Fans of urban fantasy, Norse mythology, and Thor rave about The Ære Saga - S.T. Bende's bestselling teen series! Read this second chapter in the YA superhero fantasy saga about Norse gods . . . and the mortals who love them. Rule the realms. Brynn Aksel is a valkyrie—a battle goddess tasked with protecting both the God of War and the future of Asgard. She fends off giants and dark elves with an iron fist, a glossy smile, and no less than perfekt control. She’s focused one-hundred-percent on rising through the valkyrie ranks, and not at all on her lifelong crush on Henrik Andersson—the one guy in all the realms who could be her undoing. Henrik serves as War’s other bodyguard, and he’s too focused on protecting their shared charge to realize that Brynn’s a girl. When an unprecedented surge of darkness abducts the Goddess of Love, Brynn’s already-steely focus is singularly directed on her new assignment—accompany Henrik to recover the realms’ source of light before the cosmos descends into chaos. While battling demons, dragons, and the not-quite-dead, it becomes clear that immortality does not equal invincibility. And when Hel herself puts a hit on Brynn, the valkyrie has to decide if staying in control is worth losing everything . . . or if it’s time to rule the realms.
Before finding domestic bliss in suburbia, S.T. Bende lived in Manhattan Beach (where she became overly fond of Peet’s Coffee) and studied Shakespeare in Europe… where she became overly fond of McVitie's cookies.
Her Scandinavian heritage and a very patient Norwegian teacher inspired her YA Norse fantasy series' (Viking Academy, Ære Saga, Elsker Saga, and Alfheim Academy). And her deep love of a galaxy far, far away led to her writing children's books for the Star Wars franchise. As an experienced IP writer, she's written multiple books published by Disney-Lucasfilm Press and its licensees, and looks to expand into additional beloved IP projects.
When she's not creating stories, S.T. dreams of skiing on Jotunheim and Hoth.
Schade!
S.T. Bende…………………. My heart belongs to Ull but now you introduce me to Henrik!!!!!! I am so torn but I couldn’t get enough of this book. You have done it again and you have left me wanting more!
So Bryn is a Valkyrie in training & Henrik (Brother of Gunnar), he is the bodyguard for Tyr, God of War and one hell of a cook (sexy), a fighter, scientist and friend ***give me a second while I just drool for a second****
Being a Valkyrie in training has a hitch, you are not allowed to date, and sadly that puts Bryn in a difficult situation because she is in love with Henrik. This book follows closely to Perfekt Order. Once you start this book you will not be able to put it down! After I started Perfekt Order I immediately start Perfekt Control. Who need sleep when you have Henrik!!!! This book is action packed right from the beginning when Freya, the God of love, is kidnapped. What follows is the hunt to rescue Freya, otherwise all the worlds will fall into darkness as Freya's love is what balances us all. (You know a typical day for the gods)
One thing I will say I have loved about S.T. Bendes main characters is that they are independent and don’t take crap from no man, they stand up for themselves. Plus I find it cute and hilarious when there is banter between the couples, always makes for a good romance. You are able to feel all the emotions from the characters and it is like you have experienced the story yourself. S.T. Bende puts her heart and soul into the story and you can tell from her writing, the passion she has for these stories and the characters, shows what a real author she is. I am so blessed to have read her books and I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve for the next book!!!
Bende has brought us yet another exciting adventure where the world we know collides with the Asgardian legends and characters we have come to love! Henrik and Brynn have been two of my favorites ever since they were introduced to me for the first time in the Supernatural Chronicles Anthology. I love their banter, genius, and comradery. As you see more of their relationship in the first book of this series, you start to get excited for what happens when they finally have their chance. Bende does a great job of combining their strong sense of honor and duty with the reality of love and loss. Perfekt Control is a beautiful friends to more story that upholds everything we know about the Asgardian world and gives the reader a sweet and exciting story to experience.
This book is told through Brynn’s POV, so we know exactly what is going on in her head. If you have read the series, it is no surprise that she has developed feelings for Henrik. She is contacntly fighting her desires, honoring the Valkyrie code. The internal struggles are realistic for a young woman who is in love but cannot act upon it. She is filled with conflict, wanting what she cannot have and learning to bottle it up and embrace their platonic relationship. Brynn is a strong female lead character. In situations like the one in this book, the heroine can be whiny and frustrating. Not here. In this story, she accepts the emotion and makes a conscious decision to do what she is called to do and protect those she loves at all costs. Her journey in this book made me love her character even more.
This book picks up right where the first ended. There is trouble brewing and the group is in hiding, trying to determine their next step when everything explodes into chaos. This book starts off fast paced and keeps the reader moving quickly, just like the characters. Time is of the essence and they must do everything in their power to get back what was taken from them. The pace of this story is brilliant, giving the reader an understanding of the efficiently and duty these Asgardians place above all else. It allows the reader to understand Brynn’s predicament better. The love story is deeper than your average tale. It is a love that is sacrificial and strong, growing for years and learning to accept what can be and what cannot. This fact allows us to understand the predicament and the duty they all hold so dear.
Perfekt Control brings us back to a world that is exciting and unique. It allows us to see into the lives of the characters we have come to know and love in an adrenaline laced story. I loved seeing Tyr and Mia living in the midst of their love story. I enjoyed getting to know the other secondary characters better, making me even more excited for their stories. This book is true to form and reflects the best of Bende’s writing. I am so excited to see where the series takes us and seeing more of Brynn and Henrik!
This second book in the series follows Mia's best friend and epic Valkyrie warrior Brynn, who along with her mega crush Hendrik is protector of the Norse God of War! Until the beautiful love Goddess Freya goes missing she must band together and go on a mission with her crush for her whole life Hendrik Andersson!.
I love the character of Brynn she is such a badass warrior and could kick anyone's butt however she has such a sensitive side with a lot of things going on making her really relateable. She has so much going on with her past that she just hasn't dealt with it and watching her grow through this book and getting into her head was great and refreshing.
Its interesting to read from a characters POV that is in this Asgardian world and not looking in from the outside so the mythology is just great especially as we see a lot more realms in this one! This is definately not like any other book that I have read and is so different to Bende's other books. I love the plot and the way the story goes you never know whats going to happen or where they are going, I mean they really do go to Hel and back... literally. The writing style is just so easy that you fly through it as the story is so inviting and exciting as there is a bit more of a step up in the action department in this book. The other thing I love about Bende's books is the fact that the female characters are so strong and can stand on there own, they don't need a male character to save the day, this is especially true with Brynn but Hendrik is still lovely!.
I love the character of Hendrik and was so happy to find out that these 2 were getting there own book, he is just so smart, a badass warrior and also has a sweet side you really appreciate him as a character especially his relationship with Brynn. She has always thought of them as friend zone and it doesn't help that being a Valkyrie means she needs to wait till she is a captain with her honor intact before being able to meet her soul mate. But they have the best banter and its like at times there brain is the same as they bounce epic scientific ideas off each other.
Its great to see them grow together but also to see Brynn's relationship with other characters such as Mia and especially Tyr. Who has known Brynn her whole life like Hendrik but knows her feelings for him and understands what she is going through but gets it so he can be a shoulder for her to lean on.
Once again an awesome book, its great to not only continue on from the first book but to also see it take a new action pack turn. The next book is definitely on my must have list!
In this second instalment of S.t. Bende's fabulous Aere Saga, we discover that that age old adage "No rest for the Asgardians" definitely rings true. This time round, the tale unfolds through the viewpoint of Brynn Aksel - resident technical Goddess and vivacious Valkyrie.
Following straight on from the dramatic ending of Book 1: Perfekt Order, our favourite Norse Crew are ready for some down-time celebrating Mia's eighteenth birthday. However, the forces of darkness have other plans, launching a savage attack that ends with the abduction of Freya, Goddess of Love (and Brynn's boss). Tyr, God of War wastes no time mobilizing his troops, sending Brynn and Henrik off to gather intel and Alva dust before launching an all out assault to rescue Freya before Love disappears from the realms forever, leaving darkness to rule.. The mission is Brynn's top priority, but her perfekt control instilled in her by her Valkyrie training is sorely tested at every turn - temptation stares her in the face in the form of Henrik, her "TechGod" counterpart and long-time object of her unrequited and secret adoration - Valkyries are not allowed to date until they make captain rank and Freya only knows how long that will take to happen...and Brynn's not even sure Henrik is even interested in her. Add in Henrik's ex girlfriend and acute bifrost sickness every time they have to jump realms, Brynn's really not having a great day..... and it's gonna get a Hel of a lot worse before it's over.
S.t. Bende's imagination knows no bounds, and we are caught up in the action right from the get-go. As time passes and the different realms begin to be affected by the absence of love, S.t. creates a real sense of urgency as the worries, fears and doubts of the main characters emerge, masterfully weaving her spell around the reader as we empathise with our heroes, cheer loudly when the bad guys get what's coming to them and lose ourselves in the brilliance of her descriptions of the various realms the team visits in their search for Freya.
Perfekt Control has everything you could wish for and way more besides - fast paced action, edge of seat suspense, well choreographed fight scenes, true love, loyal heroes you love and villains you love to hate, a few heart-stopping moments and even a few happy tears. S.t. Bende continually delivers, and as much as I love her other books, Perfekt Control is definitely the best yet... Don't miss this series. It's a winner :)
The best word to describe ST Bende’s Ære Saga book 2 is: PERFEKT! I thoroughly enjoyed book 1, Perfekt Order, but honestly, for me, Perfekt Control is realms beyond its predecessor. I read it in 2 days and promptly added it to my Favorites Shelf. (I'll try to keep this review short, but it's hard not to express all I loved!)
In book 2, we again get to see Mia and her hunky Norse God of War, Tyr, but this time from the POV of his perky Valkyrie bodyguard, Brynn. However, being privy to Brynn’s thoughts shows that behind her bubbly exterior she locks her true feelings in a black box—her fear, grief, guilt, and secret love for bodyguard partner hottie Henrik Andersson. She prides herself on this Control. Let alone the Valkyrie rules against dating, Brynn pulls back to preserve the perfekt friendship and teamwork she has with Henrik. I loved watching the two interact, seamless fighting, brilliant tech-design as a joint mind adorably referred to as “Brynnrik”, and personality complements with rash, bubbly Brynn versus calm, grounded Henrik. From the first chapter, I was hoping against all the odds that the two would get a HEA…
In a perfekt analogy, after Freya—goddess of love and Valkyrie leader—is kidnapped, Brynn and Henrik have to follow her trail across dangerous realms, determine the masterminds behind her capture, and ultimately fight for her return before the realms all start experiencing the negative effects of being ‘love’-less.
I laughed, cried (some good tears too, don’t worry!), swooned, fumed, shook my kindle, sighed, and totally grinned like a loony at the science-nerdy and Norse-myth-geeky references ST peppered throughout the heart-gripping romance and exciting action. This is my favorite ST Bende book yet, and any fan of YA, NA, romance, norse mythology and fantastical action will love this book! I was also grateful for the little taste of Elsa’s beautiful soul-opening healing—she’ll narrate book 3—and I can’t wait to see if ST can trump herself yet again!
Get UR Battle God/Goddess on it's time to Rule The Realms!!! I'm 100% head over heels in LOVE with Perfekt Control. I devoured this book in one night, couldn't put it down even if I wanted to!!! Brynnrik is absolutely to die for, the chemistry was out of this world! What a ride this book is full of wicked twists, fun, killer action and smokin' hot romance. A story of love conquering fear and finding forgiveness. I totally adore Brynn she's a sassy sweet little fireball, so loving, full of spirit this vivacious valkyrie will steal UR heart! Henrik was awesome a geeky gorgeous mad scientist/badass bodyguard/chef. The way he never gives up on Brynn and fights for true love is amazing! I'm absolutely addictied to ST's books, dying for MORE BRYNNRIK, Tyr, Mia, Elsa, Forse and Freya! I hope Freya gets her own book. I really want to see the Goddess of love meet her Perfekt match ;) Mega Takk ST Bende for another breathtakingly beautiful read!!! I CAN'T WAIT FOR Elsa & Forse's book Perfekt Balance!!!
Another PERFEKT book by ST Bende, each book just gets better and better.
Book 2 we get to meet Mia and her God of War Tyr but it's mainly about 2 of my favourite characters Brynn and Henrik and is written from the beautiful Valkyrie's POV. It shows her fight to keep Perfekt Control over her growing feelings for hunky Henrik whilst trying to rescue the Goddess Of Love Freya.
Brynn prides herself on her tight control locking her feelings of guilt, fear and her love for Henrik locked up tight in a black box around her heart. The interactions between these 2 are amazing they compliment each other beautifully with their fighting together, their brilliant tech minds sparking off each other and even a bit of jealousy and heartbreak.
This is my favourite one yet as I love these2 characters and I'm hoping the whole way through for them both to get their happy ending together. Can't wait for the next book
The second book in the saga surprised me, in a very good way. I bought the first book and absolutely loved it and got the chance to win a copy of the second story. I didn't realize until I started reading it that the story continues with the point of view of another character but keeps everyone from the first story intermixed. That's what I get for not reading the story blurb but who needs it when I know the book is going to be great just because S.T. Bende wrote it? lol. I love that idea as it got me into knowing this other character much better. Where the first story was more yum yum Norse god this book was a lot more deeply involved into the back story and emotions that are deeply buried. It was a joy ride of emotions that I absolutely loved. Her style of writing makes it easy to stay involved in the story without getting too lost as there is a lot of stuff to remember in this special world she has created. It was a wonderful, powerful, emotional, read that I highly recommend.
Perfect Control is the second book in the AEre Saga, and what a saga it is. Henrik and Brynn are the bodyguards of Tyr the god of war and his girlfriend, human Mia Ahlstrom, we learned about them in Perfekt Order, book 1. ST Bende continues to draw us into her Relms. The book is exciting, it's sweet and it's an adventure. You travel with "Brynrik" into several relms, you feel like you are part of their effort to save the Goddess of Love before the world is impacted adversly. I really enjoyed getting to know Hottie Henrik, hunkie nerd & Brynn Valkyrie, smart, sweet and she can kick some serious tush (as Mia would say). I don't want to say too much, READ THIS Story, you will love it as much as I do. This book gave me everything i was looking for and more. I even got the beginning of a HEA.
Ahhhhh such a perfekt book it was so glorious it almost made me cry. Poor Brynn going through so much sadness and fear but at the end was able to let it all go and choose love. Brynhildr and Finnea are jealous bitc...... and Freya was all for Brynnrik. This book was an adventure and a romance story well mixed like Henrik Hotcakes. I mostly like this book because it showed realms not showed in the other books before and from what I've gather from this one and perfekt match this is before or during elsker saga?
This is the second of the series and it just gets better and better. I love how st bende builds on the relationship between the two characters byrnn and henrick and how you. Just want them to be together despite the promises made. The story is brilliant through the different levels and the ending is perfekt. Can't wait till the next one.
wow what can i say that others haven't already. S.T. Bende has really out done herself she just keeps getting better and better. this book was so nice to read and i loved the detail through out the book.
Awww it was sooo sweet! I loved Brynnrik!Their dynamic and chemistry were Prefekt. Even when I didn't understand a word they were saying (science is not my fort). I have to say, I loved this book more than the last one (sorry Tyr & Mia, still love you guys). Hope the next is even better.
In Perfekt Control, Freya Norse Goddess of Love, is kidnapped to lure Tyr into a trap. Odin orders Brynn and Henrik to search the realms for any sign or clue to her whereabouts. With the Goddess of Love missing, the realms being without love will fill with darkness. Brynn knows better than anyone what happens when Love is gone from the realms. Between searching for Freya, pushing back painful memories from her past, and trying to control her feelings for Henrik, Brynn has her work cut out for her. The forces of darkness are poised to attack and Brynn will need her perfekt control to get the job done.
In this second book in the Aere Saga, we get to learn more about Brynn and Henrik, more about the different Realms, more about the super-brain that is Brynnrik and the tech that they create. With Freya missing from the light realms, the dark realms are gaining more power and some strange changes are happening in each species. But what really took center stage was Brynn's battle within herself. There are so many things coming at her at once that her perfekt control is slipping, which isn't good within a Valkyrie.
I really enjoyed the more indepth look into the world the Aere Saga. Incidentally, I liked the description for Helheim the most. At the center, Helheim is the most dark and terrible of the dark realms, but it's descibed as incredibly beautiful, more like what you'd expect a light realm to be described. It makes me think about how so much evil can be hidden behind something beautiful. I loved the dilemma that Brynn had concerning her feelings for Henrik and how they conflicted with her Valkyrie oath. And I loved how their HEA happened. I wasn't expecting it to come about the way that it did. I also really enjoyed the Brynnrik moments. I think that only one who might understand half of what they were saying is Mia, since she helps them develope some of their tech. Oh, and I liked how we saw more of Elsa and her healing abilities. I think that was a really good set up for her story in Perfekt Balance. This latest addition to the Aere Saga really developes the world of this series, while also giving us more insight into Brynn and Henrik.
When we met Brynn in Perfekt Order, she was always upbeat and energetic. But for reason you'll find while reading Perfekt Control, Brynn isn't as happy and bouncy as she usually is. I'd even go so far to say that Mia seemed more energetic than Brynn in this book. Being a Valkyrie under the command of the Goddess of Love, Brynn has a lot that she needs to work out and she needs to choose whether she'll let her fear rule or if she'll let her love rule. Henrik is the other half of the Brynnrik super-brain and the object of Brynn's affection. I loved seeing more of Henrik. He's just as charming as he was in the first book and we even see this really sweet side to him, not to mention a more sexy side to him. I also really liked how competitive he is with Mia concerning their cooking. Brynn and Henrik make a perfekt team. They think the same and fight well together, which make them the perfekt bodyguards for Tyr.
So all in all, S.T. Bende has done a great job in expanding the world of the Aere Saga and has given us in depth descriptions of the realms and their people. Also the way that we are show how Elsa heals is a great set up for the next book, Perfekt Balance. It's also really nice that Tyr and Mia's story continues in this book and I liked how there's this kind of foreshadowing of Mia's possible future with them. While Perfekt Order set up the Aere Saga, Perfekt Control expands it outside of the Midgard realm and into the bigger universe. I have a feeling that some really amazing things are going to be happening in the future books in the series.
5+ stars Reviewed by Char for Late Night Books and Reviews.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely love Perfekt Control, the second book in the awesome Aere Saga. This book includes all of the characters from the first book but instead of Mia and Tyr being the focus, it shifts to Brynn and Henrik, who I have to say, we're my favorites from book one.
Brynn is a petite, beautiful valkyrie battle goddess assigned to protect the God of War, Tyr, with the smokin hot assassin/body guard Henrik Andersson. The three of them, along with many of their friends, are immortal gods from Norse mythology. Brynn is extremely smart, funny, sweet, caring and can totally kick some butt. She also has been in love with Henrik her whole life and for an immortal that's a seriously long time.
Henrik is the Perfekt book boyfriend. He is incredibly good-looking, sexy, really smart, fun, caring and can cook anything. What else could you possible want in a guy? He has been friends with Brynn and Tyr since they were very young and the three of them work very well together. It's quite obvious that they all care about each other very much but Brynn is worried that she will be forever set in the "friend zone."
Their adventure begins when the goddess of love is kidnapped and the fate of the nine realms is at stake because the worlds without love will turn to chaos in a very short time. Brynn and Henrik rush off to several of the other realms to find information on how to save the goddess and have all sorts of misadventures and fun.
I love the story line and the way ST Bende developed her characters. I found myself worried, concerned, embarrassed and excited right along with Brynn and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. I didn't want the book to end and I can't wait for the next one to be released.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Perfekt Control is book 2 in the Aere Sage by S.T. Bende. It follows Tyr's two body guards from Perfekt Order Brynne and Henrik
Brynne is a valkyrie and Tyr's 2nd body guard, Henrik is his primary guard. Brynne has had a crush on Henrik since her early school years but due to being a valkyrie she is forbidden from romantic relationships until she achieves the rank of Captain. The two of them are assigned a mission which upsets Tyr. Brynne and Henrik must rescue a kidnapped person and Perfekt control follows their ups and downs thru the mission along with how their relationship is changing.
The book is fast paced and the action scenes are extremely well written which I expect from the author. She has an amazing knack for writing action scenes. THe book starts a little slow in the first 2 chapters but that is a good thing as it gets you a little more familiar with Brynne and Henrik also it shows their friendship with Tyr and his human girlfriend Mia. Perfekt Order covered the beginning of Tyr and Mia's relationship but it continues to grow in this book. I can't wait for Perfekt Balance witch is book 3 in the Aere saga.
I received an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review. Its my most favorite of S.T.Bende's books. She outdid herself this time. This contains all the characters fro9m Perfekt Order, but focuses on Brynn and Henrik, from Brynn's point of view. Goddess Freya has been kidnapped and is up to our norse friends to get her back before all the worlds loose the ability to love.
****Spoilers ahead**** I tore my eyes away from Henrik's insanely sexy, steubble-strewn chin. The days he sported facial hair seriously tested my perfekt control.
Henrik Andersson has never been just a guy too me. And he probably never would be. I'd been head over heels for the boy next door since he defended my honor in the kindergarten playground roughly six hundred years ago, and my feelings hadn't changed in...ever.
Mange Takk S.T.Bende for another great book!!!!! Cant wait for Perfekt Balance!
I got an arc of this book for an honest review. 3 words to describe Perfekt Control Fabulous Perfekt and Amazing. Perfekt Control Brynnrik's book will leave you breathless. It has action adventure romance twists and turns, everything a person could want in a book. S.t. Bende never fails to amaze me with her books and she has a knack for writing a story that makes you fall in love with everyword you read and not want to put it down, and when you actually finish the book you want to cry because its over. Brynn, Hennrik are the Perfekt Couple and I was very happy to read their story that ending was so sweet that I was crying I was so happy. I cant wait for the next couple to show up and fall in love with St Bende writing all over again.
Another great book of S.T.Bende from Aere Saga! From the very beginning we jump in to the middle of some good action, it's claiming our undivided attention and not letting it go till the end! Kept me on the edge throughout the whole book. Interesting characters with variety of personalities and abilities. I love Nordic mythology and author is deepening the world of myths so somehow it's becoming your new reality. I highly recommend everyone who love myths and fantasy and S.T.Bende's style of writing like me. Can't wait for another one of the series!
I have read all of STs other books and this was by far my favorite. I felt so many emotions while reading this amazing book! Suspense, happiness, shock, happy tears and everything in between! ST has this amazing gift of drawing you in and making the character so real that you feel like you know them personally and you even start talking like them! Brynn and Henrik have stolen my heart and I look forward to many more fun stories from them!
