This is the Barnes & Noble Edition of the earlier book published under the same title. It has a deep gray cover with Indian art in the background. It is clearly written so that a beginner in the subject can easily work with the ideas.
Title: Interesting how 'Chakra' is plural form of 'Chakrum' and western translations reject it.
What makes this book different from most is the attention given to the other, lesser known chakra, in particular, my interest in Alter Major. I'm pretty sure everyone has it, I have thoughts that it may need an awakening of some sort. The only Chakrum to spin alternatively, it is the area where I experience sensation when addressing anything from a Kinesiological standpoint.
Included are developmental age range per Chakrum, associated body & glandular area, senses, colors, stones, elements and essences or fragrances. While I would use Kinesiology for serious work in these areas, I don't see any harm in what is suggested as traditional or via folklore. Has bases in Yoga practices in India, some Latin references. Good beginner book on Mind Body Spirit connection. Helps explain why a body vibrates the manner it does once a person hits a point of esoteric awareness. I like the book a lot but don't see all of the information written in stone.
Originally published in 1993, Ruth White's book is a definitive work on the esoteric subject of chakras, subtle energy systems surrounding and interspersing with the physical body. White includes guidance on how to use color, meditation, and crystals to promote healing and balance in the chakra system. Eight major chakras include the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, alter major, brow, and the crown. Each is associated with a specific region of the body and a certain purpose. White provides case studies of how the need to heal and balance the energy in the chakra systems affects overall health and well-being; in addition, White mentions higher level chakra systems and describes how the planet as a living entity has its own chakra system. Although I enjoyed reading the book, I found it would have helped if this updated edition had color illustrations and even a CD accompaniment. Otherwise, a good edition to my library of esoteric and metaphysical readings which will come in handy for future reference.
I learned the basics about chakras in this easy-to-follow book for beginners. The practices, meditations, and real-life accounts of Ruth's past patients helps to put the new knowledge gained into practice!
Very dry. I could not relate to any of the patients stories, not even close. Some interesting information summarized at the begining of the book and every chapters, however , it’s very general.
This book is a great book for someone who already has a little knowledge of chakras, but wants to learn more. This book is very informative; there is a chapter devoted to each of the 7 major chakras. The information on each major chakra is very thorough. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting greater knowledge on their chakras.
This book is easy to use and pretty comprehensive. She gives examples of how the techniques work in real life and uses vivid imagery to communicate the intentions. I use it as a reference material as well as using the practical exercises.
