I stood by my brothers in the Marines and fought for my country. I gave my blood, sweat and flesh so that others could have a taste of freedom.
But my wife wasn’t free.
She’d been hunted, stalked, and forced by a murderer to keep a secret no one should have to live with. I’d made her a promise. Her freedom, my rules, no questions asked. I thought I’d kept my promise but I made a mistake—an inexcusable mistake.
I was done playing games with the killer who murdered my wife’s parents and tracked her for sport. If he thought he was safe in a jail cell, he was wrong. No one puts out a hit on my wife and survives.
This ends now. I will protect what’s mine…at whatever cost.
*Impossible End is the conclusion to the Unchecked Series. This novella is from Blaze’s point of view and is not a standalone. To get Blaze and Layna’s full story, please read Impossible Promise and Impossible Choice.
Sybil Bartel is a USA Today Bestselling author of unapologetic Alpha heroes. Whether you're reading her dominant Alpha Elite mercenaries, her protective Alpha Bodyguards, or her page-turning romantic suspense, all of her heroes are sexy-as-sin and unwaveringly Alpha!
Sybil lives in South Florida, and she is forever Oliver's mom.
Impossible End was such a fantastic novella. It was so incredibly good to be back with these characters again! Impossible End picks up right where the last book left off. We are with Blaze and Layna on their honeymoon. You could really feel the love between these two and I was so happy to see them have some happiness in their lives. However, you had to know that all the goodness was too good to be true. See, an old enemy has plans of his own. Even though he may be out of sight, that doesn’t mean he can’t cause damage. The stakes are high and Blaze will protect Layna, no matter what the cost….
I’m going to keep this review short and sweet since it is a novella. I don’t want to spoil the story for you. So, here’s what I will say: Impossible End is exciting and captivating. It will pull you in with it’s sexy and action-packed story-line. It will feel as though no time has passed from this book to the previous one. It will be so easy to get lost in Blaze and Layna. Even though Impossible End is a short novella, I will tell you, it really packs a punch. There is not a single dull moment and I enjoyed every second of it. Talon’s story is up next and I don’t know about you guys, but I can not wait to see where his story is going to take us!!
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
Talk about an intense and perfect ending for these two! I love Blaze and Layna so much! Their story has been full of fierce moments and danger, coupled with passion and a sense of belonging. This novella, told in Blaze's POV, was the perfect way to tie the story up in a finishing bow. Sure there are a few things that I am hoping to see in the future through the spin-off series, but this story finally puts the danger to rest in a spectacular way and solidifies everything these two have been fighting for. This novella is sexy, sweet, and dangerous. We see how Blaze ticks and his skills become vital to what is happening in this short story. I loved seeing him in his element and understanding his thought processes. His love for Layna takes on a new deep level that was never doubted, but seeing it spelled out in this way was beautiful. I was surprised that this short story ended so quickly and I could have read a whole other book about these two! Sybil Bartel is a fantastic author and this novella is once again a testament to that fact.
Five stars. Not six, but close enough. This review includes all three books in the series.
This is the story of Layna and Buck (Blaze).
Trigger: their story hints at a love triangle and ends up being really close to breaching that fine line of betrayal. Only comfort is that the love between Layna and Buck are a once in a life time thing, and you can’t say the same about Layna and Talon. Still she clearly loves Talon too, and I’m glad the triangle only occurred in the first book.
I liked them, and I liked her but I absolutely loved him. He was sweet and loyal, strong and alpha. I really loved that the last book was told from his point of view.
She was sweet and kind, and had been through hell. But it showed that she was younger than him and that she had less life experience because she was often confused and made some bad choices.
This book really didn't have much of a purpose aside from garnering more money for the author. There was no arc, the drama came and went quickly, and then the characters were ushered away while the problem was neatly resolved outside of the readers view. Then we just got to read about Blaze and Layna screwing, flirting, and having inane conversations. Honestly, it was a waste of time and money.
4 stars. The final installment of Blaze and Layna's tumultous relationship. Finally settled and starting their lives together their past once again raises its ugly head and threatens them. A short read to conclude this series and another good read. Looking forward to the Uncompromising series focusing on characters we have met in these three books. Recommended read.
With Bartel, impossible is never an option. She writes meaningful love stories that make you contemplate the meaning of relationships and commitment. In this, the third in the Unchecked series, we find Layna and Buck living their best lives and planning for an even happier future. A beautiful trilogy I won't soon forget.
I love this book it is the perfect ending to their story. You could see Layna getting stronger in every book even though she still had moments of weakness, and Blaze became more humanized as to books went on not just the Marine. I recommend this series so good.
Disclosure: I received a copy from the author/publisher, in exchange for an honest review. This does not influence my review in any shape or form.
I've been hooked on the Unchecked Series since I was first approved to read Impossible Promise. The premise of the story is intriguing and leaves you on the edge of your seat. The first two books are told in Layna's point of view and Impossible End is told in Blaze's point of view. You do need to read the first two books in the series in order to read Impossible End.
I personally loved Blaze's point of view, I would love to read the whole series through his eyes. Impossible End picks up right where Impossible Choice leaves off which starts off with a bang. You can help but turn the page to see what is going to happen to everyone. It's short but it's action back and ends sweetly. It leaves you wanting more, needing more of Blaze and Layna's story.
The only complaints I had was I wanted more of Blaze. I want to see the whole series through his eyes. I also wanted more of Talon. I really missed him in this novella. However, it was a nice and sweet ending to a suspenseful series.
This was likely my favorite of the three books, and I absolutely loved that it was in Blaze's voice.
Layna is an extremely emotional person, and at times it could be border-line annoying while reading in her voice. While Blaze does make mention of Layna's emotions and her ability to crack, reading in his eyes was refreshing.
This last part in the story of Layna and Blaze has them on their honeymoon -- but nothing is ever that simple when it comes to these two. I enjoyed the action-suspense that Ms. Bartel put in this small chunk of story -- almost more that the suspense sequence in the first book when Layna was being chased. This story takes place over hours rather than days, but the emotion and care that Blaze has for his now-wife is palpable. I thoroughly enjoyed the emotion on Blaze's side of the story.
I'm sad to see these two go, but I imagine that there is more coming in their future. The next stories that spin off of this involve Talon and crew, so I'm hopeful for Blaze/Layna sightings.
Impossible end is the third and final book in the Unchecked series I was gifted a copy of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
I’m not a fan of novellas, I’m fairly vocal about it lol but impossible end is less novella and more extended epilogue.
There’s a dash of everything in this super short instalment. There’s danger, action, sex and let’s not forget Blaze!!!
The man is a walking wet dream and I’m so in love with his bossy alpha ways that even a quick little nugget like Impossible End has me hot and bothered and DESPERATELY seeking the next book for this alphatastic group of characters.
I have to say that even with the lovely shiny happy ending it doesn’t feel like the end for this couple and I’m desperately hoping that they pop up in the books for Talon and Neil.
I loved this series and this was a lovely little Christmas pressie of Blazeness!
Sybil Bartel is fast becoming one of my favourite authors and I can’t wait to read more by her.
- Main Couple: Layna/Blaze (aka Buck) - POVs Included: Single Male POV (Blaze)
A short novella that wraps up Layna and Blaze's story. They are on their honeymoon, but things aren't quite HEA yet. There's still some loose ends with old enemies that need tying up.
I liked this one. I liked that it's from Blaze's POV. I like that there's no longer a love triangle and they are together for the novella and in love. It also has some good suspense and action as well.
Overall a great conclusion to the series. Not my favorite series as a whole, but I'm happy to see them get their HEA.

I think we all wanted this story to go on forever. Blaze and Layna are the staple couple for the little universe of these books (Alpha Escorts, Uncompromising, etc.) The first connection between the series that I noticed started here. A character from the first book I read by Sybil appeared in Layna and Blaze's first book. I knew then, what I know now. Sybil is an author of the ages, she will never disappoint and she will never be forgotten. You could even say it'd be, impossible.
I loved 5his whole series, loved that the last book was Blaze's pov! My only dissapointment is that the last chapter does not give enough closure, expkanation or a real idea of where they end up! But i would still give 5 stars and recommend this series cause it's awesome
