!!

Frost Line by Linda Howard and Linda Jones is a 2016 Avon publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
I always enjoy Linda Howard and Linda Jones’ collaborations, but judging by the synopsis and the book cover, I was not sure if this was my kind of book. Paranormal romance is no longer a big draw for me, but I still like to read one from time to time. Although the book is listed as a mystery thriller, it is definitely paranormal, but also has strong sci-fi/fantasy elements, in my opinion, and normally I pass on those genres, but I couldn't take a pass on these authors because I love their other books, so I was determined to approach this story with an open mind.
The story got off to a good start, but I confess I got a little lost with the Tarot card symbolism, since I have never seen or touched a deck of Tarot cards. However, I managed to grasp the gist of the situation, and was able to follow the story despite my ignorance on that front.
Elijah is a young boy who witnessed his mother’s death at the hands of her politically powerful lover. He is now being hunted and is in desperate need of help. Unwittingly, he summons Leena, the living manifestation of the ‘strength’ card.
Rising to the occasion, Leena is determined to see justice done for Elijah’s mother and protect the child from the danger he is in. However, a ‘Hunter’ named Caine, is out to see Leena sent back to where she came from. But, Leena stands her ground, refusing to leave until her mission is complete. Thus begins an unlikely partnership between Leena and Caine, one that develops into something much more. But, what will happen once their mission is complete?
This is quite an imaginative story, and I enjoyed getting to know Elijah and loved how Caine and Leena put aside their personal agendas to protect him.
There are sub-plots going on too, with Leena dealing with some fierce competitions and another person lurking in the shadows looking for Elijah.
“His own childhood hadn’t been all that great. He’d seen kids who lived worse lives than he had, but seeing other people miserable didn’t help your own misery; it just gave you company. He could have done with less company.”
Although I had a hard time getting into the tarot card manifestation part of the plot, I enjoyed the book and really liked the way everything turned out in the end. This was a nice change of pace for me and I’m happy I decided to give the book a try.

This is a short book - quick read - by Linda Howard and Linda Jones. I liked it but I didn't love it.
The book starts out really strong when a 7 year old Elijah witnesses his mother's murder and escapes to a neighbors house to avoid the same fate. Scared, cold and hiding out in the neighbor's closet he accidentally summons "Strength" via a tarot card from her world to his. This begins a fantasy adventure. This first part of the story was really well done and pulled me into the story. However, as the story line progressed the suspense elements were more off page than on page and I missed the strong elements at the start of the story.
LH/LJ create a fantasy realm of the Arcana where earth is known as Seven. Some of the fantasy building is interesting but it is done with a broad brush and to some degree we don't get to know any of the characters but Lenna (Strength) and Caine (a Hunter). It becomes more romance between these characters and less suspense and story line.
I can't point my finger to one thing, but in some ways it seemed like the book had an identity crisis. I didn't think the suspense and the world building were blended as well as it could have been. I would have liked to seen more interaction between the suspense of the crime and the fantasy characters. I think the story had a lot more potential than it delivered.

That's what I thought finishing this.
Pretty meh.
It wouldn't have made any difference if I had chosen not to read this at all.
There wasn't any mystery and honestly I still don't see how Lenna made any difference in Elijah's life and why he needed her. (well what do you know? there's some mystery after all :p)
Quite frankly, everything resolved itself without them doing anything. Literally anything.
If you're looking to decide whether to read this or not? Go with Not. There is better, more interesting, shit around, trust me.

I am not a big fan of paranormal novels. I like my paranormal, if I read that genre at all, of the Nora Roberts variety. This one, however, struck me as more fantasy/mythology than paranormal, but I immensely enjoyed the plot device. The book spent very little time “building” the world of Aeonia. Most of the action takes place on Earth, called Seven by the Major Arcana. The premise is the Major Arcana of the tarot cards are real and have power over the worlds, but no direct contact. They live in a self contained paradise called Aeonia and have been confined there for thousands of years. They can view all the realms that exist and influence them, but they can't visit them--or at least they couldn't before the deck transported Lenna.
As a Romantic-Suspense it’s pretty good. I loved the interaction between the characters and how each came to love and respect the other. The suspense part was on two fronts and was woven through the story. The beginning draws you directly into the story, but the middle dragged.
When seven year old Elijah witnesses the murder of his mother, he runs fearing that “Uncle Bobby” will kill him too. He seeks refuge in the empty home of his best friend where he hides in the master bedroom closet. When he awakes terrified from a nightmare he discovers a magical deck of tarot cards that glow and seem to come alive. He calls to one card “help me” and Lenna “Strength” is pulled from her life on Aeonia and appears in the flesh in the closet with Elijah.
Lenna is, at first, at a loss as to how she got to Seven. Major Arcana haven’t been able to travel to other worlds for thousands of years. Not since the magic deck of tarot cards was destroyed centuries ago in the fires that destroyed the Alexandra Library in ancient Egypt. Finding the child and hearing his story, she vows to help him. The only problem--she only has five days to do so. After that, if she doesn't return to her world, Aeonia will be destroyed. If the deck in that closet is what brought her to Earth, then it is also her ticket home.
Hunters have been dispatched to bring Lenna back to Aeonia. Two hunters were sent by Veton “Chaos” who have been ordered to get the tarot deck no matter what the means. One Hunter, Caine, is sent to return Lenna and secure the deck. Caine finds Lenna but she isn’t leaving until she has completed her mission to help Elijah. That the only way to keep Lenna safe from the other Hunters is to keep her glued to him at all times to protect her with his shield is nothing less than sweet torture to Caine. But he will do whatever it takes to protect her and avenge the murder of Elijah’s mother.

Well this book is taking me places I didn't expect. Do I like it, you bet. For sure it's different but really has a strong story line. Stay Tuned

Wow lets start with this was not what I expected from the Lindas ! I really liked this book. I have the audiobook version and the reading was spectacular by Abby Craden. I think she is becoming one of my favorite narrators. The story line was strong but slowed down a bit in the middle, I personally prefer more action in books. Over all this is a book with a bunch of imagination involved. Strong characters and a great plot. The epilogue was fun however Elijah could get his own book. What an interesting kid.
This is more of a paranormal read than a mystery thriller.

Not recommended unless you’re a big fan of the authors. This didn’t feel like Linda Howard, especially the flat characterization of the boy Elijah. Howard’s kids are far more credible and three-dimensional, as with Tucker and Connor in COVER OF NIGHT, or Zane’s baby girl (Nick) in GAME OF CHANCE and MACKENZIE’S PLEASURE.
Apart from that, this book felt silly. Embodied tarot cards? I knew it was a long shot, but I hoped Howard -Jones would pull it off. Nope.
Relationships between Caine Hunter and Lenna Strength felt a bit shallow.
I finished it only because I wondered how it would end.

Печально, но это не более чем зарисовка. Костяк романа, так и не доведенный до ума.
Она - непреодолимая сила, вырвавшаяся в мир людей.
Он - охотник за магическими существами, который должен ее либо вернуть, либо уничтожить, но вместо этого влюбился.
Вместе они защищают мальчика, ставшего свидетелем убийства собственной матери.
Вполне себе такой стандартный сюжет и для фэнтези, и для романтического саспенса. Не без изюминки, конечно. Арканы таро и вообще все, что связано с этими картами. Неожиданно, необычно и интересно.
Но на этом плюсы закончились. Развитие отношений вышло неплохим, но недоработанным. Не хватило мне протянутых ниточек. Остросюжетная часть тоже штрихованная. Но самое печальное - мир. Такая могла выйти конфетка, а авторы лишь побросали обрывочную инфу по углам и на этом успокоились.
Честно, посидеть бы над историей еще немного, сгладить переходы от Ховард к Джонс (они заметны, да), наполнить мир красками и деталями, добавить героям объема - и я б не грызла этот кактус так долго.

She's living a peaceful life, studying warfare in her library in Aeonia when she suddenly finds herself transported to a different world. Lenna can't be out of Aeonia, separate from the rest of the tarot cards. It's forbidden and if she doesn't return to her own world in 7 days time Aeonia will be destroyed. Now summoned in this strange land by a young boy 'Elijah' in hiding who has no idea what he's done or how to send her back, she's stuck.
Caine is a hunter (a species on its own) of magical beings. They are kind of like mercenaries, hired to find, track and fix problems caused by magical beings. Caine is a infamous hunter, rumoured to be one of the most powerful hunter ever. His current mission is to bring back Strength which is not made easy by internal forces in Aeonia who are bound to cause chaos and Lenna herself who refuses to leave the child in danger.
I liked Lenna, she was strong and as the physical representation of strength she had will and determination in spades but just because she was strong didn't mean that she wasn't caring or vulnerable. Lenna really felt for Elijah who had witnessed his mothers death and wanted to help him. Now they are hiding from human forces, chaos's hunters and trying to find the murderer to make sure Elijah will not be harmed but will they make it back in time to stop the destruction of Aeonia?
Caine and Lenna feel an intense attraction towards each other which neither have felt before. Caine is never met a woman who talked back at jim like Lenna does, Lenna is very intriguing to him not just how beautiful she is but her personality as well. Lenna is also very much fascinated by the hunter. Their forced by the situation partnership turns into more when they start getting to know each other and can't help but fall for each other a bit more every single time. Alas, a hunter and a tarot can't be together in a longer term relationship or can they?
I really loved the whole tarot cards and the history behind them. It reminded me of old school paranormal/fantasy. I think Linda Howard and Linda Jones did a great job with the world building. The book was generally well written, the plot intriguing and I loved the characters.
Quibbles: I just wish we had just more romance between the protagonists, trying to save the child and then trying get back to their world didn't leave much time for romantic moments. What about Derek, the assassin for hire that bit left incomplete to me.
Overall I really enjoyed it and I'm not sure we would get other cards story but I love to read them if we do!

I really loved the whole tarot cards and the history behind them. It reminded me of old school paranormal/fantasy. I think Linda Howard and Linda Jones did a great job with the world building. The book was generally well written, the plot intriguing and I loved the characters.
Quibbles: I just wish we had just more romance between the protagonists, trying to save the child and then trying get back to their world didn't leave much time for romantic moments. What about Derek, the assassin for hire that bit left incomplete to me.
Overall I really enjoyed it and I'm not sure we would get other cards story but I love to read them if we do!

But she only has five days to do so because if she doesn't return to her world, Aeonia will come undone...
The main characters are interesting and likable, but I didn't like the plot building. Elijah, little boy
I liked the epilogue and that poofing sounded like fun.

I enjoyed this book. I love Linda Howard and paranormal mysteries. This is a new twist for her. With the help of her co author, they managed to make it a very good read. I enjoyed the mystery and the other world of it. I had the paperback edition as it was all my library had. This book was very stiff, pages were cut to close to the words and the back cover was sharp enough to give you a paper cut. Ideally I prefer the hardback version, but you take what you can get sometimes.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit, but I wanted more of it. Not in terms of length, but in terms of the story living up to its potential. There was so much more the authors could have done to turn this into a fantastic book rather than just an okay one.
So all in all, I liked the basic storyline in this book but it just didn't live up to its potential. The Elijah/Murderer story could have been much more exciting. The romance could have been much hotter. And the ending could have been much more exciting. All the groundwork was laid for this to be a spectacular book but it just didn't get there, which is really a shame.

What would happen if Tarot cards were based on real entities that lived on another world, but one of them was brought to earth by accident to help a human?
That is the premise of Frost Line by Linda Howard and Linda Jones. Incorporating a murder mystery, paranormal intrigue, and romance, this was an entertaining read, if a bit bizarre.
Lenna, the embodiment of Strength, is accidentally called back to earth by Elijah, a 7 year old boy who just witnessed his mother's murder. Hiding out from the murderer in a friend's house, he inadvertently spills a box of Tarot cards-and not just any cards, but the Alexandria deck, somehow rescued from the fire at the library of Alexandria. This deck actually connects the beings in Arcane with other worlds and allows the entities to travel.
When Lenna disappears, the Emperor sends one of the most powerful of Hunters, Caine, after her. But Tower, also known as Chaos, sends out three Hunters of his own, instructed to bring him the deck and kill Lenna if necessary.
Lenna is able to save herself and Elijah from human hunters, but it takes Caine to save her from the paranormal hunters. But his protection requires that he stay within a couple of feet of her all the time. Not only is this frustrating, but hampers their ability to try and find the man who killed the child's mother. Can these two actually find a murder, an HEA and return to Lenna's home?
In general, I like Linda Howard's books without Linda Jone's input, simply because Howard deal less in the paranormal than Jones. Its not a bad book, just a bit too far fetched to be in my comfort zone.

I am SO tired of the practice of authors farming out their work so that they can trade on the more famous name. Here, I swear that Howard wrote the beginning and then the other writer took over. The writing while in the POV of the little kid is great. I was so involved at the beginning, following the kid, and then suddenly I wasn't. And I should have been, because when the POV shifts is when the paranormal elements kick in, and I usually like that!
Plus, it must be really short. I can't believe I was actually at 19% when I quit, but that is what my Kindle says.
I am so glad I got it out of the library!

Fascinating, heartwarming story but unfocused; also, Elsa much?
When seven-year-old Elijah Tilley accidentally asks the tarot entity Strength for help, Lenna Frost is pulled from her world onto Earth. She’s completely out of her depth, but she vows to keep Elijah safe, receiving aid from Caine, a Hunter sent to fetch Lenna back to her world.
I had to ruminate on this book for a little while after I read it. At first all I could think about was how sweet and touching the characters’ arcs were, how interesting the premise was, how exciting the climax had been. But with distance and perspective, I could see the problems that have others rating this book three stars or worse. The issues make me wonder how short a deadline the Lindas had for this manuscript, because surely the story could have been ten times better if they’d just brainstormed a little more. As it is, I admire them for attempting to make this work.
Their first mistake was starting the story with Elijah. Many great suspense stories start with the crime before introducing the primary characters, because it’s an exciting, grabbing way to start a story and can provide insight into motivation and set the author’s desired tone…but it doesn’t fit for this one. And actually, I’m not sure Elijah was necessary at all. It should have begun with a scene involving Lenna and some other Arcana discussing the Alexandria Deck, foreshadowing. Or at the very least, it should have started with a scene introducing Lenna or Caine, since they and their romance are supposed to be the main focus. Unfortunately, they take a back seat to Elijah’s crisis.
The story just has too much going on. We didn’t need to see anything from the senator’s or Derek’s perspectives. Derek was unnecessary altogether and is a loose end that only gets half-*ssed tied up. But unfortunately, without Elijah and the senator, Lenna and Caine wouldn’t have had anything to do, necessitating an entirely different plot. But with Lenna helping Elijah, Caine helping Lenna and the Emperor, the other Hunters helping the Tower, the senator covering up his crime, and Derek helping the senator, not to mention the enigma of the Alexandria Deck, the book was way too cluttered and should have gotten a liberal red-pen lipo. If they’d simplified the plot and done more world-building and character-developing, thrown in some comprehensive backstory, the Lindas would have had a better piece of work on their hands.
Whether the characters were necessary or not, I loved them. Well, not the bad guys, but I loved Elijah, Lenna, and Caine. Elijah was adorable. Lenna had a beautiful, subtle arc in which she went from a disinterested and distanced immortal being to a loving, caring woman, craving to experience life. Caine had his own quiet arc, much like Lenna’s—distant, unemotional mercenary to caring, vulnerable man in love. But as much as I loved Elijah, I don’t think he should have been there at all. We should have been given glimpses of Lenna’s and Caine’s current lives, then the Alexandria Deck would have stirred up trouble, and Lenna and Caine could have found themselves an unlikely, unfriendly pair thrown together by circumstances to deal with the Deck’s trouble, gradually falling in love as they sought a solution. Has it been done? Yes, but the fantasy/paranormal flavor would have been a fresh spin on the common setup.
The writing was good, but there was a little too much thought process, and it was irritating when I had to endure that of the inconsequential characters like Derek and the senator, and even the other Hunters. It was a waste of time. Not only was the plot crowded and unfocused, but it was rather dragged out, any progression delayed with ridiculous excuses. There are also many questions unanswered, or rather, stories untold. Why did Zack’s dad bring home all those magical artifacts? Was he aware of their power, or did he think they were just cool junk? What are those artifacts’ stories? How did the Alexandria Deck come to be in his seemingly random possession? Is he somehow related to the wizard/sorcorer/magician (the book was never really clear on its brand of terminology) who created the Deck? How did the Deck survive the fire at the Alexandria library? What has it been doing for the last several thousand years? How come none of the Arcana, who were supposed to be able to sense the Deck, could do just that? What do the Arcana do all day? What are the other worlds?!
Now that I think about it, we don’t know jack squat about the bigger picture here. So much untapped potential!!
For all that, though, the story wasn’t unlikable. As I said, the main characters were endearing and I cared about them. There were humorous lines of dialogue and well-described settings. My favorite part by far, however, was the climax. I won’t give it away, but I was absolutely riveted when I read it. It was so exciting and emotional and frustrating. If there was anything wrong with it, it had a little too easy a fix. The drama and stakes could have been played out a bit more. But I loved it, and I know I’ll be revisiting it for the high I get off it.
I have absolutely no idea why frost, ice, snow, and cold was relevant to Lenna’s being and powers—which drives me crazy; why?!—but I have to say, she made one h*ll of a bad*ss Elsa. Like, seriously. She had Elsa’s powers. She was adult cosmic entity PG-13 version of Disney’s Elsa, and while she was unleashing her temper and her powers, I imagined X-Men-esque special effects. In my head, it was pretty awesome.
With all the criticisms I could lay down, I should give this book three stars, but I’ll give it four just because it’s so d*mn promising, if only the Lindas could figure out exactly which story they want to tell.
Also, I have no idea why it’s called Frost Line. “Frost” I get, sort of, but “Line”? There might have been a bit that tried to make the connection, but I didn’t retain it.

Frost Line was really good! The very beginning of the book piqued my interest immediately. It began with a little boy named Elijah who is seven years old and witnesses a very tragic event.
While he is hiding he inadvertently calls someone from another world and her name is Lenna who is from Aeonia. When she steps foot on to planet earth, the reader learns that it is called Seven in their world. If she does not return to her own world then Aeonia will collapse. She knows that hunters will come from Aeonia to force her to return, but she meets Elijah and promises to help him.
She is known as STRENGTH because of her strong mind and her ability to detect things that others cannot. Caine comes to Seven to force her back to Aeonia but he can’t without a card from the Deck of Alexandra. Even though he’s known as a one-man-army, he needs the card to complete the deck.
Tarot cards play a very pivotal part of this story, along with magic, super powers (which at 7 years old Elijah completely believes in!), suspense, mystery, and (of course) some pretty darn good romance!

Relectura y subo de 2 a 3 estrellas.
Suele pasar. A veces una relectura aporta a la experiencia con un libro que la primera vez no habíamos disfrutado tanto.
Esto ya lo he comentado muchas veces pero, durante los años 2020 y 2021 me hice con todos los libros de Linda Howard ya que es mi escritora favorita de Romántica, y ya que estaba decidí hacer una relectura de toda su bibliografía. Llevo un buen ritmo, estoy contenta y, además, cumplió su función que fue animarme durante la pandemia y llevarme a un lugar del pasado en el que había disfrutado mucho y estaba cómoda. Algunos libros de Howard los he leído infinidad de veces, otros no tantas. Este es uno de esos libros que solo leí una vez y nunca más lo revisité. No sé porqué no me gustó porque la verdad es que esta vez me ha gustado y estoy casi segura de que en el futuro querré volver a leerlo.
La premisa es original y muy curiosa, nuestra protagonista es la personificación de uno de los arcanos mayores del tarot. Por circunstancias, acaba en el mundo humano y un cazador es enviado para devolverla a su mundo antes de que su ausencia provoque la desaparición de los arcanos y su hogar.
La relación que tiene la protagonista, Lenna, con el niño, Elijah, es muy tierna y me encantó cómo lo solucionan al final las autoras. Caine es un poco cabezón, pero bueno. Al final es un trozo de pan 😅
La edición que tengo es la de bolsillo de Avonbooks, sinceramente, es una c*ca. En serio, cuesta muchísimo abrirla para leerla con comodidad. Por lo menos la letra tiene un buen tamaño, así que no corremos el riesgo de quedarnos ciegas. Odio con pasión estas ediciones. No sé en qué estaba pensando cuando la compré, seguramente el precio 🤣 La ilustración de la cubierta es preciosa, sí. Creo que muy adecuada a la historia. Que el libro hubiese sido un pelín más grande no habría estado mal. Es la edición en inglés, del año 2016. Alguna errata que otra pero nada fuera de lo normal.
Y, a ver, que no lo he comentado pero este libro (y otros) está coescrito junto con Linda Jones.

Caine wondered if he should be insulted that Lenna apparently considered "him" imperfect, but she was kissing him and he didn't give a damn about insults.(pág.242)
In the fatalistic approach of Seven, it was what it was. Elijah was hers, now and forever, in a way she couldn't explain.(pág.310)

Since I really love Paranormal Romance, I was super excited when I received an email about ‘Frost Line’. When I read the words Tarot, and magic I knew I needed to read this book. I used to love reading books about Tarot cards and magic. And it had been a very long time since I read any books involving those two things.
‘Frost Line’ is a very easy to read book. The writing is easy to follow, and the story is not to complicated. Although the whole manifestation of a Tarot card still sounds a little ‘too’ much to me, I liked getting to know the characters in this book with their ‘powers’. Especially Lenna’s character.
Lenna finds suddenly finds herself on Earth. A little boy called Ethan is suddenly all alone, and he is so scared that he somehow summons Lenna. Although Lenna can’t stay long on Earth, she is determined to help the little scared boy. But soon there are ‘Hunters’ out there, searching for Lenna. And not all of them are good.

I really liked this book. It is different than any book by Linda Howard. It was co authored by Linda Jones who I am not familiar with myself but this was a great story line as well as a fast paced draw you in book.
I don't believe I have ever read anything about the Arcane taro cards before, but it was fascinating. Our story starts with a young boy who witnesses the death of his mother by a man known as "Uncle Bobby."
I'm hoping this is going to possibly be a new series but we shall see.

Still on the lookout for the self-published book from L.H. & L.W.J. that continues the vampire saga with Chloe and Luca. Yes, vampire romances have been played out, but L.H. makes everything she writes worth reading.

I didn't finish this. I listened to it as an audiobook and after the second protagonist started to repeat the rules of the world for the third time, I couldn't take it anymore. The problem with 2 authors trading off chapters is that they sometimes tread the same ground. I listened to over 2 hours and it still felt like the story hadn't really started.

Die Geschichte beginnt eher wie ein Krimi und auch vordergründig steht das Lösen des Falles und das Kind Bobby.
Mir hat dieser Krimi Aspekt sehr gut gefallen - ich lese zu gerne Romantic Thrill.
Zusätzlich ist die Welt der Arkanen sehr spannend gestaltet.
Ich hätte mir da noch etwas mehr Details und Tiefe erhofft, da ich die Welt einfach zu spannend finde.
Das Zusammenspiel von Caine und Leena fand ich toll - es ist schlagfertig, leidenschaftlich und doch zärtlich. Caine ist ein eher wortkarger, sturer Jäger, für ihn steht das Erledigen eines Auftrages an erster Stelle.
Leena ist die Kraft, stur, herzlich und durchdacht. Sie ist auch etwas naiv auf der Welt - da die Arkanen abgeschieden leben.
Die Geschichte hat mich einfach gefesselt und ich habe das Buch in zwei Tagen verschlungen.
Es gibt ein paar Ecken, die meiner Meinung nach noch etwas mehr Details vertragen hätten.
Aber alles in allem wurde ich gut unterhalten und das Lesen hat Spaß gemacht.

Hmm; very interesting world built here. Too bad there’s no sequel. This is the second attempt I’ve read where the author has attached people to the arcana. This one doesn’t irritate me by being overly ambitious and using characters that are barely tolerable as MCs.
The h is drawn into our world by a frightened little boy who, while hiding in his buddy’s parents’ closet from a killer, manages to knock over and activate a set of ancient tarot cards. The H is hired to retrieve her. Three others like him are sent by someone else to retrieve the cards and kill her if necessary. She separates the deck, thus keeping anyone from taking her home, and since she knows where they are...
Poor H has to keep her close to hide her from the others - she refuses to let him know where the cards are until the kid is safe. Close proximity plays merry hell on both of them.

I love Linda Howard's books - I've read almost all of them and have loved most, if not all of them. This book had a LOT of potential. The plot line seemed like it would be really interesting - I love tarot cards and I would have loved to learn more about them through the characters of the novel. And while there were some things that I learned and there were some interesting parts of the plot, the story line wasn't as developed in the way I thought it would be. The characters felt a little flat to me - they were a little underdeveloped and the chemistry between them fell a little flat. Overall I didn't love this book but it seemed like it would have been really interesting!
