Gives a few tips on how to speed read. I think I need to work on eliminating subvocalization. I never knew how anyone could listen to music while they read - never mind hum or sing a song while reading!?. Reading for me is a peaceful activity. I enjoy the quiet with only the sound of my (inside) voice. I chew on every single word if the book is rich with hues. I'll put my finger over a single word, close my eyes and absorb all the light that it gives. I'll chew on it and then, gently proceed to the next.
I am a slow reader and I think I'm ok with that..
But- this book is great because it offers instructions that maybe someone like me should practice.
This is a short read that explains different methods of reading and comprehending faster. It was not exactly what I was expecting, as some of the methods did not seem to help with reading speed (for instance, repeated reading and paired reading). However, I did find the subvocalization section interesting and will try it in the future.
