The war in Vietnam was a bitter and unpopular conflict for the American soldiers and people back home. It was also a war where the media played a big role.
Both French colonial rule and the American intervention in Vietnam failed, but why? Find out inside! Discover a timeline telling the story of the conflict and explore the battles, technology and tactics of combat.
Imagine you're in the humid jungles of Vietnam, the Vietcong ready to ambush your squad any minute and booby traps lay hidden across the ground and you're only a teenager. That was the experience for many Americans in the sixties.
After graduating in history at University College London, I missed writing about history whether it was Tokugawa Japan or the American revolution. As a graphic designer and writer I wanted to combine history with a fun graphical style. Now I present a gift to children who have a curiosity about the world around them and its rich past, in the form of my series 'Simple History'.
The author does a great job not only explaining a war that is almost impossible to understand, but goes into detail about people, countries, weapons and the vehicles used. Thanks to Daniel Turner for making history interesting and informative in a way that will keep children's attention and maybe even help adults learn a little something too.I loved the illustrations, the quiz at the end and the definitions of words even adults may not have the definitions for, great job making learning interesting.
