Christmas at the Rekindle Inn

Rate this book
Mary Walker has a habit of giving in when it comes to her mother, but this time her mom went too far. At first glance, the gift seems innocent. Seven days at a lovely Vermont inn in mid-December is Mary’s idea of the perfect Christmas present—that is until she discovers her traveling companion’s identity. The Rekindle Inn is the last place J.T. Walker wants to spend his Christmas vacation, much less in the company with the woman who’d recently ripped his heart to shreds. A challenge of wills, and the need to show Mary he no longer cares, has him on the plane to Santaville faster than the time it takes to unwrap a candy cane. The Rekindle Inn specializes in mending relationships, but when the Walkers check in, it will take more than a little Christmas magic to bring these two broken hearts back together. More like a Christmas miracle.

This book had one of my most disliked tropes - the couple having problems due to lack of communication. Grr...I hate that. Yet, the magic of the setting drew me in and made me set aside other books to read this one! The Inn and its surroundings were so well described, and made me want to visit (or live) there! The book was full of Christmas spirit and was a really fun holiday read!

Christmas at the Rekindle Inn by Lori Waters is a wonderful Christmas novella. Filled with the Christmas spirit and wonderful characters, it is truly one of the best seasonal books I’ve read so far. Mary Walker and Joseph Tanner Walker are just weeks away from finalizing their divorce. A surprising Christmas gift from both their mothers, a trip to the Rekindle Inn in Jollyville Vermont forces them to confront their problems in a quirky little town filled with the most remarkable and funny characters. This is the story of second chances, pride and stubbornness. Both Mary and JT carry with them baggage and misunderstandings that they need to work through, but the Rekindle Inn is just the place to do it with the help of some residents of Jollyville Vermont.

This was a totally enjoyable book filled with humor, insight, forgiveness, and love. The storyline was as believable as any holiday book and the characters were all well developed even if a little whimsical. Hurry out and get this one and read it during the holidays for a warm and fuzzy holiday experience.

I received this ARC from NetGalley and Wild Rose Press with no obligation to review it. This is my honest review after reading.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest/unbiased opinion.

This one was an appetizer. Short and sweet like. I found the town a bit over the top but I think it was meant to be this way. The story was predictable and transparent. Again, I suspect it was meant to be this way.

It was cute how they were both too stubborn and proud to tell their parents they didn’t want to go on the vacation. Which really masked the fact they were clearly still in love with each other. The beginning was a bit slow but it picked up towards the middle.

I felt the sex scenes fell a bit flat and the chemistry wasn’t as strong as I’m used to. The fact that they weren’t ‘allowed’ to talk about their past may have rubbed me the wrong way. How can you deal with it if you don’t confront it? But I was able to suspend my belief and ended up enjoying the book as a whole.

I have never been very good at the whole wintery/christmas themes books but they are starting to grow on me.

Lovely magical christmas read. I just adored this book its what christmas is about.

A couple weeks from finalising their divorce are given a christmas gift from both there mothers. A trip to Rekindle Inn. None of them wanting to tell there mums no, so off they go to to there magical trip to Jollyville. Its not like normal inn's. Will the magic of the inn work on this couple? You will have to read for yourself.

Highly recommend this book. It would make a lovely christmas movie.

Great Christmas Love Story for Second Chances!

I loved this story. Mary is as stubborn if not more than, her soon to be ex-husband J.T. They don’t communicate with each other and that is a lot of their problem. They both won’t give an inch and find themselves at the Rekindle Inn and Mary is in heaven. She loves Christmas and all the decorations and the little town that is there. They are both on a strict schedule and have to stick to it. They both agree because they do some of the things separate.

They both start to relax and enjoy each other’s company again. If anything JT and Mary would like to remain friends. They have a few weeks before the divorce is final and they both think this week will be a waste of time but decide to enjoy it.

JT has noticed that Mary’s eyes don’t have the sparkle like they used too. He wanted to see her happy again. When they go snowmobiling and Mary gets hurt, JT takes care of her and realizes that he could lose her forever not just as his wife. He is going to do whatever he can to get her back. Things are going great and they make love. Mary tells JT she hasn’t been with anyone since him.

When the end of their stay comes, David arrives to pick up Mary. When she gets JT’s phone by accident there is a message from a girl that Mary has thought JT was having an affair with all along. She leaves with David but breaks up with him because she has already given her heart to JT and no one else will be able to have it. David is so full of himself he says she will regret this decision and anyone will be happy to have him. She wishes him well and then decides to have a talk to her mother. She has let her mother tell her what to do for so long she decides to stand up to her.

JT does the same to his dad and finds out that his dad has always been proud of him. That isn’t how it seemed to JT and he tells his dad he is going to do everything he can to get Mary back. Read this story to see if JT and Mary get their Christmas miracle and rekindle the love they had for each other.

I highly recommend this story.

Enjoyed this Christmas Story and the mystic town secluded in mountains somewhere in Vermont rat Rekindle Inn. ! ... It was great bringing together a soon to be divorced couple and trying to bring spark and reconciliation in their relationship. Communication was at a big impasse !
The ongoing communication problem between the couple was somewhat aggravating because I wanted them to resolve it . ... seemed they would be like spinning tires on recurring icy road patches on a main highway. Despite the couple's very soon scheduled divorce sign off, and Mary having a serious boyfriend, their mothers gifted J.T and Mary a Christmas getaway holiday to the Rekindle Inn in Vermont ... with hopes of them rekindling the sparkle in their relationship. This storyline nutured a suspenseful vein throughout giving serious challenge to hope.
I loved the setting of the magical snowy romantic Christmas location and the activities organized by the owners of the Rekindle Inn. I have to say I craved holiday baked goods ... including gingerbread, Christmas cookies and hot cocoa. ..... taking winter wonderland freshair walks with crunching snow underfoot. ... Sigh. .... I would enjoy this book as a Christmas movie ... as their was suspense, sadness, humour, kindred spirit and the hope of love during the Christmas season.

I have given this very enjoyable story with the capturing magical power of Christmas love. 4.5 Stars.

OMG, FABULOUS READ!!!!
A freaking fantastic emotional tear jerking story of re-found love. A story telling Mary and Joseph (JT) to remember why and how they fell in love in the first place.
My favorite type of romance is one that can draw out the reader’s emotions. This book Christmas at Rekindle Inn by Lori Waters is certainly one of those. To top that off, it is a Christmas story, one that will make the reader think about all the miracles around them.
I really need to thank NetGalley and Wild Rose Press for gifting me with the approval to read this spectacular book. It took me on a wonderful emotional ride, and I loved every moment of it, tears and all.
I also need to thank NetGalley and Wild Rose Press for introducing me to Lori Waters and her phenomenal writing. I have definitely found a new author to follow.

A whimsical, magical tale, just in time for Christmas! This is a heartwarming book about second chances and forgiveness with a bit of Christmas magic.

I loved every minute of this book. The characters were all too human, filled with pride and stubbornness. It highlighted how often people form perceptions based on experiences from the past and then stubborn pride keeps them from talking about problems. It showed just how easily misunderstandings can occur.

This book is perfect for those cosy days curled up in front of a fire with a cup of hot chocolate. It makes you believe in happy endings again.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this heartwarming book.

I love the descriptions of the setting of this book. It made me what to jump in the pages and set up camp.

I love the Christmassy feel of the cover of the book and that is what made me want to read it.

Sadly I grew tired and bored while reading this book as I wanted to lock the two main characters into a room until they had learnt some communication skills.

I found this book in places but hard to read and I didn't feel any connection with the characters.

I do thank NetGalley publishers and Lori Waters for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review it just wasn't for me sorry

Happy reading everyone

This was a cute Christmas story about a couple on the brink of divorce. Their mothers booked them a trip to an Inn to see if they can rekindle their romance. With a little help from Mr. & Mrs. Klaus & friends, can they find their way back to each other.

The story was somewhat predictable. But I did relate to some of Mary's issues. I'm similar in some senses, so it hit home with me. But it was a cute read for the holidays.

4 Stars! This was just adorable. The little Christmas Tinsel Town was fantastic, with touches of holiday magic around every corner. The emotions the hero and heroine experienced felt real and nothing was going to be fixed easily over a cup of spiked eggnog. Despite the fantastic setting the issues were concrete and dealt with realistically. There was a little bit of "misunderstanding" toward the end, but this story held my attention all the way through. I'll look for more from this author!
