So I initially rated this a 3.5 star, but upon further reflection and some pinot noir, I'm feeling gracious.

description

Not about the pinot part.

About the being gracious part.

Because this book doesn't need my pretentious graciousness.

It was awesome all on its own.

Haha, tricked ya.

description

Sorry, that^^^ probably made no sense whatsoever.

But I'm watching The Avengers in the background as I write this and I'm feeling very... avenger-y.

And horny, because well:

description

Oh, le super swoon.

But anythorbabies, this book.

I was looking forward to this book - Bo and Nyx's book - based on the foundation laid out for them in books #1-3.

Bo was as obsessed and possessive as I wanted him to be and Nyx really came into her own as well.

In previous books, I must admit that she seemed kind of one dimensional - while in contrast, Bo was VERY fleshed out dynamic in my mind. So I was pleasantly surprised by her in this book.

I really enjoy Reus' writing and the world she has built in this series.

So why not 5 stars? And why an inital thought of 3.5 stars?

description

1) The "Realm" Jumping...

...was not my favorite thing.

As I said above, I enjoy the world Reus has built.

On EARTH.

Not this other "hell realm" or some such nonsense.

Not my cuppa joe, homies.

2) Very limited shifter interactivity...

...which was a bummer.

Something I love about this series is how all the characters work together and interact - with the Stavros pack kind of at its core.

But that was missing in this book. Sure, we got to see Victoria and Drake a little bit. But the scenes they were in felt very superfluous and really did nothing to enhance the story line.

And, as I said, a lot of the action in this book happened in that weird, aforementioned, hell realm.

2) There were NO DRAGONS....

...or at least not much of them.

description

Ya'll know how much I love my dragons - thus my unending lurve for books two and three.

So after enjoying them for two solid books in a row, perhaps I was left in a state of dragon withdrawl during this forth installment.

Thus, the only drawbacks of this book for me were completely personal.

The story was there, the writing was there, the enjoyment was there.

It just wasn't my favorite so far in the series.

That said, something I DID really enjoy about this book and the ONLY thing I enjoyed about the visit to the hell realm was the introduction of Bo's brothers, Ian and Rory.

I really liked them and I am hoping they get their own books soon...especially Ian...why you say?

BOOM.

Personal Overview

Bo and Nyx met in the previous book, Beyond the Darkness. They were immediately draw to each other, but none of them knew how to really deal with this attraction.
Bo is a half demon, the result of demon raping his mother. He was raised by his loving human mother, but he's full of self loathing of his demon part, because in his mind it puts him close to his father's nature, whom he hates. The moment he sees Nyx, his world view shifts and she becomes the center of it, even if she does see it. For the first time in his life he is overwhelmed with new feelings. He is such a strong and wonderful character, I admit I was surprised to love him so much considering his manwhoring past (pet peeve of mine), but we really feel that Nyx completely changed his reality and that his promiscuous past really was a consequence of his restless demon nature. And one he truly and deeply regrets.

“If I could go back and change how I was before I met you, I would. But I can’t. Sex and fighting are the only things that keep my demon at bay in this realm. Until you.”

As a reader, even with the occasional small OW drama and misunderstandings, we feel his shame, and never once doubt his loyalty to Nyx. I adored that he was celibate from the very moment he met Nyx, even fighting his very nature and his coping mechanisms, which reinforced his feelings and love for her, even more. And didn't have to fight hard because Nyx, even only his presence, calmed his demon.

“I never imagined someone like you existed, Nyx. And definitely not for me. I feel like I’ve been living in a haze until I met you.”

Nyx is a half demigod, half fae princess, who's searching for her own place in the world, since she was always controlled by their selfish and uncaring parents. This quest brings her to Bo's supernatural club, were she meets her fate, even if she doesn't realize it at the time.
She is strong and sassy, but also one of the most selfless characters I have ever read, she truly puts everyone else's needs in front of her own, even if it means putting her own life is at risk. Something that Bo's is not allowing, only if he's there to protect her every step of the way.
Bo's protective and possessive side are just part of reason for her attraction to him. What he doesn't realize is that she is just drawn to his half demon as she is to his human one.

Throughout this book's journey, they both discern that they can't deny those strong feelings, and that the things they fear are going to be rejected by the other, are in fact part of their allure to the other.

“I know I’m not good enough for you so I get your fears because I have them too. I’m terrified you’ll wake up one day and realize you can do so much better than me.”

Bo's possessive and primal demon side is only more enhanced, complemented by Nyx's sweet and innocent nature. I adored how incredibly devoted he was to her, showing us his sweet side, within all that alpha hotness.

Once their magnetism combusts and they give in, it translates in some steamy, off the charts sex scenes, where we can really feel Bo's demon nature uncontrollable necessity to claim her as his mate.

But all he wanted to do was keep her safe. Claim her. Make her his forever.

And Nyx, even though innocent, doesn't lack passion, and her chaotic demigod side sure spices things up! ;)

When they finally embrace the love and feelings they have for each other and realize that they are the strongest together and balance one another, they find out that their natures are the perfect counterpart to the other, that they truly complete as ONE.
The adventure side and all the fantastic secondary characters augment even more the appeal of this story and makes us want to dig into the side characters own story, to find out more about them, especially Ian and Rory, Bo's half brother.
Katie Reus creates these magical paranormal worlds with exciting and amazing characters that always leave us wanting more and more, and are without a doubt one of the best PNR books I have ever read, therefore an auto-read for me. I can't wait to dive in Into the Darkness!

“I don’t know if it’ll matter to you, but I want to get married. I’m half human and I want the symbolism.” Being mated mattered to him as well but he needed the marriage too. He needed it all from Nyx.
Her blue eyes brightened. “I’ve seen a lot of human movies,” she whispered. “I think you’re supposed to be on one knee.”
He was on the ground before she’d finished—and so was she.

The book of Bo Broussard (the half-demon owner of a supernatural-only club) and of Nyx (a beautiful waitress who we have just found out in the previous book that she is a demigod).
Sex is the only way Bo can tame his half demon self, but Nyx doesn’t have any experience.

We also have the first family of half demons in the series. It is time for Bo to meet his relatives, which at least they are kind of normal for half demons.

Nyx’s family on the other hand is a bit psychotic.

Nyx’s fae prince father is determined to marry her to another fae without asking her permission. Or Bo’s permission as a matter of fact.
As Drake said
“Bo clearly does not know how to act around his female. Once he figures out how to, they will be mated soon.”

Nyx’s lunatic goddess mother for unknown reasons will send Nyx and Bo at a Hell realm where they will need
-to sort out their relationship (Bo will act like a caveman in some hilarious situations),
-to survive (fighting scorpion-hellhound creatures, avoid bluish-green, horny demons, combating Koighans, i.e. Inbred half-demons) and
-to find an exit to the real world (two unexpected males will help them).

Arya the mother of Petronilla clan proves to be a tough cookie in this book and saves the day, while at the same time friends like Drake, Victoria and Finn will also help.

Overall a great robust addition to the series!
The world becomes a more complicated place with the addition of new species, new hybrid species and new realms.

I had my eye on this story for a ling time now. I adored the previous two books so reading this one was just a must. And I loved it! This story is full of action, badass characters and sexy times!

I fell for Bo right away and although he could be at times a real ass and a complete idiot when it came to his feelings for Nyx he still managed to make me believe in him and his ability to care for her. We get to see his growing obsession with her already in the previous book but to actually be in his thoughts was totally different and amazing at the same time.

Normally in his demon form he wasn’t protective of anything, his beast was more primal. But all he wanted to do was keep her safe. Claim her. Make her his forever.
...
Because once they crossed a line, he knew he couldn’t go back.

I think Nyx's biggest strenght and at the same time flaw was that she cared for those she hold dear too much, almost to the point where she only lived to protect them and not live herself. But thankfully she comes to see her mistake and takes a huge step towards being happy, together with Bo. I liked how sassy and spunky but also loyal she could be. Also, the fact that she knew how to protect herself was a huge plus. After all, she was the daughter of two powerful beings, that unfortunately had no clue what it meant to raise a child and how to be parents.

She was a strong woman.
He had to let her do this, be part of this. Even if it killed him.

It was a nice surprise to see Bo's new half-brothers, Ian and Rory. They sure knew how to have a good time and above all how to survive in the Hell realm. I have a feeling that without them Bo and Nyx would had a much tougher time getting out of there in one piece. Also, to see how they are with their sister was so cute and heartwarming. I'm sure we'll be getting more of those two brothers in the up-coming books.

Ian frowned. “Should we kick his ass? I think that’s what brothers are supposed to do. And I could use a good fight.”
laughed, most of the tension seeming to ease from her shoulders. “No one is kicking anyone’s ass. I feel like I should send his mate a sympathy card,”

All I can say is that I adored the characters and can't wait to see more of them in the following books.

Bo and Nyx were such a cute couple. It's funny to say that since both of them are pretty deadly hybrids. Nyx is this shy, bashful virgin who is one of the most powerful demigods. Bo is a reformed player, only due to meeting Nyx, and just as deadly. The way he stumbled over his pursuit of Nyx was adorable.

I'm really enjoying this series. All the characters are awesome. The plot in each book have been very exciting and I love how they bring out the alpha's in all these heroes. Plus we keep getting new characters to love. Onto the next book...

4 - "I'd know your eyes anywhere." Stars!

Katie Reus is without doubt one of the best Paranormal Romance authors around in my opinion, I have read quite a few of her offerings now including books released under her pseudonym Savannah Stuart, and I can honestly say there hasn’t been one I haven’t really enjoyed, whatever the genre.

I have a particular soft spot for the Darkness series, as it is the first set of books that I read by this author, and I have pretty much read everything I could get my hands on by her since then!

Bo and Nyx featured pretty heavily as secondary characters in the last book Beyond the Darkness and it was apparent as the story progressed that there was more to Bo’s feelings for Nyx than just employer/employee, but Nyx’s true heritage wasn’t initially known and when it is revealed towards the end of the book, you just know that any sort of relationship between a demigod and a half-demon, is not going to be smooth sailing.

She was his, even if she didn’t know it yet.

The other thing I loved is that Katie took this couples story in parts, to a completely different realm, it made the story a little different from its predecessors, it also introduced a few new characters into the mix, and I am hopeful that Katie has books in the works for Rory and Ian in the future.

"You’re coming back to me."

Once again the author has delivered a sweet, sassy, sexy couple, Bo is all-sorts of alpha, and I absolutely loved his internal monologues as he worked he way through his unexpected feelings for Nyx. Innocence against experience and in all the best ways. I won’t give much more of the story away as the beauty of it, is in its reading, but it was great to catch up with a few members of the Stavros Pack as the book progressed as well.

I cannot wait too see what books Katie has in store for her readers for the rest of 2016, and hopefully we will have more from the Darkness series, at some point in the future as well.

Re-read 24th - 25th May 2019

I was really looking forward to Bo and Nyx’s story.

Now while this is a another great read I have to admit it was probably my least favourite so far. I think the main reason was because a lot of the book took place in another realm. Now I liked that we meet Rory and Ian. But it took us away from the other characters and I missed them.

But it’s still a fab read and I’m moving straight onto the next book now.

Well what an eye opening instalment this turned out to be. Previous books seem to have revolved mainly around the dragons who inhabit this world although admittedly the author does include other supernatural creatures. Now this time it's all about Bo , a half demon and his employee Nyx, half Fae and half something much more godly! Nyx has kept her true nature secret but when she owes her mother a favour something dark and messy is about to hit the fan! Step forward protective Bo who has no intention of seeing Nyx in danger but a spell traps them both in a hell realm full of all kind of nasties !
These two have been skirting around each other and I guess it was only a matter of time before Bo stepped up to claim the woman who lights up his world. Nyx is independent though and doing her best to remind both Bo and indeed her parents that her life is her own. Sheesh with parents like hers Nyx does not need enemies ! Ok so there doesn't seem to be much love lost in Nyx's family but with Bo onboard her life is about to get much more interesting.
I loved the setting for this story as it came to life in the theatre of my mind. Bo may be demonic but Nyx is no shrinking violet and indeed embraces her own powers as the story progresses. Interesting supporting characters are introduced and who they are will totally surprise my fellow readers. Such an intriguing idea with action, suspense and of course a little fiery romance to round off this exciting instalment. Definitely my favourite in this series so far and works well as a standalone story so recommended to those like myself who enjoy paranormal romance

Hunted by Darkness is book 4 in the Darkness series. This time instead of Wolves and Dragons we get a half Demon. Bo was awesome, I loved his possessive and protective side. If your reading this series in order you're already aware that he has feelings for Nyx. Nyx is a Demigod/Fae Princess with a horrible family. I loved how most of their story takes place in a different realm and since their there Bo is in his true form which is a Demon. I loved how Nyx loved him no matter what form he was in and I loved how Bo started to feel better about himself and not ashamed to be a half Demon. I can't wait to read more in this series. I am especially looking forward to Rory and Ian. They were a great addition.

I really love how over the moon these heroes get. I'm normally one who doesn't care about the past. But the sexual references just were constantly brought up regarding Bo and the red door and everything. Then that he'd feel comfortable enough to hug half naked women grossed me out but also because I don't like same sex or menage issues. Its a taste preference that I'd rather my books be without them. I loved the secondary characters, especially his brothers.. Omg I see such amazing stories ahead. Bo definitely reformed from manho to devoted mate/husband .
Sweet sexy and suspenseful

He wasn’t above playing dirty to win her. He’d give her a taste of how good they could be together, bind her to him with sex, make her crave him the way he craved her so that she’d never walk away.

Nyx is a rare demigod, who is also half fae, and who recently saved a friend by asking her manipulative mother for help. But she had to promise a favour in return for this help. And now her mother has come to collect, but nothing is ever easy when it comes to her family, and danger is ahead.

Luckily for Nyx her boss, half-demon Bo Broussard has given her his protection and refuses that she does this favour alone.

With Nyx he’d felt like he was in a tornado since the moment they’d met. She confused the hell out of him. One moment he wanted to pin her down and take her, make her his, and the next he wanted to protect her from everything and everyone, including him.

Bo has been infatuated with Nyx ever since the first moment he saw her. He has a reputation of a being a player, but since meeting Nyx he doesn’t even notice other women. It’s only her for him, and he’s been patiently biding his time before he makes his move. But now suddenly Nyx’s life is in danger, and he will do anything to protect the woman who is his.

I simply adored Bo. I loved that after meeting Nyx, he never once thought of anyone else, he only wanted Nyx, forever. He was protective and so very possessive over Nyx, and that just made me very happy. And damn but he was sexy. Let’s just say that the man sure has some skills when it comes to the sexy times ;-)

The romance was hot and sexy and swoon-worthy. Just the way I need my romance to be.

I liked Nyx, and the fact that as the story progressed she learned more about her powers, and how to use them. She didn’t let Bo get away with this alpha attitude, and had no problem destroying his kitchen when he made her mad :-D

The plot was interesting and captivating. And I really liked Bo’s half-brothers who he meets for the first time in this book. I also enjoyed the fact that Ms. Reus laid the groundwork for the next book’s main characters, which I assume and hope is going to be Liberty, the human they saved from the hell realm, and Rory, Bo’s half-brother.

I love this series. It has all the different paranormal creatures that I love: wolf-shifters, dragon-shifters, fae, demons, demi-gods, gods, vampires, and witches. A must read for all PNR lovers.

This one felt a little different to the previous books in the series, I think because Nyx and Bo spent a fair bit of time away from the other characters and also because new characters that have me so intrigued were introduced. I so hope Ian and Rory get their books.

I was fascinated with Bo in his demon state, I think I fell in love with him a little more because he was so unsure of how people saw him like that. He was super possessive, alpha, growly, protective and just what Nyx needed.

Katie Reus is definitely one of my favourite authors - both paranormal and romantic suspense. Her writing just works for me.

I don't think I have heard this narrator before this series but he continues to impress me with the amazing performance narrating this amazing series.

In this installment, Nyx works at Bo's bar, while hiding from her family for reasons unbeknownst to her employer. Nyx is simply tired of being a pawn in her family's pursuit of power and so she wears glamour and works as a waitress while nursing an attraction to her boss.

Bo, half demon, half human bar owner, also nurses an attraction to Nyx but they both fight it for different reasons. When Nyx's family finally try to bring her home, Bo steps in to protect her which leads them to give in to their passion.

Bo and Nyx's story was a bit angsty, which I loved but it was truly entertaining. There was great chemistry, and a passionate love story. I was surprised to learn the full extent of Nyx's heritage. I was happy to know that Bo had half siblings. I love that the author keeps the prior couples integral to the story and everyone is connected is some way.

This series is the best dragon shifter series I've listened to and one of the best PNR series out there. I look forward to the next book.

I’ve read these all out of order but I have no one to blame but myself! Some just appealed more to me at first glance that I had to pick it up and read it ASAP. So although I think the story as a whole, would have flowed better if I’d read them all in chronological order, I still loved each and every one of them individually.

I think Bo and Nyx are by far my favorite couple. They were adorable! Nyx might be young and in a lot of ways, innocent but she was strong and loyal. Definitely a bad ass in her own right. Bo was an awesome H with all his growling assertiveness and sweet devotion to his h. He was respectful, protective and possessive. I loved that he wanted to claim Nyx for his own right from the start, no waffling or indecisiveness, he was an alpha who knew what he wanted and the end goal was always a HEA with his female.

There are some slight misunderstandings between them, Bo’s past and his feelings of unworthiness and insecurity when it came to claiming Nyx. Nyx’s self-conscious doubts regarding her lack of experience (she’s a virgin) and her psycho family but they work through it to finally claim their happy ending. This had a little angst and a bit of drama and a whole lot of fun chaos. The visit to the other realm was pretty cool and the fighting and gore fed my bloodthirstiness 
I read Rory and then Ian’s stories prior to this one and I liked seeing Rory meeting Liberty for the first time. I didn’t have a problem following his story in Into the Darkness but this added more layers to their story we don’t get in their book. Ian was still a hottie and even though I know he remains celibate for his mate for 50+ years I still liked reading the hints thrown out in this book about him. So swoon-worthy!

All in all, this series is awesome sauce and I love it! I’m working my way through it slowly but surely *fingers crossed* I can’t wait to read more about Cynara, we got a glimpse of Ophelia and there are so many others that need their own stories! Excited that I have a great series to stalk now! Lol 

Great story! I was eager to read Bo and Nyx's story since read the previous two books.

This book was so exciting that I didn't realize it was midnight already. Although Bo and Nyx were attracted to each other for a while, they didn't act on it until now. The world Mrs. Katie Reus created was fantastic. Couldn't wait to read Bo's half-brothers' stories.

Glad to read Victoria and Drake again, loved their book. (Taste of Darkness)

The only thing disappointed me was the ending part, felt rushed considering the excitement of the first half of this book. And it would be better if it was difficult to figure out who set the trap for Nyx and Bo.

Thank God, this was much better than Beyond the Darkness!

I enjoyed the adventure of Nyx and Bo! :)

Nyx was especially interesting: first she was insecure and naive, but when thrown into a dangerous situation she matured very quickly! At the end she confronted everybody with her head high! Yeah!!!

Bo was so cute with his insecurities too! He's such a bad ass alpha, but he has many issues with his half-demon status and he feels that he's not enough for Nyx! But his inner demon is very stubborn about who he want to mate that Bo soon relises that being not good enough is... a non-issue! :)

Strangely, I liked Nyx mother, even if she portraited here as a villain! I felt that she loved her daugther in her own way!

I'm looking forward to the next book!

I’m in love with the Darkness series by Katie Reus!

The fourth book in the series tells the story of Bo Broussard, a half demon who we may have known from the first book in the series but it wasn’t until Beyond the Darkness that we really got to know him. Needless to say, he’s also abso-f*cking-lutely incredible. Bo might be the badass demon in the town but he just found his weak spot.

Nyx us one of Bo’s employees in his bar. Nobody knows what she really is but her secrets are about to be revealed for Nyx is a demigoddess who owns a favor to the Goddess of Chaos, her mother. When her mother comes to collect on her favor, Bo steps in. If Nyx’s mother wants to send her on a mission so be it, but he will go with her and that isn’t negotiable. The mission is supposed to be an easy one and with Bo at her side, what can go wrong?!

This book was so amazing! I loved how protective Bo and Nyx were of each other though it killed them not to act on their feelings, they still held back just to ensure that nothing happens to each other. I really liked Bo! There were so many surprises and twists in the book and not just minor stuff but major, game changing important surprises. I was surprised about how little I knew about Bo and Nyx until their past was revealed. The chemistry between them was off the charts which was super awesome for me!!!

Hunted by darkness was incredible. For me, this was that book in a series where you know that huge changes are ahead and I can’t wait for them or for Cynara or Rory or Ian’s stories!

The books in this series are starting to blur- there is a sameness to them. Oh well.
And sorry for being a pedant, but I loathe the word "ungratefulness" when "ingratitude" is so much more elegant.
I know this author has a lot of fans, so good for her. But I think I'll stop now.

3.5 Stars, ARC Review

Because of a promised made to her mother in the last Darkness book, BEYOND THE DARKNESS, Nix owes her mother a favor. This favor transports her to a hell realm where she and Bo have to fight for survival. We are also introduced to Bo’s half brothers, who will surely reappear in future books.

This book is pure adventure fantasy, with an emphasis on adventure. While in the hell realm, Bo and Nix have to overcome strange creatures, unknown flora and fauna, and other bad demons. I couldn’t help buy envisioning a Jurassic Park type setting, except with alien creatures instead of dinosaurs. This section of the book is a fun fantasy itself.

Also, because Nix is a demi-god, her family’s dynamics is tense. Her father, a fae prince, is determined to see her in an arranged marriage, despite her wishes. There is a clash between her, Bo, her father, and future fiancé.

If the book consisted of only the hell realm adventures, it would’ve been a fun, albeit short book. I don’t expect these types of adventures to go to deep; I just want to be entertained with suspense, fighting, and maybe a terrifying creature or two. However, by including Nix’s estranged relationship with her father, it leaves me a little disappointed because I want more. This part of Nix’s story has lot of great emotional potential. Ms. Reus introduces crazy family dynamics that I feel could’ve been explored further. I would’ve especially liked to learn more about her father. He is a two dimensional character. He is selfish, controlling, and way too status conscious. How in the world did he end up with Nix’s mother, the goddess, Chaos? It is difficult to see him as more without more dialogue. Days after finishing the book, all I remember is that he is growly. I did not feel that her father needs to be redeemed, but it would make her conflict with him more real.

IN A NUTSHELL:
Despite my criticism, I really liked this story. This is suppose to be (and is) a fun series. So if you want to take a break from reality and have a little paranormal adventure, try this book.

I received this ARC from the publisher, which in no way impacts the content of my review.

This is my favourite of this series yet! After seeing the interaction between Bo and Nyx in the previous book, I was desperate to see how this would go for them. Bo, a half demon and Nyx, a half demigod, half fae was such a great mix together. Their abilities made for a fun and interesting read, their chemistry was hot and add in some new allies and this was perfect. Great mystery, action and suspense, plus sweet romance and hot, steamy scenes, this was a great paranormal romance. I would definitely recommend to fans of this genre.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 9, 2016

From two different worlds…

Now that she’s escaped her oppressive family, Nyx is enjoying her new life and friends—even if most of her friends don’t know who or what she is. As a rare demigod, she’s just learning how powerful she truly is, but family drama turns her world upside down, throwing the one man she cares about into danger.

He wasn’t supposed to fall for her…

Nyx is nothing like the females half-demon Bo Broussard has been with. Sweet and innocent, she’s not even remotely his type. But the moment she walks into his bar, he knows he’s not letting her go. Unfortunately someone from her past thinks they can force her into an arranged marriage.

He’s not letting her go…

Someone is targeting one of them, and Bo doesn’t know why. When they’re thrown into a hell realm together, he and Nyx will need to band together if they want to survive the perils of that world. No matter who was behind the attack, his choice is clear. Defend Nyx at all cost and make her his forever.

REVIEW: 4.25 stars----HUNTED BY DARKNESS is the fourth installment in Katie Reus’s contemporary adult DARKNESS paranormal/fantasy series. This Is half-Demon/club owner Bo Broussard, and half –fae/princess Nyx’s story line. HUNTED BY DARKNESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Some of the previous story line characters play secondary and supporting roles.

Told from several third person perspectives HUNTED BY DARKNESS focuses on a favor called in by Nyx’s mother-a Goddess-who demands her daughter complete an assignment-on her behalf. What ensues is Nyx and Bo’s descent into one of the Hell realms where Bo will discover that not all is at it seems-Bo’s family is a little larger than expected with the introduction of two more half demons and the rescued human female known as Liberty; and the realization that Nyx has been used as a pawn in a Goddesses games.

We were first introduced to Nyx and Bo in earlier story lines but in Beyond the Darkness (Darkness 3 ) reveals a little more about Nyx when she aids in the rescue of one of the surviving dragon shifters. Bo owns an adult/supernatural night club where Nyx just happens to be one of his employees. Bo and Nyx’s relationship begins as friendship but Bo knows that Nyx is his fated mate. Whenever there are other males near, Bo goes into alpha/protector mode. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic.

HUNTED BY DARKNESS is an entertaining, colorful and captivating story line about friendship and family; heartbreak and betrayal; passion and over protective males. The premise is an exotic adventure into the underworld; the characters are impassioned and intense; the romance leads to a battle for one woman’s heart. Katie Reus’s DARKNESS series is a provocative look at the dark and dangerous world of the supernatural.

Review posted on Got Fiction?

This is the 4th book in Katie Reus’ Darkness series, and you can absolutely read it as a stand-alone. That being said, I read the series out of order and never felt lost, but I did get the chance to see Nyx and Bo throw some sparks in the previous book.

In this one, a favor Nyx asked of her mother in the last book is being called in. Her mother is the Goddess of Chaos so you know when she calls in this debt, it isn’t going to be easy.

When Bo realizes the new server in his bar is more than what she seems, he isn’t intimidated at all. He’s been interested in Nyx since day one, and no way is he staying behind while she goes on some crazy mission for her mother. Where Nyx goes, trouble seems to follow, and he finds himself wanting to protect her.

But this time, someone is targeting them, and he knows there’s more going on with this mission/favor for her mother than meets the eye.

With new friends, and some old friends, these two have to navigate the perils of this mission, and their budding relationship. I really enjoyed this book, and if you ever need a good series to binge, this one is perfect for that. There’s enough recap in each book to refresh you if you need it, but it isn’t so repetitive that if you read them back-to-back that you get annoyed.

If you enjoy good Paranormal Romance, this book (and series) will be perfect for you. And if you’ve been meaning to read a PNR, grab this book! It’s a fun one.

Nyx found refuge at Bo´s bar, and Bo who´s never wanted for anything, finds himself drawn to this mysterious woman. Secret abilities and dangerous relatives, but he can´t resist her.
When a past deal comes back to bite Nyx in her behind, Bo´s there to assist.
He never thought this would lead to them both having to fight for their lives, though.
Will they make it through, and unscathed?
PNR Romance, action, suspense and smutty fluff in a great combo.
Love this series!

I have to say since the 1st book this is the only other book that I can say I liked the female lead in this series so far. Nyx did a pretty good job of standing on her own and I appreciated that. Another good book to the series and this one had me a little more hopeful for stronger female leads to come.

This was a very good story and addition to the series. I liked both Bo and Nyx very much and their story was very good.

Nyx is a half-fae/half-goddess that works for Bo at his supernatural bar. Her mother had her for the wrong reasons and never really loved her. Nyx's father wasn't much better and only saw her as someone he could marry off in an arranged marriage. Nyx has a lot of power but doesn't have great control over it.

Bo is a half-demon/half-human that owns a supernatural bar (in addition to other businesses). Bo was born when his mother was raped by his father. His father wasn't in his life but Bo had a good childhood with his mother who loved him very much. Bo has always had a hard time controlling his demon, usually using fighting or sex to keep it controlled.

Nyx starts working at Bo's bar and makes friends with Keelin (from book #3) as well as some of the other locals. Nyx and Bo become friends but they both have issues that keep them from taking things past the friendship level. Bo wants to though because ever since Nyx came into his life, he hasn't wanted any other women and his demon is calmed by Nyx. Nyx holds back from her attraction to Bo mostly because she's worried about him coming to the attention of either of her parents and them causing trouble for him. This seems like a good fear when her father decides to send people to try to get her to come home to take part in an arranged marriage he set up for her without her consent. Nyx has no intention of following her father's orders and has enough power to keep from being pushed into the marriage but she worries that the issues with her father could cause problems for Bo and her friends.

In the previous book, Nyx needed a favor from her mother and agreed to a favor in return. Nyx's mother asks for the return favor in this book, asking Nyx to deliver a box to a place by a certain time. Nyx and Bo worry that it's a trap so they try to be cautious and scope things out ahead of time...not that it helps much. Trouble ensues and they end up in a hell realm for a while. Thankfully, while the trip causes a strain between Nyx and Bo, it solidifies the need on both sides and Nyx and Bo are both determined to pursue the relationship after that. They have some interesting encounters on their trip and come out of it ok and with some new allies. There are still some issues to handle, mainly Nyx's parents, but Nyx and Bo manages to get through them and end the story starting their HEA together.

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Nyx and thought she was a good heroine. I liked Bo as well and thought he made a good hero. TBH, the only complaint I had was that I felt like we could have used a bit more background on both MCs (it felt a bit lacking). Outside of that, I really liked the story and would recommend it. :)

* note - I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did a very good job.

OOOO Katie Reus had delivered once again! In the fourth book of her delicious Darkness Series, we get a trip into hell, well a hell realm, and what a wild ride it is! I have followed this series since it's inception and I will say, this is one of my favorites. It has, wolves and vampires and dragons and demons and... yep it has the entire supernatural world spoken for in force.. YAY..

Bo Broussard is not your average Demon, nope, he's a sexy as all get out half demon who has spent his life on earth trying to not be his father. But he's also a demon with a demon's needs and there are plenty of women who are willing to fulfill them. These days he settled in Mississippi and the owner of a Supernatural Club. The happenin place.. Life is good but his new server Nyx has gotten under his skin. She's quiet, reserved, conservative and has family issues of her own, just what he isn't looking for. So of course she's the one for him.

Nyx has an interesting lineage, she's half Fae Princess and Half god.. Yep she's a demigod but has no desire to be anything but herself. She doesn't want to play into the family dynamics. Wants nothing to do with the slimeball Fae her father wants her to marry and her mother? Well, she's kinda crazy, since she's the goddess Chaos.. All she wants to do is life simply and if she's lucky capture the attention of the oh so sexy Bo Broussard..

Of course attraction is good but action is better and Nyx and Bo are on a mission. Having asked her mother for a favor (in Beyond the Darkness) she is now forced to return it. But her mother certainly doesn't have Nyx's best interests at heart and Nyx is more than a little worried.. as she should be.

Where to go from there? Anything more makes this nothing but a book report, lol.. what I will say is that there is a drop into hell, family dynamics like nobodies business and a fight to survive. All along Bo and Nyx are developing a relationship that just might stand the test of time.

Katie Reus knows what she's doing and with Bo and Nyx she shares a complicated, layered relationship about two people who have to defy their very genetics to become the awesome people they are today..

I find that Katie is no longer becoming an author of note, nope, she's arrived. Great book.
