These were nice little stories but the quality of the translation was so poor that it was at times difficult to understand. I'm not sure how a child could be expected to read it.

A comprehensive collection

I love fairy tales. I eat them for breakfast. While I appreciate this collection, the writing is painful to wade through at times. A thorough line and copy edit would serve this volume well. As a $12 e-book, it’s grossly overpriced for the quality.

This book is absolutely wonderful. The latest edition is truly impressive and clearly the result of careful and professional editing — I did not notice a single typo or error.
The collection itself is rich, engaging, and beautifully presented. This edition includes more than 60 stunning illustrations created by very talented artists, which make the stories come alive and turn the book into a real treasure for both children and adults.
It is a timeless collection of Polish fairy tales that preserves cultural heritage while remaining accessible and enjoyable for modern readers. Unfortunately, like many long-standing and successful books, it sometimes receives unfair or superficial criticism online. In my experience, this criticism does not reflect the actual quality of the book.
I highly recommend this edition to anyone interested in folklore, fairy tales, or beautifully illustrated story collections.

This is an amazing collection of Polish folk fairy tales:
1)Every tale is engaging and captivating, carrying the wisdom and experience of past generations.
2)Each story is accompanied by a unique illustration that immediately catches a child’s eye. Every illustration draws the reader into the tale (my son even colored some of these illustrations himself).
3)The English translation is excellent and accurately conveys the rhythm and storytelling flow of a traditional Polish folk narrator.
4)These are unique fairy tales that can be found only in this book and nowhere else.

Magnificent book with stunning illustrations.
Unfortunately, its rating is being artificially lowered by unfair and biased reviews — reviews written by competitors and by those unfriendly to Polish culture. Overall, the book is perfect, and these fairy tales cannot be found anywhere except within its pages.
The English translation is flawlessly marvelous, preserving both the Polish spirit and the uniquely Polish way of expressing thoughts.
