A Heart Like Jesus

Rate this book
The heart of Jesus is sacred, and the lessons and examples it provides to us are paramount in our daily mission to follow in His footsteps. Max Lucado poses the question "what if, for one day and night, your heart was replaced by the heart of Christ?" That thought-provoking question leads to many personal revelations demonstrating that we can recast our hearts to be more like that of Jesus, and the blessings created by the transformation will unleash ripples to the widest edges of our lives and those around us.

This book touched my heart in so many ways. Loving people you are stuck with. Forgiving them. Learning how to finish strong as we go through various trials. "He loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave us that way. He wants us to be like Him." Many examples given that can be applied to our lives. A short but very in depth book. I immediately upon finishing it,ordered my own personal copy to reread and mark up Definitely 5+ stars!!!

This is a very short read, I read it aloud and recorded it about an hour and twenty minutes. Because after I read a couple of pages my thought was I’d read the book and give it away and have one less book on my shelf, but wanted to still have the words and take notes. After reading it? I can’t give the book away, and I’m going to go purchase several copies to give to family and friends… it’s that good, a must read. 💕🙏🏻

As a lifelong spiritual seeker who somehow grew up in the heart of the Bible Belt without having ever read the Bible, I picked up this book out of a free library on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed the author's concise, yet powerful, summation of how to emulate Jesus's love. An act, more so than a feeling, this depiction of love strikes me as precisely what many of us could benefit from learning about. It is simple enough to be understood and applied by any spiritualist, and perhaps some materialists as well. Thank you, Max Lucado, your book found me at a very appropriate and much-needed time in my life.

Good things come in small packages...but don't let the size of the book deter you away from the powerful words inside! Once again, Max Lucado successfully invites the reader to walk closer in understanding what God what for your life. Quoting from the book, 'He loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way. He wants you to be just like Jesus." Wow, just the way we are - imagine that! This book is merely 86 pages long and makes for an easy read. I urge you to read this book; You'll be glad you did.

I read my first Lucado book in 2001. The title was Traveling Light and it touched my heart. 23 years later I continue to read his books and they continue to touch my heart. This is a short book that tells us how to love like Jesus. Pastor Lucado uses stories from the Bible and personal experience to bring the message. As a Christian I needed the spiritual reminder. There’s no other author that makes me feel as I’m sitting with him having a good conversation. I recommend all his books including this one.

Opened my heart

I’ve been searching and reading a number of books that would help me find peace and joy in my life. This book has done that. It’s opened not only my eyes to see the changes I need to make but, also my mind to guard all the negative thoughts that seep their way into my heart. I now know that I have to ask the Holy Spirit to help me start my day with a positive attitude and work at keeping it that way all day. One day at a time.

Good things can come in small packages.

My disclaimer, there is so much literature out there that if a book does not capture my heart or attention I seldom will finish it.

This small, but heart provoking read is a must read. Max Lucado has captured, through the use of Scripture, what it is to have a heart like Jesus.

practical ways we can be like Jesus

Max Lucado is one of my favorite authors. It has been my honor to gift many of his books to encourage and inspire the people in my life to follow Jesus. A Heart Like Jesus reminded me why I chose to follow Jesus, to reflect His heart. Highly recommend!

It was mostly a compilation of a few of his other books, mostly Just Like Jesus, but it was good to rehash this wisdom. To have a heart like Jesus is so hard for a simple man like myself, but I sure am trying. I am trying to achieve inner-peace and true happiness. And I know the ONLY way to true happiness is serving others. We think money and nice things can achieve this, but that is only a temporary fix and dishonesty with yourself. Anyway, good book.

Short book to read over a day or two. My only problem is the paraphrasing. He mentions that most verses come from the NIV, yet are not direct quotes. My problem is that if you are quoting or sourcing something, say it the way they did or don't source them.

There is little substance to the book, its not meant to be a heavy read, its meant as a moral or mood booster. So if you need a feed good speaker this is the guy to go to.

I love this little book. It is the first book have read front to back (it's VERY little) in about 5 years. Jesus healed my eyes which were broken. It was a monumental moment to actually finish a book. I look forward to actually being able to finish books now. Thank you Jesus!!
