Crimson Hollow #1

Romancing the Fox

Rate this book
No matter how far up the rungs of corporate success Sinopa Locklear climbs, her family will never be satisfied. To them, she’s worthless because she refused to live out her destiny among the tribe and produce cubs. Her decision left an impassable bridge between her and those she loved.

When an offer to wipe the slate clean comes up, Garret Fox can’t pass up the chance. All he has to do is spend a week with Sinopa, and pretend to be her fiancé. Seven days and they could go their separate ways. How hard could it be?

Both are running from something, afraid of getting too close and too intimate—until they are forced to behave as a couple for her family. Who’d have thought a fox would chase after a wolf of her own? Or is she his prey?

This book might be short but I am in total swoon with Mr. Garret.

So the run down, Sinopa is a fox shifter, Garret is a wolf shifter and Jase is a bear shifter.

Sinopa’s tribe was killed and Jase’s tribe took her in. She became part of his family she calls him brother. He wants/needs her to come home to a place she left because she felt like an outsider. She lives in the human world and to get her to come home he calls in one of his favors.

Garret wants to be out of debt to Jase so he agrees to go get Sinopa to come home. As his “fake fiancé”. Only it’s become so much more.

Not only is Jase glad to have Sin home, but he is about to become leader and wants Sin to be his deputy. Another tribe was killed like her family and Jase wants to get to the bottom of it.

I really enjoyed this mix of shifters, and the comradery. It’s not uncommon for shifters to mix and be mates to different species. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion and I am allowed to have it.*

I liked the trope in this novella ( shifters romance , werefox h and werewolf H) and the romance build up felt okay but the writing was a cheeseball and I did not care for the plot and I wanted more smut because it gives you the vibe that it is going to be but sadly it was not as smutty as it needed to be

This is a sweet quick mixed shifter read. One difference from other shifter books I have read is no actual shifting takes place. They talk about their animals but nobody shifted. It is apart of a serial so I will probly check the others out. I did read another longer book by Marissa Dobson ( Tiger Time) and loved it.

I really enjoyed how this writer got me engrossed into this story quickly. Being a short story the two main characters came to life beautifully and took me on a journey to solve the tragic past that is invading the present. Although there was no cliffhanger, I could see many opportunities to continue the story of their clan.a great quick PNR fix. Book read via KU.

Even Though!

Even though there's no sex scenes per se but, the indication of them having sex this book was very good.

Sinopa was once part of a mixed tribe of shifters after her own tribe was massacred leaving only her & her cousin alive; but when she was old enough & because she had been made to still feel like an outsider she left the mixed tribe to live in the human world to make a life for herself.

She hasn't been back since she left but, was going back now because her brother requested it via a friend that he sent to her to act as her mate.

Garret was alone wolf as he didn't agree with the wolf pack mentality. He had met Jase, Sinopa's brother while try to save his sister from a evil bear who was keeping her hostage. Jase asked Garret as a way to pay his debt to him to pretend that he was his sister's mate & Garret agrees.

When Sinopa opens her door to find Garret there they both found much more than each other.

Quick but good read

A quick but enjoyable read of a two different shifters. She is a fox shifter, he is a wolf. Liked how the author comprised the shifter community in this book. The book is a standalone but I know I am interested in reading more of this community. A quick read with all the parts needed to feel that the story was covered.

Short and sweet... just like a Fox.

Sin's story has so much dimension, and even though this author gives you all the important details she does it quick. This is a fast read that will have you turning the pages. I have to say I'm definitely looking forward to more in this series!
Happy reading : )

Romancing the Fox

They clashed too quickly for them not to be mates. Jase is an ass and I hope he finds his mate soon. I hope Sin and Swift become friends again soon. Garrett and Sin are perfect together.

This book was a really enjoyable read. It was quick, but sweet and interesting. There was romance with a hint of danger. Over the course of the book, it was clear to see the trauma Sin had been through and how it had impacted her life. I also really enjoyed the fox aspect and what being one meant to not only Sin, but her adoptive family as well. I only wish the story hadn't ended when it had. I would love to know what happens with Zoe and Swift and this security expert. I can only hope these curiosities will be satisfied in future books! This book is HEA with no cliffhanger. I look forward to reading Loving the Bears: A Crimson Hollow Novella!

I only have one complaint, I wanted to know more about what was happening after Sin and Garrett found one another. Great shifter story that had my attention all the way.

Nice short story

This was the first book that I can remember reading by this author and I was impressed that there's so much story packed into this short novella. I really enjoyed reading about these characters and am definitely going to read more from this author.

Different kind of shifter tale.

The story was intriguing, mixed shifters in village. As they tried to get along with each , finding ways to grow and thrive. Sin and Garrett find their love and hold on tight. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves shifters.

This one was okay. It is a novella to introduce you into the Crimson Hollow world. I know with shifter romances there is usually insta-love when they find their mate, but this one was way too instant for me. Usually they find each other and then get to know each other but this one didn't even have that. Its was all too much for two people that had just met in my opinion. The guy goes to Crimson Hollow with the girl and it was all a lot to take in for the guy, but he did not care at all. I would have liked more conversation between the two instead of just accepting everything that was happening.

Sin is a fox shifter who was left alive after an attack on her tribe. Taken in by another tribe, she never really felt like she belonged and escaped to live among the humans. But when she's asked to return, her whole world is turned upside down.

What a wonderful introduction to the Crimson Hollow series. Ms. Dobson's story tugs at the heart with characters who are hurt and wounded but still remain strong. This quick read was perfect for one sitting and left me wanting to read more!

Pros: I liked it. This was a fun PNR read with an interesting mix of shifters. It was paced well.

Cons: Just a couple of times, the dialogue felt stilted, most notably between the heroine and her brother.

This was a wonderful book. I wish there was more action itself instead of just a storyline. By it was very nice love story.

Interesting novella where the shifting part is minimal and to some extent not central to the story.
