I liked other books in this series better, but this was still a good shifter read. I enjoyed the hero and heroine, but wish their relationship had been a bit more developed. Another bonus is it was offered as a kindleunlimited. Even though I didn’t love this book, I will still eagerly read the other books in this series.

This is such a fun series. So romantic and the heroes are so swoon-worthy.

Something I appreciate, too, is how diverse the heroines are. Curvy, thin, tall, short, white, bi-racial, etc.

In my dreams, Moxie North would write a heroine that is truly plus size. Like...a size 26 or bigger.

2.5 stars, and I'll start with the negatives:
The writing started off clunky (ie editing issues) then improved a little as the story progressed. But by then, a huge chunk of the book ended up being sex scenes strung together by a little action and a weakened plot.
I found Brooke's parents bordering on stereotypes, with a dose of split personalities.
Growing up and living in the Bay Area, I know that the city and UC Berkeley is spelled Berkeley - not Berkley.
On several occasions, I found Brooke a sneaky bimbo, and it had nothing to do with her amnesia. For example, she's tucked away in the SHERIFF'S cabin, and the alarm system is in place...why would she suddenly get 'scared' and want to cuddle/sleep in his bed? What a lame plot device. It would have been better to just have her admit that she wanted to jump his bones. Tanner (sheriff) is a hottie who's into her, after all. (I think the scene ended up with them having sex anyway, so...lol).

And now for the positives:
The overall story was cute, and I appreciated the shifter info. The main characters were likable enough.
And there were some parts that made me howl. For example...the first time Tanner strips naked in front of the non-believing Brooke, to show his shifter nature...'Brooke took in the long, thick d**k in front of her. It could be hers if she was willing to swim in the crazy pool'; and a comment from the petite, outrageous Cassie...'Bitch, I’ve got the metabolism of a cracked out gerbil'.
For me, the humor saved this read from getting a lower rating.

Tanner is a good Sheriff

This is a book in a series of a large family of Rochon Bear shifters. They are all good males seeking mates. This story is for one of the cousins Tanner who is the Sheriff. His cousin George scared a human female by accident and needs the Sheriff’s help. They find the beautiful Brooklyn Nishi, hospital administrator. They help her. Once she opens her eyes, Tanner recognizes his mate. It is an easy romance for these two even through the dangers. Read On!

Loved it!

I am loving the Rochon family! Brooke's introduction to them may have been dramatic, but Tanner Rochon has every intention of getting his mate to their HEA!! The intensity is on point, the steam level is perfect, and the family interactions really make this series; I can't wait to start the next story.

With every book I fall more in love with this series. Thank goodness there's a lot of Rochon cousins to keep my addiction to this family satisfied. Most families would proudly say "My son, the Sheriff." Yet, in Tanner's family he's essentially the proverbial black sheep, along with his cousin, Eddison, the Doctor, whom we also meet in this story, because they didn't go into the family business. But we all have to choose our own path in life and Tanner's choice eventually led him to his mate. *psst...this could easily lead to him throwing out an "I told you so" or some "Nanner nanner nanners." But Tanner is an adult and doesn't go there. LOL*

Now for Tanner's other half, Brooklyn, she too forged her own path regardless of her Dad's not too subtle wishes that she follow in his footsteps as a Dr. But Brooklyn knew that wasn't for her and became a nurse instead, then turned that into a job as a hospital administrator. (She's a little *cough cough a lot* OCDish about organization, so the job is perfect for her, she loves it, and the staff love her.) However, Brooklyn witnesses a double murder and knows she's in trouble. After returning home and seeing the damage done there, she wisely gets the heck out of California.

Fate is a wonderful thing though, isn't it? She winds up in the same town as Tanner and due to a mishap caused by Tanner's younger cousin, Gabe, she needs medical attention and thus Tanner and Brooklyn are brought into each other's lives.

Tanner is immediately drawn to her and can't seem to stay away from the hospital. Once he's able to determine who she is, he contacts her parents. Oh my gosh, I love her parents! I don't want to say too much about them though, because I think it'll be more fun for you to experience them yourself. I will say that I wish I had people like them in my life. They're a hoot.

So now Tanner knows who his mystery woman is, but unfortunately she doesn't know who she is. Brooklyn has amnesia and her whole life is pretty much a blank slate. Can you imagine how scary that would be? I wanted to hug her and tell her it would all be okay.

Obviously Tanner and Brooklyn have a lot to deal with and on top of that, Tanner recognizes that she's his mate. While Brooklyn is adjusting to all that's going on, just to be safe Tanner doesn't want her to be alone. (Oh yeah, did I neglect to mention there's a contract out on her?) Tada...enter one of my favorite couples, Cash and Cassie. Brooklyn and Cassie spend some time together, before Cash gets home from work, and Cassie is her usual awesomely quirky self. I think people just see the surface of her, yet don't realize that she just has a different way of viewing things. Plus, because people don't expect it from her, she's able to get her point across without the other person realizing it. I need a Cassie in my life.

So can Tanner get rid of the danger to his mate? Will Brooklyn remember what happened? Will she remember who she is? Will Brooklyn be able to accept Tanner's furry other half? If so, where will they live? I highly recommend this book, this series. While you don't necessarily need to read the previous books to be able to follow this one, I do suggest you read them to get the full enjoyment of the characters, both prior and new. You'll love them all.

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

As Sheriff of Apex, Washington, Tanner Rochon has found his perfect spot. It’s what he’s always wanted to do, the lumber business never interested him but staying close to his large family did matter. And as sheriff he could do a bit more to protect his family’s special abilities. Life was good, and if he was getting a bit itchy about finding his mate, well he trusted in the fates – he simply wished they’d hurry up a bit on sending him that perfect woman. Little did he know that a mischievous extended family member would help put his mate in Tanner’s direct path.

Brooklyn had been in the wrong place at the very worst time. Being a witness to a killing in her hospital’s ambulance bay sent her on the run for her life. She couldn’t go home, because someone had already been there. So she withdrew cash from savings, rented a car and took off – where she didn’t know but it had to be far away from San Francisco and the men there who would kill her on sight.

She’d been staying in a small motel in the tiny town of Apex. Surely here in the near wilderness of Washington state she could take a breather and think of what to do. Taking a walk in the woods near the motel to simply think, the last thing Brooklyn expected was to run into a bear – and she did run away, too bad that she fell and hit her head on a log and remembered nothing.

Tanner had felt the pull of the beautiful woman he’d rescued from the creek. He didn’t know why exactly, but his bear wanted to be at the hospital with this woman not here investigating who she was and what happened to her. When Tanner had gathered the woman’s identification from her motel room he finally gave in to his bear and headed to the hospital – only to get the surprise of his life when he looked into the eyes of his mate, and realized that she had no idea of who she was or why she was running. How in the world was he going to get his mate to accept him, fall in love with him since she was clearly human, when she had her own troubles to deal with? He had no clue, but he knew one thing – this was his mate and he would do everything in his power and beyond to protect her come what may.

I really enjoyed Tanner and Brooke’s romance. She is one sassy lady who takes nothing from anyone… even though she cannot remember much about her life before the accident. But she knows one hot sheriff when she sees one that for certain. Tanner and his family are in protection mode and until answers finally emerge from her memories Brooke is tentatively enjoying spending time with Tanner.

We will run into Cassie again, that wonderful purple haired pixie and her giant of a man Cash. I adore Cassie and her no nonsense acceptance of what the Rochon family consists of. She sets Brooke straight on several points and becomes the friend that she desperately needs right now. Tanner should probably thank Cassie for the slight push she gave to Brooke to accept his bear and all that comes with loving a shifter.

If you love Shifter Romance, then Bearly A Memory is a sexy, hot, intriguing and simply fun story that adds more to the Pacific Northwest Bear series. I would definitely recommend this one and any of the other stories in this series.

ARC free book for an honest review:

Moxie North "Rocked it"!!!! She has another winner with "Bearly a Memory" in the series of the Pacific Northwest Bears. Another fan said 'Thank God there are plenty of Rochon cousins and family to keep our addiction to this series going." Like in the movies it is hard to keep a book series going and keeping the fans interested. Well Moxie North out did herself with the Rochons. You have the Sheriff trying to protect a innocent from the bad guys, but what is added to this is the innocent is his life mate. Who would have "thunk?" Moxie made this a hit by keeping some of the characters from past books alive in this one. Those characters blended in and made the book so damn good you do not want to put it down. Oh and let's not forget we also know now there are more books to come!!!! I literally could not put this book down till I had completely read it.

Brooklyn Nishi likes order, and stability and this includes labels on everything and clothes separated by color, and following the rules. Then she has to run for her life -- and everything familiar vanishes in an instant. Brookly Nishi wanted to go into nursing and could not take the "blood and gore" so she went to in Administration in order to still be able to help in the medical field. She didn't realize that even this could not protect her from the "blood and gore", and now she is on the run.

Tanner Rochon is the Sheriff of Apex Washington because of his love for his town and his family. He had no interest in the family lumber business. He loves being Sheriff to this small town in which his family owns most of it and lives in it as well. What he wasn't expecting was to find his life mate at deaths door passed out in a creek in the woods. He immediately knows she is in trouble and he has to do what he has to do in order to protect his life mate.

Brooklyn's loss of memory presents a challenge for Tanner in order to get her to trust him and his family to protect her Is Brooklyn ready for life outside of the order she has to have? Can Tanner and his family protect her from the terror on the way after Brooklyn?

Your going to have to read the book to find out what is in store for Tanner and Brooklyn. It is an awesome book and I promise you Moxie North did not let us down. Read it......fall in love with the Rochon family all over again.

Two Thumbs Up!!!

Brooklyn Nishi was a hospital administrator who witnessed a terrible crime at her place of employment in San Francisco. To keep her loved ones and herself safe from the culprits she ran.

She ended up in Apex, Washington where she saw Gabriel, another one of the Rochon's cousins in his bear form while on a walk resulting in her having an accident.

Tanner Rochon was the sheriff in Apex, Washington. He wanted the same thing that every shifters wanted....To find true love, have a family, his ONE was closer than he least expected.

Tanner and his bear were drawn to Brooklyn, they wanted to protect and care for her. She was theirs but how do you tell your beloved that she's yours when she doesn't even know who she is?!

Loved the way Tanner took care of Brooklyn, the latter fell completely in love with the former and vice versa. They didn't let anything nor no one come between them. Meeting the Rochons was such a memorable and interesting moment for Brooke.

BEARLY A MEMORY had my attention from the first word until the end of the book. Brooke fit in in Apex like she belonged there which in a way she did....The way Brooke fought the urge to say yes to Tanner right away after finding out about him being a shifter was done perfectly.

The instant friendship between pixie Cassie and sassy mouth Brooke was a delightful treat. It was great to see how the Rochons had each others' backs, Brooke couldn't have asked for a better family to be a part of.

Moxie North did it again, she never cease to amaze me. The Rochons have been like an extended family to me as I'm sure they are with the author and many other readers. Looking forward to meeting more members of this wonderful clan. 5++++

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Brooklyn Nishi witnesses a double murder outside the hospital she works at and flees for her life. Brooklyn is half Black and Japanese, and human. She makes it to the small town of Apex, home to the Rochon Bear clan. She runs into Gabe a young bear shifter in the woods and wound up half submerged in a creek, with know on the back of her head, and a case of amnesia. She also hits the lotto in the mate department. Sheriff of Apex, Tanner Rochon helps rescue poor Brooklyn and once he gets a look at her opened eyes, he knows he has finally found his One.

Tanner chose not to go into lumber, which is the family business. He chose law enforcement so he could stay close to his family. Tanner is reasonably upset when his young cousin, Gabe comes in to say he spooked a human woman in the woods while he was in bear form. He gets aggravated as he tries to uncover the identity of the poor woman. He searches her hotel room, finds her identification, and contacts her job and family. It seems foul play may have caused Brooklyn to flee town, is she in danger, or on vacation?

Tanner now has to sort out what the truth really is, all while trying too woo his mate, and keep his bear from claiming her before she is ready.
Tanner call in his family to provide protection for Brooke while she is unaware of who she is. He keeps in contact with a detective in California on her safety, as well as with Brooke's parents. He and Brooke form an attachment to each other, while getting to know each other. There are some hilarious and eccentric family members on both sides. This is a great book.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book can be read as a stand alone but I recommend you read the series to understand some of the references to other characters in this book.

In this book we meet Brooklyn Nishi and we get Tanner Rochon. Brooklyn is a very determined woman, some would even call boring. Brooke originally thought she would go into medicine like her father but the site of blood and gore turned her stomach so after getting her nursing degree she got a business degree so she could still be a part of the medicine she knew so much about but not have to deal with everything she couldn't handle. One night while finishing up some paperwork she was told about an ambulance coming into her bay with very little notice. She wanted to give them a piece of her mind about giving them time to prepare for any patients but what she found changed her life forever.

Tanner knows the instant he sees this woman who has come into their town that she is his mate if only he could get her to wake up and tell him why she is here. When Tanner goes to see Brooke the next day his bear is hooked the new problem she has no memory and knows something bad has happened her and it isn't her memory loss. The more the sheriff finds out about his woman the more determined he is to protect what he already knows to be his.

This book is amazing it hooks you from the first word to the very last. It reminds us that love will show up when you least expect it. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

BEARLY A MEMORY-A suspenseful romantic story.

This story features; Brooklyn, a curvy, intelligent, extremely organized beautiful hospital Administrator; Tanner, a strapping, traffic-stopping gorgeous, charismatic, bear-shifter and Sheriff in Apex, Washington.

Brooklyn was genuinely happy with her organized life until she is witness to a horrific crime, and has to flee her job and home. Having an accident in the woods of Apex, she ends up being rescued by Tanner and is admitted to the hospital. Meeting Tanner catapults Brooklyn into a whole new world.

FANTASTIC well written creative read by a truly gifted author. The characters spring to life with the suspense and fabulous scene descriptions. The chemistry between Brooklyn and Tanner is convincing and unwavering; their romance is steamy and passionate. I loved all the characters, the family moments, and humor; a most gratifying read. Bearly a Memory(Pacific Northwest Bears #5) by Moxie North

Brooklyn Nishi works in the local hospital. She loves people but not the blood and gore, thats why she's the administrator. When she goes outside to talk to the ambulance crew, she sees something she shouldn't have and she runs for fear of life. When she has an accident, everything familiar vanishes, she finds herself in an unknown place with unknown faces. She soon realises she has much bigger problems than the local sheriff.

Tanner Rochon is a bear shifter and sheriff of his small town. It's his job to protect the local community and keep the peace. When he finds an unknown woman in the woods, she brings chaos and peace to his life. All he knows is she is his mate and he will do anything for her.....even kill!

This was a very enjoyable book. I loved Tanner and Brooklyn's story. Tanner is a sweet hot shifter guy, whose calm and rational....until he meets his mate. Brooke was so funny, loved her dialogue. She was a really great female character. It was nice to catch up with some of the other characters from previous books, you just have to love Cassie. This was a very entertaining read but I did feel the first half was a little drawn out but nevertheless overall, it was a great read!

I reviewed this for an honest review. I just love shifter books and Moxie North has done a wonderful job on this bear shifter book.
Brooklyn Nishi was a beautiful curvy woman. She lived what she would call a duel life. She had been a nurse but could not stand the sight of blood and gore and so she became a hospital Administrator. That should be duel, right? She never thought she would be a witness to a murder and have a hit put out on her.
Reading about the Rochon boys was yummy. Tanner Rochon was a bear shifter. He was out searching for a woman in the woods what he was not expecting was to find his mate. He had spent his whole life searching and long for his mate and now here she was. He had to be wondering why life cannot be easy.
Not only does Tanner have to convince Brooklyn that he is a bear shifter, but she is his true mate, oh yeah and then to convince her to stay. Brooklyn has a lot on her plate. But the one thing she knows is Tanner makes her feel safe.
There are some part you will fall over laughing at in this book. I absolutely loved the characters in the book; like Cash and Cassie, Cage, Eddie (OMG he was funny), and even Brooklyn’s parents Haruto and Maybelle. Maybelle was just so hilarious. The only thing I would of changed about the book is I would of loved to see more a in person interaction with Tanner and Brooklyn’s parents.

This is one of my all time favorite series and Moxie North is one of my all time favorite authors. I love this series so much that I will go back a reread it when I'm in the mood for just something special. In this one we get curvy, intelligent, a little OCD organized Brooklyn and charismatic, gorgeous, bear-shifter Tanner who also happens to be the Sheriff in Apex, Washington.

Brooklyn witnessed a horrible crime and now is one the run. She has an accident in the woods if Apex and is rescued by Tanner. Brooklyn has no memory thanks to her accident and Tanner is more than capable of protecting her from the trouble that is coming for her.

This was another FANTASTIC read by Moxie North. I adored that she kept some characters from previous books in here and well Tanner was just awesome. Like all of the previous Rochon's he doesn't disappoint and I am thrilled that there are enough cousins to write about. I can appreciate Brooklyn's OCD because I have it as well and the instant friendship between Brooklyn and Cassie was great. There was simply nothing not to love about this book.

I really loved this book. Brooklyn (a human) who works as an administrator at a major hospital happens to see a mob hit on two members of a motor cycle club when she goes outside to check on an ambulance. She does not stay around as she is spotted by one of the hit men. She does not tell her parents or anyone she works with that she is leaving. She knows the hit men will be after her. She runs off to a small town to hide. While out walking she sees a bear and starts running away, but ends up falling and hitting her head. Tanner the sheriff (a bear shifter) gets the report of a hiker who may be lost in the wood and goes to investigate. He ends up finding Brooklyn injured and lying partway in a creek very near death. They transport her to hospital. She wakes up with amnesia but Tanner realises she is his one. His true mate. He not only has to protect her from the mob who is hunting her, but also from his bear who is very keen to make Brooklyn his mate. This is an enthralling story. Fast paced from start to finish. Absolutely love the dialog between Tanner and Brooklyn's parents who are a hoot. Thank you so much to Moxie North for this review copy. This is a wonderful series, looking forward to the next book.

I am in love with those Rochon men. And Brooke might not be thrilled that she had to witness a double murder, hit her head... and so much more you need to read....to meet one of those men. Sheriff Tanner Rochon's job was to protect her, but his bear knew more--she was the One he'd been waiting for. He just had to protect her, save her and tell her his secret. Not much...well since he is a bear maybe more than most.

The relationship, the family, the characters, are all worth reading again and again. This entire series is a keeper. I love falling for a couple or character and getting to see them again. Cassie from Bearly Healed has a great cameo and with Cassie you never know what to expect. Their family is growing and the news is fun to read about. Watching these mountainous men crumble for their women and babies makes you wish you could be in trouble from gangsters and a wolf gang--maybe not--but having one of those guys wouldn't be a bad thing. And neither is reading these wonderful books. I seriously recommend this one and them all.

I was lucky enough to be given an ARC for an honest review. You can use Kindle Unlimited but you are gonna want this one as a keeper.

I received the free for and honest review.

I loved Tanner Brook(lyn) from the very beginning.

Brook is a hospital administrator who saw something she shouldn't have seen. Now she'son the run for her life. On a brief walk in the woods behind her motel she's running again only this time she hits her head causing amnesia. She awakens in the hospital without a clue as to who she is & why she's there.

Tanner, the town Sheriff, lead a search & rescue mission to find a woman that a young bear scared while on his run in the woods. She's found and injured. When Tanner is finally able to look into Brook's eyes he is instantly spellbound. The scent of sweet lemons surrounds him aas he breathes in the scent of his MATE!

She's on the run from dangerous men who want her dead and he's law & order.

How does he explain explain Brook's his One and only mate and he's shared his body & soul with a bear when she doesn't even know who she is?
this book is sizzling sweet. I love this entire series. It's well developed and the characters have depth.

Brooklyn enjoys her orderly life as a hospital administrator until she witnesses a horrible event that sends her on the run. Tanner is a sheriff who also happens to be a bear shifter. When Brooklyn is discovered in his area with no memory, all he and his bear want to do is protect her and keep her. He knows she is his mate but the situation makes it difficult for him to pursue her. Brooklyn is very attracted as well but has no idea what the future holds for her.

I enjoyed the story. I liked how strong Brooklyn was during the tense situation. Tanner is a loving protector who anyone would be thrilled to have want them as their mate. He has no hesitation about doing whatever is needed to have her in his life. Brooklyn's mother is so funny. I loved those phone conversations. I think her parents deserve their own book. It is a good read and the author takes time to develop the characters before rushing the relationship.

Reading this book all I can think is that this pattern that Mixie North has for her characters just changes shapes and colors.

I am a huge fan of supernatural so every time I get my hands on a shifter/ supernatural book and dive right into the story.

This story was about Tanner, town sheriff, a Rochon and bear. As usual he is well built, strong, caring and devoted to his mate.
His mate, Brooklyn is of Japanese-African origins, curvy as usual and in trouble.

They met, he almost cried when finding his mate and she was less affected but attracted. A short courtship later and they get together.

I wanted much more from the story. The woman is again in need, has a lot of sarcasm to fuel to whole town, she is commitment phone and loves fatty food.
Can I have a vegan in my next story so I can feel that there is a difference between characters?
The Rochon guys are all behaving like servants at times.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review .Bearly a Memory is a really great read .Brooklyn, who works at a hospital is in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnesses a murder .She takes off fearing for her life ,gets injured and winds up with amnesia .Tanner the town sheriff who helps locate a missing woman who his cousin scared out in the woods takes one look at her and is instantly attracted to the mystery lady .Once she opens her eyes Tanner knows she's his mate but their journey to a HEA wont be an easy one .Tanner cant tell Brooklyn his inner secret and about mates until she regains her memory so he's trying to help her remember who she is and woo her at the same time as well as keep her safe because the bad guys are on her trail .This book was well written , full of interesting characters and flowed along at the perfect pace .I highly recommend this book to other paranormal lovers out there.

Brooke And Tanner

Brooklyn Nishi hospital, administrator and workaholic,A local Emt ambulance delivering a shooting victim, unauthorized even so Brooke goes down to investigate and see why they are not following protocol. She walks in on a double murder of MC gang members and Mob thugs. She runs, she follows her instincts and just flees directly to the area of her fated mate Tanner Rochon. But she is afraid and gets hit on the head and loses all of her memories. Tanner knows who she is to him and knows that he can not claim her until she knows who she is... talk about impossibilities. Give him the ability to keep her safe and allow her to love him as he loves her.
Can they make this work with barely a memory between them?? A Price on her head for her death. Tanner and his secrets, will Brooke be able to accept him for all of who he is?
