The ocean is gone and Earth is a nightmare of sandstorms, death, and dust. Now, a twelve-year old girl and a broken hero from her father's bedtime stories are on a desperate voyage to redeem the terrible failure of The Astonishing Aquanauts and bring back the ocean.
Steve Welch grew up in Daytona Beach, and currently lives in Winter Garden, Florida. He’s been a theme park entertainment director, radio morning show host, author, convenience store clerk on the midnight shift, and line cook at a beachside seafood joint. Welch has also had the good fortune to travel the world performing waterski shows with a roving band of aquatic warriors and renegade cultural emissaries known as The Stars of Florida. Those experiences informed his new satirical novel, "FloridaWorld."
One of the most amazing books I've ever read! Elise and the Astonishing Aquanauts is by far a thrill a minute ride until the very end. Excellent first book Mr. Welch, looking forward to many more books
from you. The plot was well established, characters likeable and the conclusion good. Although I wanted the story to go on ...
Elise and the Astonishing Aquanauts is an exciting adventure in a unique, dystopian world where the Earth's oceans have all vanished. The author creates a vivid, interesting story with a likable heroine, remarkable creatures, and a team of heroes who set out to save the world.
The first Elise book, and Mr. Welch’s first novel. It does not read like a first novel. Welch has the gift of transporting his readers into a new world, one with strange new creatures and frightening scenarios. Through this, there is a spark of hope woven in, and I found myself amazed as I journeyed through Paris after the apocalypse. I highly recommend this book.
