Like true Jaimie Roberts fashion this is sooooo freaking easy to get into, straight away your absorbed in the story, you hate, like, love Luca with a passion he's everything an arrogant asshole should be..
The only major problem I was having was "Luca Belatoni” He’d been trying—and failing—to send his little troops over here to demand money for his protection and discretion.
Apart these two sizzle, together these two are like fire crackers ready to detonate, the banter, the sexual innuendo's, the flirting all round up this book perfectly.
Whatever he threw at me would be a challenge. A game almost. Bring it on, buddy! show me what you got.
Even though Luca is a force to be reckoned with, she gives it right back at him, never backs down to his demands, and gives as good as she gets..
Those lips are not to go near another man’s anatomy.
I started laughing. His jealous outbursts were becoming quite comical to me now.
Okay, tiger. Stand down.
He looked at me for a moment and then laughed.
I think I would prefer lion to a tiger. You could be my lioness.
Let’s just say a lion is about to meet his match
This was a fast-paced world with fast-paced clients - looking for some fast action. When they wanted it, they got it.
Shit on a brick that ending is not how it was mean't to end in my head!! GAH!! I needs book #2 now!!
This is so different to what you would normally expect from this author, I'm used to her throwing me a bit of dark a bit of grit, but what you can definitely expect from her is her tendency to give us hot alpha males, this book definitely gave us that, I started this and could not put it down, I basically finished it in the we hours of the night, definitely a series I will be hunting down to complete.

Fuckity fucking fuck!!!
after reading this...
and my heart, along with my head, hurts like a virgin fuck cause the mobsters are in this book and the book was just plain and simple a
why?
first of all - the story was lacking in originality BUT I could have swallowed that no question asked if all the other segments did the work.
Unfortunately they didn't.
The characters were quite frankly immature! IMMATURE. Irritantly IMMATURE!!!
therefore, their "lines" were fucking immature. As well as their actions. Totally unbelievable, without any credibility. And most of the time i was rolling my eyes.
i love ALPHAS, I can bear the "cavemanish" act BUT it has to lead to a point that is much more consistent than the jo-jo action of "her running in anger from him and him chasing her down for a bit of a fucking reassurance"
that could pass for one time or two, but the whole book, well no.
and then the cliffer...now that was just smth I had known it would happen at the 50% of the book.
I honestly don't know why i kept going...as this point I am quite mad at myself...
so, why 2 stars?
well, there were some good points, I can't deny it...and some funny banter...so I will acknowledge that BUT
but when you need to reach for the highlights in here and you can only hold on to this:
"What am i, your Private?"
" No, but i can ' t wait for you to get to know mine."
"Ah, so we're a comedian now?"
"Actually, i take my privates very seriously."

Clara owns and runs .... well, a brothel. An exclusive gentlemen's club in an exclusive location: The Castle!!
And suddenly there's this Luca guy. He's sending his goons to collect money.
Like in old Mafia movies. Protection money!!!
No way - no how. Not with Clara!!!
But why, oh why does this Luca have to look like he does???
My God, he was perfect.
Luca. Beautiful, sexy, and dangerous Luca - with the most amazing brown eyes I had ever seen.
Clara is extremely attracted to him, but then he comes into The Castle to hold her hostage until.... until what? What does he want? Money? Her body?
And stupidly enough, she's still attracted to him. She wants him. But on her terms, not on his!!!
Let the games begin!

GREAT BOOK!!!
I'm not the biggest fan of Mafia Romances...but I'm a fan of whatever Jaimie writes, so I had to read it....
I loved it... BUT ... there are some buts for me......
I think the book could've been 100 pages shorter and we still wouldn't have missed anything of the story.
Nothing really happens in this book. :/ (< that sounds worse than I meant it to sound ☺)
Luca comes into Clara's life and business....takes over, more or less....It's all pretty Insta.
Then we have sex (I expected a tiny little more exciting sex-scenes in a Mafia Romance!), we have LOTS of (funny) arguing, lots of girls running around being prostitutes, but acting like pfff, it's such an amazing job... and towards the end it gets a bit more eventful - some suspense and tears and yup - a Cliffy!
And grrrr - now I can't wait to read book #2 ☺☺☺
Even with all my BUTs ... I still enjoyed reading this story.
It was really sexy...
and verrry funny and weird and crazy.... everything you need in your romances!
Lots of sexy italian guys and one very hot, dominant Boss!
I really loved Luca - he's a great guy, well, he's a criminal, but pffff - I loved him! He's so adorably dominant with Clara, but she fights him every step of the way....adorable!

Why oh why didn't I start this one earlier? The first in its new series, Luca was thrilling as it was dumbfounding for me.
There were some scenes I inwardly chuckled to myself with the dialogues between Luca and Clara because I found it very entertaining and astounding, but over all, I was very taken with this book. It was definitely something I've been looking for in a while after a long, long book drought for me as of late.
For those of you who love mafia themed reads, with steam and two leads that will make you begging for more then this book is for you!

4 stars for the first 80% but the last 20% deserve 5 stars.
I’ve been reading several books written by Jaimie Roberts so far. From “Deviant” to “A Step Two Close”, she surprised me every time.
But when I learned she wrote about the female keeper of a high class brothel and a hot alpha mobster, I was hesitant to read it. My problem was not the mobster as I love a good mobster story, it was a woman running a house of ill repute. We all have heard about Madame Claude and I imagined someone like her, exploiting other women and it did not sit well with me. When Jaimie offered the opportunity to read the book, I took it, despite my reservations and now, I’m glad I did as I want, no I NEED to know what’ll happen next and I NEED the second installment right now! I can’t believe I was so distracted I did not notice this was a series (with “Sicilian Mafia #1”, I should have known) as now I’m very, very, very frustrated because… huge cliffhanger ahead!
Now, enough rambling and more of the story:
Clara Murphy is coming from a very religious family. Her parents were churchgoing pillars of their community with her father being a vicar. She had a very tough upbringing as : “They tried bringing me up to their standards of living, but I could never be molded. From the time I was a little girl, I had possessed an independent streak, so it never worked.”
She fled her house quite young and helped with her wealthy Aunt Trudy, bought a castle and ran a prostitution business. Not any brothel though as all her girls are high-class women that her rich clientele is ready to pay a high price for the “privilege of their company”.
I must admit Clara was not my imaginary Madame Claude. I warmed to her for several reasons:
-she never forces her girls with a client. They have to be willing;
-she cares for her girls, protects and respects them;
-her girls like what they do and once they want out, Clara thanks them for their help, no hard feelings.
So her business was not as “sick” as I thought it would feel. Cherry on top, I loved Clara’s strong personality. That girl can stand her ground and she gave our hot alpha male a run for his money. It was uplifting to see an alpha female battling with an alpha male, never cowering. Their relationship was explosive, oscillating between epic fights and steamy sex.
Now, enters Luca Belatoni. Luca is alpha through and through, possessive, oozing sex appeal, dangerous, domineering and determined to make Clara “his”.
“You’re mine. Mine to take, mine to keep, and mine to do whatever the fuck I want to. Your body, your soul, and even your will are all mine and only mine.”
If you loooove sexy alpha male, well endowed, you’ve met your very own dream : “I knew the expression “The Italian Stallion”, but he took the biscuit. It looked like a monster was trying to escape his trousers.” I know some of you are salivating right now, you can admit it.
Threatening to take Clara’s money in exchange for his protection and discretion, I discovered progressively that not everything is as it seems. Not Luca’s real motives, neither Luca himself!
Begins a battle of will as Luca is determined to own Clara and she does not want to surrender, nor being “possessed”, despite their strong mutual attraction. Luca wants to wear Clara out. He gives Luca-boosters and only when she’ll tell him she is his, he will make love to her. What is a Luca-booster you say? I let you fill the blanks in…
It was hot, it was fun (I was snickering many times when Clara made Luca sweat for what he wanted, the little she-devil!) it was not what I expected. I really liked it and I did not see that bomb coming! But with him “running away from his problem in Scotland because he’s been doing it for so long, most of his life and he doesn’t know any different “ I should have guessed it would have been too simple and straightforward. I also loved that Jaimie surprised me, once more.
Why not 5 stars then? Mainly because I missed the overwhelming feelings Jaimie can give me when she delves in the dark past, the psyche of her characters. I loved the “before” in Deviant as they were cute and made me swoon, I loved the heartbreaking feelings in “Chained” when I was sucked in a bad memory or a hard scene. In “Luca”, the intensity I expected came in the end. I think we barely scratched the surface and much more is to come. I won’t tell details as not to spoil your fun but the story really kicked in by the end and the next installment has all the potential to give me these devastating feelings, the high voltage tension I’m expecting.

A bit let down by this one. I expected more and I just couldn't connect with the characters. A lot of sensuality but I needed more. The heroes screamed immaturity to me. It was not for me but it might work for you.

If you love your Alpha Males to be totally possessive, domineering, won't take no for an answer, then you'll love this.
Luca is supposed to be head of some kind of Mafia type organisation, but, dont mistake this for some kind of Godfather-esque novel. I didn't actually get a sense that Luca was particularly dangerous, but then again he was never really out to harm Clara, owner of a brothel and the woman he has set his sights on.
Like many of Jaimie's books, this one is set in the UK and Clara's brothel is more like a mansion, so I guess you could say she is the Queen of the Manor and Luca did have similar tendencies to a very well known fictional overbearing, domineering alpha male. However that is where the similarity ends.
I think what made this book so good was the fact that we have one extremely alpha male pursuing an extremely alpha female and the two together make certain scenes extremely hot and explosive.
I loved Clara. She took no nonsense from Luca and I especially loved how she continuously provoked Luca, which made this book quite funny in places.
The secondary characters were also incredibly likeable.
This book may have had a slightly different feel to Jaimie's other books as it felt a bit more lighthearted, however she has once again blown me away with the ending and made me desperate for the next book in the series.

Every time I read one of Jaimie's books I end up saying something in the line of "She did it yet again..!" and this time it won't be any different. I read Luca first time around 2 years ago (I think) and since that day Luca has been MY book hubby.. I know we book geeks make a habit of arguing about our book men, because we all want to claim them, but Luca is MINE.. Capiche!!
He is the only book man you will ever hear me trying to claim (probably) because this Italian Stallion really is THAT sexy.. like leave your heart beating out of your chest and your panties on fire SEXY!
But this book isn't all about the domineering Italian stallion (though he would probably have argued that it was, had he lived in the real world) but it is also about the strong and stubborn leading lady Carla who takes shit from no one.
Carla is one of my favorite leading ladies because of this simple reason and plus the fact that she knows how to stand on her own two feet without needing a man to save her every second of the day.
So what am I saying?
Well, Jaimie has yet again given us a multi dimensional story about characters with real emotions, tough pasts and a story line that leaves you not only drooling but hungry for more.. So READ IT!!

I loved it! I can't wait for the next book in the series. This book kept me in suspense the whole time. I was not expecting that ending either!! Wow!! Jaimie outdid herself again.

The story takes a twist that reveals the truth about Luca's takeover. Some of my angst is relieved and the story becomes amusing and entertaining. Clara who has been held captive by Luca is busted out of the The Castle by her posse. Clare had decided since they were off for the night they would go to a local club, hilarious debauchery is what next ensues. Once Clara returns to The Castle, Luca continues his domineering courting tactics. The heated bantering and the sexual chemistry between Luca and Clare keeps you laughing and fanning yourself. Clare is as much as an Alpha as Luca. Her past has made her strong and determined. Luca is in for the battle of the wills. He's determined and did discover a naughty way to tame Clara.
I love the chemistry between the characters. Clara is as much as a 'bull' as Luca. Luca is an Italian, domineering bull however as the story progressed he becomes an Italian, domineering bull with a big heart.

Clara is an independent brothel owner who doesn't take any sh*t from anyone. Luca Belatoni seemed to be in for a fight coming in from Clara after he tried to strong arm her and her business. He shows up with his forceful mafia ways man handling Clara and her business. Luca holds her in her own Castle until she relents to his demands. Clara fuming and hurt by her aunt's decision to go to Luca for help in exchange Luca gained her aunt's shares of the business.
Clara seemed to be more of a strong willed independent woman but I was disappointed with her quick resolve. She gave into Luca so quickly she did not have the show the personality she was perceived to have. I had hoped she would handed Luca his ass on a platter but was disappointed. I did still enjoy the storyline and the characters but I wanted more of Clara's perceived strong personality. It was more of an understanding but not experienced in the story. This was different from Jaimie's usual strong willed female characters.
With all that being said I do love me some Jaimie Roberts and have floved every book of hers previously maybe that is why I feel disappointed Luca was lacking. I will definitely read the rest of the series. The storyline and characters were still worth the read but I missed Jaimie's usual hot, sexy, spunky, independent, strong women and absorbing storyline. Maybe my expectations have been so high it was doomed from the beginning. This is only book one and look forward to reading book 2.

Clara is an independent brothel owner who doesn't take any sh*t from anyone. Luca Belatoni seemed to be in for a fight coming in from Clara after he tried to strong arm her and her business. He shows up with his forceful mafia ways man handling Clara and her business. Luca holds her in her own Castle until she relents to his demands. Clara fuming and hurt by her aunt's decision to go to Luca for help in exchange Luca gained her aunt's shares of the business.
Clara seemed to be more of a strong willed independent woman but I was disappointed with her quick resolve. She gave into Luca so quickly she did not have the show the personality she was perceived to have. I had hoped she would handed Luca his ass on a platter but was disappointed. I did still enjoy the storyline and the characters but I wanted more of Clara's perceived strong personality. It was more of an understanding but not experienced in the story. This was different from Jaimie's usual strong willed female characters.
With all that being said I do love me some Jaimie Roberts and have floved every book of hers previously maybe that is why I feel disappointed Luca was lacking. I will definitely read the rest of the series. The storyline and characters were still worth the read but I missed Jaimie's usual hot, sexy, spunky, independent, strong women and absorbing storyline. Maybe my expectations have been so high it was doomed from the beginning. This is only book one and look forward to reading book 2.

It's no secret that I'm a HUGE fan of Jaimie's. I've loved every book of hers that I've read, and this is no exception.
Luca is everything you'd think an Italian Mafia guy would be. Arrogant, egotistical, demanding. But underneath you get the sense that he's also fiercely loyal to those he cares for. He never makes a promise he can't keep, and he doesn't break the promises he makes.
Clara is strong, smart and stubborn. She is used to doing things on her own, and doesn't take kindly to any one interfering. Especially a mafioso coming in under the pretense of "protecting" her.
There is instant attraction between the two, but also a lot of animosity on Clara's part. It takes Luca time to break down her walls, but when he does, it's beautiful to see.
I think that this book, being the first in the series, is setting the background for the upcoming stories. A lot of things are established in this book, like known enemies, and things with Clara's family, and I have a feeling that they will be way more present in the upcoming book.
There are no graphic violent scenes, and the sex scenes are all consensual and hot. There is also a pretty big cliffhanger. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading the second.

This is a really enjoyable light read with some extremely amusing moments thrown in - that had me randomly giggling away to myself !
Clara is fiercely independent she run's her own business, a whore house made to look like an elegant hotel 'The Castle'. Clara is very professional and takes the safety of her girls very seriously.
When Mr Dangerous Luca arrives on the scene wanting payment for protection - a battle of wills begins. Luca has set his sights on Clara at any cost and he 'always' gets what he wants. Clara is extremely determined not to let the hot, handsome, dangerous Italian man win. Can she say no and if so, how long for ?
I really did enjoy this book and I connected well with Clara, I loved Luca even though I felt that he wasn't dangerous enough for me and the 'mafia' influence throughout the book wasn't quite strong enough.
Putting those points aside, this story is a really good enjoyable and humorous read! and beware the ending will leave you wanting the next book right now !

You gotta love a book about a strong woman that owns her place in this world and doesn't even think she needs a man for anything. Well here is an amazing book about just that. This is about a woman that has her life by the balls and anybody or anything that stands in her way will go down, lol..she's so feisty!! I love it. Then you have this big, hot alpha that just has to have her and won't let anything stand in his way...he doesn't take no for an answer and always gets what he wants, and he wants..no needs her :)
The back and for between these two was worth the read alone and even though there seemed to be parts that were a little to drawn out for my liking I thought this was an amazing story with awesome characters. I honostly don't know if I loved these two better fighting or getting along but regardless, either way, they were so hot together. Jaimie definitely outdid herself with this book and I can't wait to see what else she has coming :)

Clara is one of those strong and sassy women that I absolutely love to read. Now she also has her vulnerabilities, but you just know that she's going to face them head on. She has her hands full with Luca for sure. He's all alpha and all about Clara. He comes on strong from the beginning claiming her as his own. I have to admit that I loved that and the whole insta-love/lust thing they had going on. I wanted Clara to fight it though as she made Luca work for it. They are scorching hot together and even hotter as they did that dance around each other. I loved every time Clara mouthed off to him and how he reacted like a brick wall not giving up on what he wanted. I also loved when she was tender with him and it slayed him. I so enjoyed their story and can't wait to read more.

O.M.G. I freakin' love Luca. I wanted to hate him he is cocky, assinine, conceited, domineering, and anything else a man who knows he's hot can be. He was forceful and determined to get his way from the beginning. But let me tell you Clara gave as good as she got! She was a force of nature herself. The more he pushed the more she pushed back. This couple has fireworks galore. This is one of the best stories I have ever read. kudos Jaimie you nailed it!!!!! I have read this story three times already!!! And look forward to reading it again and to say I wait with bated breath to read the next one in the series is putting it mildly.

4.5 Crazy Ass Stars!!!
I wasn't too sure about this reading this but after reading the blurb I was intrigued. I'm not really one for mafia-type books but I was sucked into this right from the start. I did have a bit of a problem with how domineering Luca was and, holy hell, that ending didn't help his situation at all. I didn't see that coming but in a way I kinda did. Well, not so much that exact thing but I felt something was about to happen.
I need book 2 like yesterday. I'm off to stalk Jaimie Roberts now to see when that will be releasing. Oh, and definitely grab this. It's funny, hot, and will have you either wanting to swoon over or choke this crap out of Luca.

This was my first Jaimie Roberts book but won't be my last!!!
Holy cow! The ending? Left me pissed as hell, and now I have to wait over a month for the next one! AGHHHH!

I have to say I Am extremely disappointed with this book. Thought I won't be wasting my time reading the author's books as I love Deviant. However, this book is like watching a low-budget theatrical drama. Both Clara,

Jamie has done it again.
Well OMG after deviant and chained I never thought I could put another book on my favorite list from jaimie. WRONG. This was amazing in jaimie style we had a independent heroine. Which I love. This of course captivated me. But the end was omg shocking and brilliant. Can't wait to read book 2. Jaimie is one of my favorite authors and Luca is one of the reasons why.

What the holy hell!! Oh Luca was such a sexy and erotic read!! He knew what he wanted and that was Clara Murphy. Clara is just the right amount of spunk and sass that Luca needed. The ending had me thrown completely!! I can't wait for my pre order of book2 to be delivered Feb. 26th!! I need answers!!

Get ready to shake your head, laugh, smile, and get down right angry. This book is a roller coaster of emotions for Clara and the reader. Luca is one hot headed, amazing piece of crap. Well that is what I felt at the end of this book with its little cliffhanger. I think that there is a saying that goes something like. You know that a book was really good by how much emotion you felt at the end. Well let me tell you, I wanted to hit something after I finished this book. Trust me I am not prone to bouts of violence. I don’t know if it was the feelings of Clara rubbing off on me, but my own Italian blood started to boil. Luca, you better redeem yourself in the next book, because I really want to believe you are going to make this right.
Sorry for that rant. This book was great. I am almost afraid to start another book, because I feel that I will be disappointed. Yup, I definitely need to read the next book.
