Fandom: Harry Potter Relationship: Sirius Black/Remus Lupin -------------------------------------------------- In an alternate universe where Sirius Black never went to Azkaban, Harry divides his life between the Dursleys' house and Mr. Black's bookshop -- until Sirius realises what the Dursleys are doing to him, and takes him away from their care.
i have made the decision to add fanfic to my goodreads shelves because dammit, this fic was really good and also over 99,000 words long and if reading this doesn't count as reading a book then what am i even doing this for
--
"i'm half of all we've done, remus." <- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
life would be so much easier if wolfstar canonically raised harry instead😞
this book was okay. i might’ve enjoyed this more if i didn’t get distracted throughout reading it and if i didn’t take a “longer“ break which made me not able to attach to the book emotionally. i found the plot to be all over the place and i just couldn’t stay focused on it at all.
— wolfstars development and relationship didn’t give me as much buzz as usual and i wish we got more one on one scenes of them…
— harry came off like a kindergarten child to me and not like an 8 year old boy…? i saw others talking about it aswell and i definitely agree that his behaviour or the way he spoke was not giving „i’m an 8 year old“.
— however i did enjoy the found family trope between wolfstar + harry🫶🏽 they all deserved some happiness after all that happened and im glad they had each other.
— something that’s more my personal preference, but i don’t like snape and i will never like snape and this being a pro-snape fic made it a bit harder for me to get into…? idk i knew he was gonna be redeemed in this book but i personally don’t like reading about him being some what as “hero”.
— LOVEDDDD andromedas character in this. she’s everything. my girlfriend. love her to death.
Had a hard time getting into it at first. Wasn’t a big fan of the major plot changes and wonder where it will lead in the rest of the series. Harry’s characterization is way too childish and infantile for an 8 year old child, he acts like a toddler most of the time. I was expecting Wolfstar to be more of a slow burn relationship and to happen later on in the series. I like Snape and Andromeda’s personalities in this fanfic.
I liked the alternate universe aspect of this fic and I liked that it started with Harry younger than Hogwarts age but i had trouble getting into it.
For one thing Harry is written way too young to be 8 years old. The constant infantilization of his behavior was infuriating. While I appreciate the behavior helped form the bond with Sirius I think it would have been better if the author had written him as a 4-5 year like his behavior actually suggests. Perhaps the author put him at 8 years old to move the series along quicker I’m not sure but I don’t think the author has spent much time with 8 year olds.
The WolfStar aspect of this book felt a little rushed and thrown in there last minute for me. It was like it was an afterthought after the author made all three MCs move into Moonys house. I didn’t feel like there was a lot of relationship building or even sexual tension it just kind of happened and then would vanish.
I do love the Snape storyline in this one. I think if Snape had been able to be involved in Harry’s life a lot younger in the original series we may have been able to believe his redemption arc a bit better.
Overall I did enjoy this fic. It’s not the best I’ve ever read but I am hopeful the rest of series will build up storylines a little better. Interested to see where this one goes regardless!
Po wspaniałym "That’s the Art of Getting By" miałam ochotę na fanfika z wątkiem wychowywania Harry'ego przez Syriusza i Remusa, ale "Stealing Harry" to była jakaś pomyłka. Rozumiem zamysł równoległych wszechświatów i zmodyfikowania oryginalnej historii.
MY ASS • Remus jest dalekim kuzynem Jamesa???
When a fanfic was written in 2004, you KNOW it’s gonna be good. While the publishing date came with the unpolished world building the newer ones have, I honestly really liked that. This isnt Wolfstar in the wake of ATYD (which is a VERY different timeline transition), it’s just fanfic for the love of the game. This honestly might have been the first Wolfstar fanfic. It was sweet, creative, and had a lot of good tension. I wish we got more time with Sirius and Remus, but again, I’m reading this with my own views as someone who likes modern HP fanfic and knows all the details. The books weren’t even all published at this point! I think the author did a great job with what they had in constructing a plot with a billion loose ends.
I was looking for something happy and sweet because life has been absolutely terrible recently and this was definitely sweet. I liked how wolfstar + Harry basically became a family of their own and how caring they were for Harry. That being said, ~460 pages of just that was a little bit boring. I didn’t particularly feel invested in the Wolfstar developing relationship because it definitely felt like an afterthought and Sirius just casually and incidentally, falling in love after Remus has been pining for nearly a decade was bizarre timing. I did loooove Snape and Harry’s relationship though—so cute!
The fact that it is an AU-canon divergence that exists and acknowledges that it’s AU in the story.... holy. I think this might be my favorite Wolfstar fic. I love the characterization we get of adult Sirius and Remus and the growth and development of Harry. I love that Sirius actively pushes against Dumbledore, even when the man tries to guilt them into stealing Harry. I love this fic so much, I wish it were canon. But guess what??? It can be canon if it’s AU and acknowledges itself!!!

Loved the book even though I do not ship wolfstar!(I ship Remadora). Set in an alternate universe where Sirius does not go to Azkaban and instead run a bookshop ,this book explore the possibilities of events that would have happened if Sirius and Remus took Harry away from the Dursleys.A nice book to read after you have finished the entire series.
This was cute and quick. I was def missing the boys with all the Dramione I had been reading so this was perfect. Beyond some minor prose polishing, you'd never know this was written in 2004 during the wild wild west of Harry Potter fic since the series wasn't done yet. I'll probably read the rest of this series too.
Loved how some original universe stuff was kept but so much of the story line was changed. Love WolfStar and this Snape. Can’t wait to read the next book.
This is the moment I’m going to shamelessly include fanfics in my reading list. This was so wholesome… pure nostalgia. Got my Harry Potter itch scratched without supporting Transphobic You Know Who.
