Imogen’s Baby is a tender and emotionally honest story that showcases Amanda Prowse’s signature style — warm, heartfelt, and deeply human. This book gently explores the joys and sorrows of motherhood, identity, and personal resilience in a way that’s both relatable and moving.
Imogen is a well-drawn character whose inner world is complex and believable. Her journey is filled with moments of vulnerability and strength, and I found myself rooting for her throughout. Prowse excels at depicting real-life struggles without ever becoming overly sentimental, and her prose flows with quiet grace.
The emotional weight of the story really resonated, though at times the pacing was a little slow. Some sections could have been tighter to keep the momentum going, but overall the depth of feeling and character development more than made up for it.
What I especially admired was how Prowse captured those small, often unspoken thoughts that many women experience — the doubts, hopes, fears, and love that come with new beginnings. It’s a story about growth, healing, and finding peace in unexpected places.

A lovely thought provoking short story, focused around Imogen who has been deaf since birth and how she strives to live a 'normal' life and have her own family.
I loved Imogen from the off a bubbly fun character who knows her own mind. This was a fantastic short read that I would throughly recommend.

This short story became an ever more powerful and inspirational read once I realised it was based on a real-life story about Imogen who although blind believes that the world is the colour of laughing and happy! What a wonderful way to live, believing the world to be like that. The story is absolutely gripping and I was rooting for Imogen all the way through the book urging her on to her dream (as if she needed any help from me, she was a fighter on her own) and felt her pain, disappointment, anxiety and happiness flood through the pages. Meeting Owen was everything she needed and deserved, and the way he described everything so perfectly to her so that she could visualise a painting, or a flower was beautiful. Another lovely afternoon treat from Amanda Prowse.

I decided to listen to this book on audible. I knew that the story was about a young blind lady and I wanted to experience the story as she would have told it. It’s incredibly powerful and moving. The descriptions in the flower market and the way that she “sees colours” is breathtaking. It has helped me to understand how to describe things to a blind person, what not to say or what to avoid. The story itself is great, I found it was over a little too fast and I was left wanting to know more about Imogen and her family.

She causes me to want to go where they are, move in next door, and get swallowed up in their lives. It's like living their lives with them. I highly recommend this book to those of you looking for characters with courage and the determination to overcome life's obstacles.

This was interesting and I enjoyed it but I felt it ended quite quickly as I expected it to continue into after the birth, even if they jumped forward and did 1 or 2 chapters of 6 months later that would have been good.

This was the most incredible sweet, heart-warming short story that you will read. Amanda Prowse has a wonderful gift in drawing readers into her stories with compelling storylines and gifted storytelling. And this recent offering is no exception as I was immediately swept into the lives and struggles of Isla and then her daughter Imogen. But most of all this wonderful short story is one of hope, and is a testament that whatever struggles and difficulties that we might face personally, it doesn't have to interfere with our dreams if only we are brave and take a leap of faith

I loved this book and read it in one go which I never do.
Amanda Prowse is so descriptive and compassionate in her writing and I just want to continue to read more of her stories. She is my current favourite author
