The action in this book is not as exciting as the action in A Shade of Vampire Series, but it was entertaining and kept me reading to see what would happen to the Fire Dragons, Theon's people. I still found Nell's relationship with him so blase. Michelle (Nell's former best friend) is a more interesting character than Nell, and that is not saying much.

Magnificent! Bella Forrest has once again stunned her fans with A Shade of Dragon, her second mesmerizing trilogy spin-off of her bestselling series, A Shade of Vampire. After reading the first book in Forrest's A Shade of Vampire series several years ago, I joined millions of fellow readers worldwide and became a diehard fan and official Shaddict who now eagerly await each new release. This release is the eagerly anticipated second book in Forrest's A Shade of Dragon trilogy and she totally nailed it - again! The dragons of the Hearthlands were first introduced in Rose and Caleb's story, A Shade of Vampire 13: A Turn of Tides and became popular recurring secondary characters in the series. As a result of the mass popularity of the dragons, Ms Forrest paid homage to her readers by giving us A Shade of Dragon, proving once more that she always listens to her fans. The story is exceptionally well crafted and well written in the first person with multiple points of view. I was immediately drawn into the story and by the end of the first two chapters, I was totally smitten which was largely due, in part, to the intriguing, captivating and well developed cast of supernatural and human characters. I fell in love with the two protagonists from different realms, young fire dragon Theon Aena, Prince of the Hearthlands, and Penelope "Nell" O'Hara, nineteen year old human college student. Each started the adventure as young, inexperienced and somewhat naive in the ways of the world but quickly matured to become strong, intelligent adults in the face of adversity and tragedy, all the while becoming a courageous and wise hero and heroine worthy of the title King and Queen. Even the villains of the story were engaging, warranting quite a bit of dislike from the reader. Yes, I'm guilty of shaking my fists and totally hating the bad guys of this story. But isn't that the indication of a great book? We become so involved in the story, get so caught up in the lives of the characters that we rail against any injustice, all the while cursing the villains. Isn't that the true definition of entertainment? At least it is for me and I was most assuredly entertained. If you love young adult fantasy filled to the brim with supernatural creatures, mystifying magic, spine-tingling adventure, heart-stopping danger, heartbreaking angst and heartwarming romance, then you will surely love this story. Follow Prince Theon Aena and Nell O'Hara as they search for love and happiness only to discover that sometimes, one's destiny is not written in the stars and more importantly, fate is only what we make it. What did I like about this book and this series? Everything! What didn't I like? Not a darn thing! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am! Will I read this author again? You better believe it, just as soon as she releases her next book! This book does NOT contain graphic language or explicit sex. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Never Fair!

Theon and Nell come from different worlds,but find themselves falling in love with one another. After Theon shows Nell his true form,she seems to love him all the more. But after returning to his home land and finding that the ice dragons have taken over the kingdom nothing goes right and all that was once beautiful is all gone.

Theon can't seem to win no matter what. Seems it's time for the ice dragons to rule the kingdom. And to make matters worse, the human , Michelle, ex friend of Nell takes sides with the Ice dragon. Will anything good come of all this. Read on in book 3 to find out

In this part of the story Nell has been kidnapped by Lethe who thinks he's fallen in love with her and she let's him think that she cares so she'll stay out of the dungeon. She does begin to care for him which confuses her. Meanwhile Theon is stuck with Michelle who is constantly trying to seduce him. Sheepshead what drama, and all of this is happening because the gods want them apart. There is a deeper question which I really like in this story. Should they bow to the wills of the gods and fate or should they mare their own path. It makes this a much richer read.

I lost sleep. (Beware spoilers)

I lost sleep reading the second book in this dreadful romantic tale. This second installment is filled with love, war, and a cruel destiny. I love the vows between Nell and Theon so eloquently worded and I hate how the stars are against their love. I also wish I didn't have to wait for the third book. This is a great book and I recommend reading the entire series.

Too short for my taste. It could have developed more strongly. Storyline was very strong but because of poor execution it fell short of becoming my fav. I regard myself as easily pleased with good story and this one disappointed me left me with great dissatisfaction and thinking about all the wasted points that could have contributed a lot to smoother execution. The story seem more like FILL in the BLANKS.

But still for what it could have been 3.5 stars

I loved Nell in the first book but in this second one not so much. I always hated Michelle so I just hate her more and Theon is weak in my opinion; honestly I started liking Lethe more. This "love triangle" is really weird. I read the entire A Shade of Vampire series before starting this trilogy so I know how it ultimately ends but not really what happens so I'm curious to see how it plays out.

3.5 stars - Couldn't put it down, but...

Couldn't put it down, but I'm not liking where this is heading! Great read full of angst, seduction, heartbreak, betrayal and plot twists. I'm really hoping this isn't another one of those damned series where I'm totally disappointed at the end...only book 3 and time will tell.

OMG Bella Forrest I think you just killed me with this one!!! Seriously? I can't even express what I am feeling with that ending other than Michelle HAS to go and that Oracle as well!!!! You've done it again. Like an addict waiting on their next hit, I am dying for the next book!!!!

All I can say is Bella Forrest knows how to pull, twist and rattle heart strings!!! By the end of this book I was ready to toss my phone lol. Wow! Can't wait for the next Dragon installment all though it will be read with Bittersweet love, knowing it is the last Dragon book!! Thank goodness I still have the Shade to look forward to and anything else she writes!!

I love the way Bella Forrest writes. I've read all the shade of a vampire books up to date as well as Beautiful Monster. A shade of a Dragon is no different. You think you know what's about to happen but then the complete opposite happens. She always leaves you with a cliff hanger, which makes me not want to finish but between love betrayal and action shade of a Dragon is a great series. Absolutely would recommend this book to anyone that loves the supernatural and romance as well as action and suspense

This is a little harder to like because of all of the back-and-forth between the good guys and bad guys, and all of the deception. It was hard to feel sorry for Michelle because she's awful and I thought that Theon was weak to believe what she was giving him. I think that Nell did what she had to do, but I'm not sure if it was the right decision at the right time… Granted it kept her alive and out of the dungeon. I'm glad that eventually they figured out what they needed to know. I'm hoping that it was all just a test.

OMG!! As if I am impatient enough now I'm going to be more impatient for the last book....please please don't let it end the way I'm thinking.....I can't believe Theon did that but I did expect Michelle to do what she did and I don't like the Oracle just sayin.....ughhhh seriously can't wait for the last book....yup said it again and I wish it wasn't the last but then I would have to keep waiting hahaha.....great job as always Bella :)

I am completely addicted to these books. I wish they would just keep going because I think I could read about the Shade and all of the characters for the rest of my life and be content!

This is an amazing series and the characters and the writing are perfect! There is never a dull moment! Once you start reading you just can't put it down and you yearn for more!

Omg Omg what the hell just happened. You can't leave the cliff habger like that and then expect me to wait. Im dying for more. Theon and Nell's story get crazy and insane. The thrills and twists have you hooked so bad you want more. This is a must read.
