Book 4 of the Diary of the Displaced series

Connor Halldon believed what he had been told as a child.

His mother had died in combat on a distant world.

Until he finds an old message that had been left for him on the same day that she had fallen in combat.

Now he doesn't know what to believe.

Has his whole life since that day been based on lies?

Was his mother even dead?

Now, the Resistance soldiers are hunting him down, and he doesn't even know why.

All he can do is follow the trail left for him.

All he can do is follow his mother's footprints, and Connor thinks he knows where they will lead...

I really like this series and enjoyed this book. At first I wasn't sure I liked the dictated journal on a voice recorder format as much as the written journal format of the previous books. But, it grew on me. And, I'm very glad Connor and Ilya ran into each other and are now traveling together. She will give him someone to talk to, just like James always had DogThing or Rudy or Adler to talk with. Connor clearly thinks Ilya is hot so who knows, maybe we will see some action between a human and, well, whatever she is!

This book at the start had me torn in two. On one hand, I was put off it ( I don't want to say why as it would spoil the story). But on the other hand, I really also wanted to carry on following the story, so I stuck with it and I really wasn't disappointed in the end. I just felt it wasn't as good as the first three. However, it was still a great page turning read!

Very exciting

Excellent story. There is a lot of action, mysteries, and adventure in this story. The main character is very interesting and so is his ghost. I need the rest of this series.

Breadcrumbs

Difficult for me to understand many of the difficulties of issues main character has to overcome. Simple follow the breadcrumbs story.

Another generation discovering James' world...Connor, his great grandson.

The fast-paced, easy style and great 'voice', make this a compelling read. Rather than the written diary, it's now a recorded account of this next journey following the footsteps of past generations, and it's a fascinating tale; one of intrigue, mystery and suspense.

Highly recommended...looking forward to book five; hope it's soon.
