A collection of poems, musings and reminiscences from 1956-2003 by Richard L. Townley, who had a 32-year career in broadcast journalism, and was an anchor and producer of the Wall Street Journal Report in the 1970s and 1980s. Mr. Townley passed away in 2009 after a 15 year battle with Parkinson's disease, but left behind this collection of his poetry for his family and friends. This collection is now being published in his honor so that everyone can enjoy this journey inside the mind of a man who spent his journalistic career as both a pioneer and a thorn in the side of many, including the notorious New Orleans District Attorney, Jim Garrison, who filed criminal charges against the intrepid reporter as a result of his investigative work into the Kennedy assassination, which were ultimately dropped after a Supreme Court victory. During his career, Townley's coverage of the Civil Rights movement lead to bomb threats from the Klan, attacks by angry mobs, libel suits, and threats from the Mob. Please enjoy this collection of poetry that ranges from quirky to querulous, and irreverent to profound, in what Townley always referred to as his "secret vice." Enjoy.
