I remember waking to the scream.
I remember calling my sister's name.
I remember seeing the blood smeared along the staircase.
I remember the creature's green eyes.
They say there's a cure. They say there's a way to stop this madness, a way to stop the hunger.
I think they're lying.
My name is Ella, and this is my story.

In this exhilarating debut, Holly Sparks presents a horrifying dystopian world, a remarkable heroine, and an unforgettable adventure.

If you enjoy a good zombie story and a badass female protagonist, Enrule is for you!

Positives: action scenes galore! Sparks does an awesome job of writing action and fight scenes and there were plenty to go around! I also love that there was a mystery throughout the novel that kept us intrigued ;) I will keep it at that to avoid spoilers! And Sparks created such an awesome character in Zoe!

Now for some constructive critiques (and this is totally just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt). Ella was kickass, but I also found her backstory and development a bit repetitive. I felt the only thing we learned about her was how she wanted to protect her friends. I don't know much else about her personality. I felt the supporting characters also had a lack of development. Zoe was my favorite, but besides her, I didn't care much for the others as I just didn't learn much about them.

I'm anxious to see where this story ends up going. As a debut novel, Enrule was a great foundation to begin building a series off of. Congratulations Holly!

Definitely not my normal choice of story but I found that the fast pace and many mysteries kept my interest.

Ella is one of the very few survivors after the zombie virus invaded their neighborhood. They were taken to a place called Underground where they are trained to fight and defend theirselves against the zombies. Saving the other survivors who were trapped outside is their main objective. Just when she thought that everything is finally getting better, a shocking incident happened that made Ella and her new found friends to take a very dangerous step.

I want to start with what I love about Enrule and obviously, it's the gorgeous cover. I haven't read the book description so I had no idea what the story was all about. I thought it's a fantasy novel with warriors or magic on it. I was totally surprised that this is about zombie apocalypse which was so perfect because I'm a zombie fiction fan.

Ella is the main character in this book and honestly, I didn't really like her that much. She can be really stubborn and sometimes, annoying. She made me roll my eyes especially during those instances when she meets a new guy. But I do admire her braveness, dedication and willingness to save and protect her friends and other people.

Zoe is definitely my favorite character. She is a certified badass. Just like Ella and the others, I was also amazed by her assassin/ninja-like skills. Sadly, I wasn't able to connect with the characters because I didn't get to know much about them. I hope we'll get to see more about their background stories on the next book. There is romance and probably a love triangle but I didn't care much about it. I was more intrigued with the mystery part of the story.

Action-packed! This book has a great deal of well-executed fighting scenes and I love it. Aside from the engaging story, the writing is easy to understand and it flows smoothly which made this book a quick and fun read.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Enrule. This is perfect for zombie fiction lovers out there and for those of you who wants to read something which is outside your comfort zone. I'm pretty sure that you'll love this.

A very outstanding debut novel. Congrats to Ms. Holly and please don't let us wait too long for the second book. :D

Enrule by Holly Sparks was incredible. It had my heart racing, my eyes watering and I laughed too! Enrule is the story of Ella's life after the world she lives in has been taken over by zombies basically... its about her survival, the people she meets, the near death experiences and about her family.
~
Ella is the main character in the story and to be honest at the very, very start I was a bit unsure on her. I thought she might be a little annoying like a lot of characters seem to be but No! Did Holly Sparks just create one of the coolest characters? Yes she did! Ella was so brave and quite a hero! I really enjoyed reading the novel from her point of view! She is also like the best fighter out there! (well, with the amount of time she had she is)
~
Troy..... heheheh Troy was amazing! He was... I loved him! My new bookish boyfriend ;-) I really looked forward to reading scenes with Troy because of the Chemistry and just his over all attitude its great!
~
Zoe was another character that really liked she was like a mini ninja! And I loved how close her and Ella become throughout the book!
~
I DO NOT LIKE SOMEONE OR A FEW SOMEONES BUT I WONT SAY ANYTHING CAUSE DONT WANT TO SPOIL THE SUPRISE!!!! But Holly Sparks did a great job at making me hate these character/s!
~
So, this novel is a defiantly a must read for the beginning of 2016 if you haven't already read it! I can see it becoming a major craze very soon so why not join in on the greatness early!!
Holly has a great writing style that should be shared with the world!

When I heard that Holly Sparks, who I know from Bookstagram, had written a book, I had to support her and buy it, especially as it is about ZOMBIES :)

I really liked the story of Ella, the main character.
With the first chapter, the reader is immediately 'thrown' into the story, as zombies are chasing after Ella and her family, who are all trying to get to safety. At that moment, the reader basically knows what this novel is mainly about: zombies, survival, loyalty, and badass fighting :)

Ella arrives at an underground facility with some other survivors. Here, the mytery is added to the equation - quiet talk about an organization called The Society, a mysterious man called Derrick, the supposed leader of the facility Ella is currently staying at, ...

Ella meets Troy and 3 other boys from her dormitory, and Kira and her group of friends. It was great to introduce these characters into the story, but what happened to fast - in my eyes - was the development of their friendships and them trusting each other immediately without knowing anything about each other but the fact that they are all survivors.

The story has a slightly bumpy beginning, but it developed alright. The ending was my favourite part of the whole book (the last 70 pages or so). I can say that I liked Ella. She is a badass fighter, she is loyal and doesn't want to leave anyone behind, but sometimes she acts a little rash, maybe? Getting herself in danger, instead of running from it - sometimes this is brave, but it could also be a little foolish, running toward danger when you are trying to survive ;)

Other than that, Holly Sparks knows how to describe places and fighting scenes, they were very well written. There were a few grammar and punctuation errors, but nothing major :)

I will be looking forward to reading the sequel to Enrule,
Anne ♥

I enjoyed this story, and found it to be a nice light read. There was a good deal of action, and a nice mix of romantic feelings for good measure. It took a while to get to know that characters, and I have to admit that every time there is a strong female character that all the guys around are instantly drawn to me, I get a little turned off. That's just a personal preference, but in general the characters were likable. There were some wording errors, but not enough to distract from the general flow of the story. The action was fast paced, and didn't seem forced. There are also some good mysterious elements which make me really curious to see where the story will go next. I can't say that zombies are a particular favorite of mine, but I did enjoy the story.

The writing in this particular book is very engaging. I read this book in one sitting, and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting a Zombie book going into this, but I ended up enjoying it. I liked the quick pace of the book, and it was to its advantage to be so quick!

It was a quick and easy read, fair for a first book. The editor/beta reader could have done a bit more to improve the grammar. After the first few chapters the pace finally picked up and I can see myself reading Venom once it is published.

So, I have SO MUCH to say about this book that I have no idea where to start or what to say first. This book is short but is so full of action and I JUST LOVED IT SO MUCH!!
If you know me, I LOVE zombies. Zombie shows (aka The Walking Dead which is my life), zombie movies and zombie books. And this incredible book is all about zombies! So, of course, I have really high hopes for this when I started reading.
It had EVERYTHING I was expecting. It had zombies (obviously!) that were not your usual zombies but still zombies! It had romance which if you also know me, I'm a sucker for a love story and anything romantic! It had action which I LOVED!!! Who DOESNT love action?!! It had swords and knife throwing and hot guys (aka Troy) and romance and action and zombies and Troy and death and Troy and badass girls with swords and Troy.
I mean, it was truly amazing!!! If I didn't have this freaking cold, I would have finished way earlier today.
Anyway, so Ella is the main character who starts out vulnerable and weak and then when she's out there looking for survivors to help it's the BAM she's a badass girl with a sword. Honestly, I loved her character because I could see myself in her. I am probably the weakest person ever, I can't throw a punch to save my life. And that's just like Ella at the beginning of this book. Everyone laughs at her because she can't even throw a punch. And then when she's out there looking for survivors, her defensive skills kick in and she does everything and anything she can to protect her friends. This reminded me kind of like myself, because I would do anything I possibly can to protect my family and those I love. We all would.
And then there's Troy. If you couldn't already tell, I love his character!! He was so mysterious throughout this book. You hardly fun out anything about him which makes me like him even more because it leaves everything to your imagination. But, one thing we do find out is he has a protective streak towards Ella. And, of course, you can't have a zombie book or any book without some romance sparking.
Enrule kind of reminds me of Divergent and The 5th Wave rolled into one. But that's okay because I LOVE Divergent and I LOVE The 5th Wave!!!! So I DEFINITELY loved this.
Okay, so I could go on FOREVER talking about this book and how much I utterly enjoyed it but then I'll just have to tell you everything that happens and I cannot do that. So, GO GET THIS BOOK SO I CAN FANGIRL ABOUT IT WITH SOMEONE!!!
EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK!!! It's short, only 232 pages, so it's a quick read but it is so full of amazing action and zombies.
I'm just going to talk about the ending for a second. OH. MY. GOSH. THAT WAS SO CRUEL TO LEAVE IT LIKE THAT. I just wanted to scream (in a good way!) when I finished it. I NEEEEEEDDD to know what happens next

Well, well. What can I say? Holly Sparks is honestly one of the most sophisticated, imaginative, insightful and inventive writers I have ever encountered. I started this book yesterday, and finished it today. I was just so elusively drawn the storytelling that Holly Sparks has mastered that I couldn't resist but to start and finish it immediately. It's a roller coaster of ups and downs, with enough stomach-churning and gob smacking moments to last for an infinity. This book creates such a closely-woven complex of meaning through its portrayal of a girl who has lost everything who fights and strives to keep her spirit alive and to keep those around her safe. One of the elements that drew me so closely to Enrule, is the complexity of characters. Take Ella (the protagonist) for example. She's fearless, brave, warrior-like, yet she is lost and lonely, and possesses almost every emotion we can relate to. And Troy - he's mysterious, intriguing and confusing, just like any stranger would be in such a scenario. But Enrule creates such an intense relationship between these two characters that we start to realise that we never see relationships which are so beautifully created, developed and sustained throughout novels of this sort. All of the characters exist for a purpose. So many young adult novels and short stories I read today are bombarded with bland characters which supposedly exist for no reason or have limited purpose. Events are so intricately structured around the objectives and conflicts of characters, that there is consistent interest concentrated on the novel. This is undoubtedly the best novel I have read all year - and possibly the best ever - and I cannot be more pleased that I picked up this novel. When I closed the novel I felt so flabbergasted and pleased, yet so impatient. When will the second book in the series be released? My patience just doesn't last this long!
I often say 'don't judge a book by it's cover', but in this case, I say do. Look at the cover - look at it's beauty and mysteriousness - I can promise you that this alluring vibe constitutes the novel as much as the cover. 5/5. 10/10. 20/20. However you want to write it, this book is undoubtedly marvellous. If you don't pick up a copy or order one ASAP, I can promise you that you'll regret it. Is Holly Sparks the next big thing? I think she certainly is. This novel has proved that Holly Sparks has exactly what it takes to be a bestseller.

This sounds like just my sort of book! Anyone who knows me, knows that I adore zombie fiction. I seriously snatch them up and devour them all as if I was one of those human-munching monsters myself. So when I spotted a gorgeous picture of this one on Instagram, I just had to give it a go!

It didn’t let me down either. Firstly what a beautiful cover! I mean look at this gorgeous thing. Although I have no idea who the character is as this girl has white hair, while the main character is meant to have blonde. It’s still gorgeous though, but they definitely should have stuck the sword through a letter all Castle-esque. The blood-stained sword looks very majestic though and definitely alludes to all of the fighting that goes on in this. Because, let me tell you, this book is chock-a-block full of action and all of the good stuff that you could possibly want in a zombie fic, feat many knives and the occasional saucepan! There is an abundance of fight scenes though that sometimes feel a little bit repetitive, and does Ella have to kick everyone between the legs? But then that would make sense considering every guy, other than the few she decides to befriend, seem to be desperate to get into her pants. Like seriously, every guy?

In addition to that I also got a strong ‘the chosen one’ theme running through this. For starters she’s the only girl put into a room with all boys. Then she’s given private training by the second top fighter in the camp and she’s hand-picked by Kira out of everyone there. The romance is also a little meh for me. They meet eyes once and suddenly everyone is telling her how this guy has eyes for her? I’m just not a fan of the whole love at first sight thing – I prefer reading the chemistry and watching the relationship build naturally.

Following on from that, the relationships didn’t seem that believable to me. The characters too – they were a little 2D. I would have loved more of a backstory and more of a build of their friendship. Zoe, for instance, agrees to go with Ella despite the fact that she says there are people randomly walking around and killing people. Surely she would be a bit more sceptical of someone?

There were quite a few things that didn’t match up with me in this book, but it was an okay read. As it happens, I’m quite eager to see what happens next and see where the story leads after the cliffhanger we were gifted with at the end of the book. Good going Sparks! You’ve got me wanting to read more.

I was so excited to read this book. I'm absolutely terrified of zombies, but I've been wanting to read something like this for a while.

This book is seriously action-packed. I mean, the moment you calm down and think like 'okay, now we can rest,' something happens and all the characters are running for their lives once again. I seriously liked that. In a zombie book, action is what you need, and action is what you will get in Enrule.

I really liked that there's more to the story than just another zombie plot. Like, there are soo many questions, especially surrounding Ella (the main character) and her family. It sucks so bad that I have to wait 'til the 2 book to figure things out!I feel like the 2 book is probably going to be even more awesome than the 1!

The characters; I really did enjoy the characters. Ella is an amazing mc. She's not annoying at all, which is usually the case in 1st person (in my opinion). She's strong, brave but also makes mistakes, which is nice, she's not perfect. I love Troy, though the book was quite short, so we didn't get to know a lot about him, so i'm hoping we will in the 2 book!
Zoe and Kira were also my favs! The same goes for Kira as for Troy, i felt as though I didn't get to know her as much as I would've liked! I'm hoping in book 2 we will get to know the characters so much more.

Even though the book doesn't have a lot of description, I could still picture it all perfectly in my mind as if it were a movie, which was awesome! I'm sad it was kinda short, 'cos now I have to wait for the next one!

Overall, this book is intense, fun, had great characters, great plot, and was pretty amazing. I definitely want to go and find some more zombie books now!:)

Being a 21 year-old male I am admittedly not the desired target audience of this book. However, after reading the book, I am confident in saying that this book was a joy to read; there was either romance or action on every page. Ella is a character of deep strength, carrying on with life despite the devastation which ripped her family apart; her journey through this book depicts her struggle to come to terms with her, as well as the world's, future. Troy is a strange character who is hard to understand, he always seems so mysterious, so isolated, and yet likeable at the same time, if there is one this I do know about Troy its that if your in a zombie fight ... make sure he is on your team. The other characters which we meet along the way, Kira, Dale, Mark, and Zoe also help to bring the story to life, not to mention help Ella out of a few tight situations. Admittedly all the talk of male muscle did have me blushing a little, but, as I said earlier, I know this book is not aimed at the male gender too much. The fight scenes were written with great intensity, I thought, and the suspense leaves you wanting to keep reading. Finally, this author also knows how to keep readers wanting more, the ending of this book leaves you wanting the next instalment and the mysteries within the book draw the reader to keep turning the pages.

This book was absolutely awesome!! This could totally be turned into movies like the maze runner or hunger games. Holly Sparks you are an absolutely amazing writer and I can't wait to read your other works!
Ella by far is one of my top favorite characters right now. Everyone thinks she all weak and stuff then she turns around and becomes 100% badass to save the people she cares about. I can't wait for the next installment of the series!
Zoe is also kinda of a badass she's this little innocent nine year old that is like armed like a skilled assassin, which is completely awesome.
Then there's Troy, talk about protective. He's always there for Ella and Zoe and even Dale. He definitely has feelings for Ella which I feel like he wants to act on but then he thinks, the world is ending should I really think about getting laid?? So it's almost like he's afraid.
And Dale, he's that lovable character that will always be friend-zoned by the girl although he is quite attractive.
And who could forget Kira the best friend who would do anything for Ella and would start a fight with anyone she didn't like.
But like I said I can't wait for the next installment

To be honest, I didn't really like Ella that much in the beginning. I thought she was a silly, reckless girl. And I never got the "woah" feelings for Troy... I guess I liked Dale a whole lot better. He's my kinda guy ;-)

I was really afraid I was not gonna like this book at first. Since I didn't really feel a great connection to any of the characters.
But let me just tell you...
Everything changed when Zoe entered the pages! It's unbelievable how one character can change a whole book into something SO good! And it was not even the main character. Everything after that just went so awesomely smooth, and before I knew it I was on the last page.

I'm sorry Holly Sparks, I cannot give you a 5 star review. I'm leaving those 5 stars for your next book, cause I'm sure that one is even better ;-)

Four stars for the very strong theme of not giving up on hope and defending friendships in a world that is falling apart. Five stars to the theme that deals with сonspiraсy when it сomes to another layer of humans and inside affairs соnсerning the well-being or ruin of the world.
Three stars for the zombies, as they're not my favourite сup of tea when it сomes to monsters, as well as for the quite musсular guy who rakes his hair way too muсh (I don't like musсular guys in general ;d).
I liked Ella a lot; her way of thinking and nervousness when it сomes to proteсting the ones she сares about; her non-stoppable awareness of the surroundings.
Absolutely great ending, great сliffhanger. I feel like this first book was just the tip of the iсeberg and I think Holly has something way more menaсing to reveal in the next one! Definitely will grab when it's available!

I really enjoyed this! It was action packed and mysterious, and surprised me how interesting one journey could be. I mean it is in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

I really loved the characters, even if we didn't get to know much about their pasts or how they came to be the way they were. Maybe we'll learn more about them in book 2. But they were definitely a fun bunch. I absolutely loved Zoe! She's definitely something!!

I loved the zombie aspect of the book, but I don't know a lot about them. I'm definitely very uneducated when it comes to zombies.

The end. Without spoilers, I kind of expected the end, particularly after certain ends transpired since it was mentioned in the very beginning. Parts were definitely a surprise, but the last words didn't really surprise me because I didn't trust a certain character to begin so it would make sense they would be there at the end.

Holly Sparks is a new author to keep your eye on. I don't often read books with this concept. With that being said, I have to tell you that I fell in love with Enrule. Sparks has created a world that the main character, Ella, must navigate carefully in order to survive. Ella is strong and determined, the supporting characters are well-written, and the description sucks you right it. The writing flows smoothly, and there are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. I'm so impressed with Book 1 that I'm actively wishing for Book 2.

I absolutely loved this story! It was action packed and kept me intrigued throughout the story. It was a fast-paced read and I loved every second of it! I loved all the characters, they were very well rounded and they were overall amazing. Ella was such a strong female heroine, I loved her so much! But my favourite character was Zoe! I can't wait for the second book to come out!!
