Tonight Neverland is fleshed out with plenty of plant life, certainly bettering 2011's production of Jack and the Bean-Cactus. So, with no further ado, please put your hands together for J.M. Barrie's Christmas classic : Peter Pan!
The inept and accident-prone Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society set out to present J. M. Barrie's classic tale of Peter Pan , their most audacious production to date. Flying? Pyrotechnics? Sharp hooks? What ensues is two acts of hysterical disaster. You'll laugh, they'll cry. Something so wrong has never been so right.
From the mischievous minds of the West End and Edinburgh hit The Play That Goes Wrong comes this highly original, chaos-filled re-telling of J.M. Barrie's much-loved classic.
Peter Pan Goes Wrong received its world premiere at the Pleasance Theatre, London, on 10 December 2013 and transferred to the West End on 4 December 2015. This edition was published to coincide with the West End transfer.
The play itself is a 5 star. The book published is not an excellent representation of it though. It is not always clear in the directions of what is "improvising" while much more consistent keeping track of Denis's headset antics. Aand there are simple typesetting errors. But it is very handy to refer to, especially to see what Robert the pirate is actually saying, and the story is delightful.
While not as laugh out loud hilarious as THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, it is still a very funny play. It also manages to retain moments of charm from Barrie's original play. Having been in a production of Peter Pan a few decades ago, I was surprised how many of lines from Barrie's play came back to me.
And the hilarity continues from the folks that brought us The Play That Goes Wrong! Peter Pan Goes Wrong in every delicious way you can imagine. Just think of a production of Peter Pan that you've seen, and picture any one aspect of it going wrong...I'll wait....Now imagine that multiplied by 1000. Fly rigs, sets, lights, actors, sound cues it all goes horribly wrong in this hilarious piece!
Perhaps even more than this group’s other comedies, the intricacies of a play-within-a-play felt even more rich and incredibly tightly constructed to result in a great combination of heartfelt warmth and delicious humor. Really brilliant originality here!
Hilariously funny script of a farce from Mischief Comedy. It centres around the Cornley Polytechnic amateur dramatic society's attempts to put on the play Peter Pan.
I stumbled across the performance Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society did of this play when I was browsing through musical bootlegs. So glad for the accidental discovery of this incredibly hilarious play :)
