Revised and updated, the Lucado Life Lessons series continues to be one of the best-selling study guide series on the market today. For small group to individual use, intriguing questions and new material take the participant deeper into God's Word.
With more than 150 million products in print and several NYT bestsellers, Max Lucado is America's bestselling inspirational author. He serves the Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, where he lives with his wife, Denalyn, and their mischievous mutt, Andy. His most recent book published in August 2024 and is titled What Happens Next.
This study was a little disappointing. Max Lucado didn't focus nearly enough on Melchizedek to satisfy me. I wanted more meat on the study of Hebrews 11. I think Hebrews is just too fascinating a book to really cover in a 12-lesson study. But as with the previous study, what really made this valuable was the six other men who gather each Thursday evening to study together and pray together. Their insights and their stories amaze and challenge me.
We read through this Hebrews study guide as in our Essentials of the Faith Sunday School class and completed it this past Sunday (May 28, 2023).
We have a Man in glory interceding for us. How could we not have confidence in the grace so freely offer even here and now? So “Let us” consider God’s threefold invitation of faith, hope and love from Hebrews 10:22-24:
“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works…”
Studying the bible through another person's eyes takes a view of scrutiny. Because of my respect for Pastor Lucado, I took a journey through the book of Hebrews. It wasn't as inspiring as I hoped, but it was also more than I knew before, which is always a good thing. I never knew what an inspiration many of the verses could be, and knowing more is better than knowing less about God's word.
