I just finished this read and I just want to say YESSSSSSS, Kaye Blue! I was so here for this story. I loooove Anton and Lily was okay too, I mean I guess, but I was really here for Anton. I have been intrigued by his character, from book two in this series and I am so happy that he got his own story. Anton is such a good character because his description just fits the bill for the exact type of man that is in the mob lifestyle. He is alpha, tall, muscled, brooding, intelligent, takes no nonsense or disrespect, knows how to keep his mouth shut and just overall handles his business. I always find it to be nice, when these type of men fall for a nice woman like Lily.
Now, speaking of Lily, I liked her overall, I know my previous statement makes me sound like I am hating on her, but I really wasn't, while I was reading. I liked the fact that Lily, by nature, really was a nice person (although she tried to convince herself and others that she wasn't), but she had layers to her and thoughts and feelings that contradicted her "nice girl" persona or at least the "nice girl" image and label that people placed upon her. It made her character and what she was going through more real because in life, people aren't often as they seem, at least not all of the time or in every circumstance, so I liked that aspect of her character.
Now, I really liked this story, but I do have a few pet peeves, I wish the story had more interaction/communication with the two main characters. I am not a huge fan of instalove stories because they are just unnatural and unrealistic to me, this story had elements of this, although it still worked for me as a read. I wish the characters were fleshed out a bit more or given more time to get to know one another better in a more organic way. Another issue I had, was the ending. Anton and Lily deserved a better ending, I mean for real! I am glad they are together or trying to make it work or whatever, but that ending was too abrupt for me, I was flipping the pages, like "that's it, no epilogue, or nothing?!!" My last issue with the story, is that I wanted more on Anton's background. I wanted to know more about his upbringing from childhood, who his mother is , where is she/ will he look for her, how he grew up with the clan, how he got into his line of work, what made him so methodical and patient and deadly, I want to know HIM! I am hoping, Ms. Blue gives us another spin-off book for Anton because I feel there is just so much more to him and his story.
Overall, good read, I enjoyed it and I will definitely be continuing the series.
