I bought this book because I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s recent novel, GAME OF EDGES. PARADISE is a novella that reads like a fairytale – it reminded me of the Princess Bride. The fast-paced plot drew me in from the first page. This book has everything I look for in a story– suspense, humor, plot twists, great characters, and a satisfying ending. The novella is based upon the author’s musical KINGDOM which I would love to see someday. After reading the book I went to Kent Allen’s website to listen to the songs and then I re-read the chapters where the songs fit in. It really made the story come alive! I would recommend listening to the songs as you read the book. When I went to the website, it didn't show the chapters the songs apply to so I’ve included them here to make it easier to locate where they fit into the story: Chapter 2 – Dancing With You, Chapter 3 – Paradise, Chapter 13 – Valeria’s Triumph and the end of Chapter 13 – One More Day.

Paradise is a dramatic little romp of a story. Short, sweet, and with brightly drawn characters, it's easy to read in one sitting when you need something fun and fluffy. Death, as it turns out, isn't the end, especially for our main characters Noble and Angeline.

Paradise comes across as tropey and overly dramatic at times, but that's part of the fun of a book like this: throwing all caution and reason to the wind and just letting the characters go where they will. Although it might not be for everyone, if you happen to see this book at your local library or used book store, don't hesitate to pick it up and give it a whirl. You just might be surprised at how fast the time flies while reading it.
