Everyone loves a good story. Young and old, we all want to be entertained. We want to connect with the characters-feel what they feel, know what they know. But stories can do much more than entertain. As a parent you have a unique opportunity to teach your children something special each time they eagerly request, "Tell me a story." The stories in this book are tiny slices of the larger story of God and His people-a story into which you and your children are intricately woven. Use these anecdotes and illustrations to awaken their imaginations and open their hearts to their Creator. Along the way you'll find nuggets of eternal wisdom that will touch you as well as them. To know God better, to understand our place in His great ongoing story-that is the goal of the Christian life. It's up to you to tell your children God's story. As you share with them an intimate knowledge of the living God, they will begin to trust Him, to seek after Him, and to stretch out their arms for His loving embrace. It began with a dream in the heart of God. Against the soundless sweep of infinity, the Great Creator shaped a world and peopled it with children made in His own image. And that world is now the stage where a great human drama is played-the Fall of the human race, its redemption, the ongoing battle between good and evil, and the coming again of our Lord Jesus Christ. This ancient story of mankind belongs to us and to our children-enabling us to know meaning in our lives. God has given parents the awesome privilege-and responsibility-to instruct their children in these eternal truths. Pastor/author Max Lucado and illustrator Ron DiCianni have joined forces to create a unique work, a tool parents can use for this purpose. At a time when children are being assaulted by unholy messages from all sides, it is essential that they be grounded in their faith. Combining powerful illustrations with sensitive narrative, this book will help prepare children to be so familiar with their heavenly Father's voice that when He calls them or speaks to them, they will hear and willingly obey with joy because they have come to know Him intimately.
With more than 150 million products in print and several NYT bestsellers, Max Lucado is America's bestselling inspirational author. Oh, where do I start?? Between the words written by Max Lucado, the gorgeous calligraphy done by Timothy Botts, and the paintings (they ARE definitely, not just illustrations) created by Ron DiCianni, this book is eye-candy to the heart, mind, eye, and soul. I have had it for many years, and EVERY time I pick it up again, I am drawn in as if I had never seen it before. It is eight chapters which weave the "ancient story of mankind" together with our present and our future and makes clearer the purpose of life. I am in AWE every time I read it, for it is a living poetry, a tangible story, one that gets deeper than just skin deep if one allows. I would highly recommend this book as is recommended, to anyone from "six to sixty" and beyond...
I might have given this four stars if I had read the book rather than listening to the audiobook. As an audiobook I felt it lacked a target audience. I’m aware it was originally a picture book, but a number of the stories felt unsuitable for that format and age group. And oddly enough I found a few Biblical errors in the text, which surprised me.
A treasure trove of beautiful artwork and provoking stories from the master storyteller. The first story in the collection, "In the Beginning" is worth the price of the book by itself! It describes a conversation with God and an angel while the Creator is imagining the world. I will never be able to read it without tears!
This is a collections of Christian short stories. Some of them are allegorical and some are stories where we see the spiritual realm as well as the physical one.

Amei demais a forma que tudo for colocado.
A book of short stories told in Max Lucado's sweet and simple way.
This was a good book, some of the stories I thought were just a little too fictitious, but I did like the main gist of it. The last story made me sad because it is the truth. This book is meant to encourage children and help them understand all that God has done and is going to do.
This book was amazing. The stories were short and perfect for a quick read but very meaningful and impactful. Each one had its own message and there was deep emotion behind each and every story. This book was amazing and I would recommend it to everyone looking for a perfect, short but meaningful book to renew your connection with our Lord.
