About the author

A native of Texas, Marc Cameron is a retired Chief Deputy US Marshal who spent nearly thirty years in law enforcement. His assignments have taken him from rural Alaska to Manhattan, from Canada to Mexico and points in between. A second degree black belt in jujitsu, he often teaches defensive tactics to other law enforcement agencies and civilian groups. Cameron lives in Alaska with his wife and BMW motorcycle.

It happens that I skipped from the 3rd to the 6th in this series, so I was missing some narrative threads.

This is a fine action/adventure thriller (okay, I am tired of the Chair Force joke now) with Jericho reaching superhuman status as he fights vicious killers after wounds that would have dropped most men. The strong female characters are enjoyable to read, and it is interesting that while there are four tough women, Cameron has managed to make them fairly distinct from one another except for one obvious and fits-the-plot resemblance.

The settings range from K2 to Croatia, Kashgar to Seattle and yet with all the (well-researched) action, Cameron turns the occasional poetic phrase: "sun wallowed toward the horizon" "indigo shadows of dawn" "hoof jelly" etc.

Cameron brings the continuation of his high-impact story to a head with this great piece of action. After a devastating biological attack, America is in political ruins. The President of the United States has no real control of the country, bowing to terrorists and a vice president, Lee McKeon, who has his finger on the pulse of what is needed while he forges into new and devastating battle to sink the country once and for all. With Special Agent Jericho Quinn on the lam, he is unable to stop what is sure to be a horrible stand-off with the Chinese. Two Chinese terrorist have escaped from their Pakistani prison and are headed homeward, where they possess the ultimate of weapons, the Black Dragon. It is only when Quinn learns of this weapon that he realises the extent of the trouble America faces. Meanwhile, with key members of the former cabinet either in hiding or custody, a plot to remove the Administration is underway. However, use of an ultra-vigilant security agency keeps the POTUS and VPOTUS firmly in power. Quinn uses connections within the Chinese hierarchy to help propel him back to America, where he alone might be able to stop the atrocity before America succumbs to the ultimate political defeat. A powerfully written piece that will keep Cameron fans itching for more.

While I had some trouble getting into the novel, I suspect it was more my mindset outside of being a reader than anything else. Cameron utilises his usual recipe for success, with strong characters, humour, and high-paced action all set against the ongoing dilemma of the American political system. In this novel, he expands the reader's mind with knowledge of back country Chinese goings-on and the nuances of the arms war between America and China. With succinct chapters and interesting plots, Cameron is able to steer the story as easily as Jerico Quinn might one of his specialized motorbikes. Well written with just enough to keep the reader wanting another novel, to push the story further.

Kudos, Mr. Cameron for another Jericho Quinn thriller. I have been a fan for a while and do not see myself shying away soon.

The epic saga resolved. A very satisfying end to this great story. The characters and mystery fully lived up to expectations. Perfect endings were dealt to the bad guys. Can’t wait to see what is next for Quinn and Company.

Difficult to get into.

Country is running with acting Vice president and acting President. You have to read the book 5 to understand this. They hate each other, one wants to start a war with China. If you didn't see the YouTube video of a goat sacrifice it's described at the start. Violence, many fights with different objects, in Asia, Europe and US. Read his other books, but this will be my last one.

Audiobook Review - Brute Force - Marc Cameron
In author Marc Cameron’s Jericho Quinn series, I enjoyed this story - “Brute Force” - the most. Lots of twists and turns, friendship and fellowship and plenty of action! Brute Force is a Jericho Quinn action thriller that only Cameron could have written. His unique plots and non stop “who knows how it will end” action continues his march to the top of the action thriller genre. The attention to detail and depth of character development is second to none. Cameron’s development of his characters is top-notch. In this series, readers get to know and understand special agent Jerico Quinn, but also his agent girlfriend, “Ronnie” Garcia and his one-eyed former Marine fellow agent, Jacques Thibbodraux. Brute Force is an another Cameron Jericho Quinn thriller that is underrated in my opinion. Marc Cameron writes what he knows. He knows guns, martial arts, law enforcement and motorcycles — having worked in law enforcement for thirty years before writing Westerns (Mark Henry) and thrillers. The Jericho Quinn series shows his confidence not only with his knowledge of combat and techniques, but also the places, languages, politics, and characters that he brings to his tales. And I just love the Alaskan tie-in which is where he resides. Marc Cameron is one of my Top 5 Favorite Authors! If you love thrillers, then you will definitely like the Jericho Quinn series.

Meanwhile, our heroes are hard at work trying to find and capture the “evil brothers” and the bomb. Strong female presence and fighting skills-even a mother and daughter…Enjoy

This political thriller is the sixth book in a series featuring main character Special Agent Jericho Quinn. Months of living as a fugitive from the United States Government has left him looking haggard and worn. Formerly an agent with OSI, or the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Quinn is working on covert missions with other US military personnel and the National Security Advisor to the former President. Current President Hartman Drake is being controlled by terrorists and Vice President Lee McKeon is working with international weapons dealers to shore up his defenses and show force to all that might dare to oppose. It is up to Quinn and the rest of Winfield Palmer's team to restore the United States and save it from tyranny.

Fast paced with great action sequences, Brute Force is a well planned and thought out international thriller. Although I am clearly missing some of the nuances of Quinn's character, due to the fact that this is the first book featuring him that I have read, I was still able to get right into the novel. Because this is a political thriller where the world is on the brink and America is in shambles, I am rather glad to not see a whole lot of realism here. If this book resembled real life, I might never sleep again. My only advice to readers is to perhaps start with the first Jericho Quinn novel. I think he is a character who is worth getting to know instead of reading about him in the middle of his career.

I have to put this book down as one of my favorite fun ways to enter the world of spydom, that's what's so marvelous about books you can imagine yourself as tough as any of these guys, in real life I am 80, a great grandma with a bunion (that hurts). I started reading this series with #5 I liked it so much that I started over at #1 and just finished # 6 last night. I particularly like the fact that Marc Cameron really does travel to all the places he uses as background because I have been to most of them in my life time with the exception of the parts of China that border alone all the Stans, I have never been to the Alta area of Afghanistan nor any desire to visit outside of a book, Thank you Mr. Cameron and the late Mr. Flynn for telling me all I need to know about those delightful places. This particular book does send Jericho and Song (the beautiful, savvy and talented in more ways than one, a blood thirsty Chinese spy) to Southern Croatia, it is just as ruggedly beautiful as he describes. I got such a kick out of Jericho describing Italy has having a Mafia in it's cities, but that Croatia is a Mafia with cities. My parents came from Zagreb and Trogir just before WW1 to the US, guess they were pretty tough too because they thrived here and would roll over in their graves if they knew our country hands out money to new entries to the country. But I digress........ Jericho and Song are on a hunt for the Black Blossom a thermo weapon capable of killing thousands but portably compact, made by the Chinese, can be used by one and it is now in the hands of Jihadi terrorists, the terrorists are planning to start WW3 between the US and China by murdering the US President while on a visit to Seattle. Thiebadeux, Miyagi and Garcia all have important parts in this and they all save one another at some time. Everybody ends up in Seattle where everything come to a head. Oh, and I should say that Ran and her mother Miyagi come face to face in the first part of the book, Ran takes off determined to kill her mother the next time they meet.
No spoilers here, but the cymbals are crashing in the last chapter with tons of satisfaction for this old lady!

I haven't read any of the previous books in this series...and I really think I should have before starting this one. I felt a little behind on the action - but that hasn't affected this rating...

As for being an action/political thriller, this books really hits a lot of the targets I set for it. Firstly, a story that sounds plausible - and this one does that admirably. Chemical weapons, political intrigue, security and surveillance...I did enjoy all of those aspects.

The characters - especially the females in this story - were very good. Sure, Quinn is almost a superhero figure in this story, his character is excellent. His motivations are strong and he has a good relationship with those around him.

Finally, as with these sorts of stories, the ending can be a little disappointing and, sadly for me, this one was just a bit sudden. It all wrapped up perfectly, but it felt to me like it needed to be finished....and then it was.

Overall, a great action thriller novel - but I do recommend reading the previous books first.

Just having completed a great thoughtful read, I was looking for something lite and action packed. Escapism and no need for a dictionary. (No disrespect is meant to Marc Cameron.) I needed a thriller. Unfortunately, the 6th in the Jericho Quinn series was a little disappointing.

First of all, it kind-of jumps into the series – and to a new reader, I wouldn’t jump into the series here. But OK, since it’s in the action/thriller genera, the detailed origins of the plot may not be that important. ... In short, terrorists want to start a war between China and the US. (BTW, the existing US President and VP are ‘bad guys’ with Pakistani and Chinese ties.)

It has the usual reoccurring (and interesting) characters and in this episode, Quinn and Jacques Thibodeaux are fugitives but still – and once again – trying to save the world. There’s a good rescue scene and plot surprises but this book could’ve/should’ve been part of the prior novel ... It would’ve read better i.e. there would have been no necessity for the author to explain what happened in the past. (Obviously, this wouldn’t have been good for the publisher though.) Nevertheless, I still like the series and I will chalk this one up to “not the author’s best” – and I’ll still probably buy the next book.

Another good novel in the Jericho Quinn, special ops hero. This book is part of a series, so it would help if you have become a part of the Quinn universe, flowing the books.. I have but it was a while between novels, so I did not recall all the facts. Nevertheless, it hardly mattered, since I was soon back in the whirlwind of almost non- stop action.
It is an exciting novel, and the characters have been expected with the addition of an agent of the People’s Republic of China. She, Quinn and his close friend , Jacques,, ex USMC, are trying to stop action which will result in in Sino-American war.
Spanning the world from the western borders of China to Croatia to Seattle , theirs is lots of macho action, violent hand tomhad and a big gunfight at the end. What’s not to like?
All fans will enjoy this book written y a master of the genre.

finished yesterday 7th september 2022 good read three stars i liked it kindle owned one of the few purchases this year benefit of a gift card on turning another year older. an elected president and vice president are hell-bent on destroying the u.s.a. with help from foreign allies. an entertaining story. unfortunately, i saw headlines from a news source i trust...about a lawsuit to do with our first amendment...seems there's no shortage of those unelected, accountable and unavailable willing to join forces with the legion of others big tech among them, willing and able to censor the truth. there's nothing to celebrate in this country the 4th of july. we've grown accustomed to tolerating evil and there's every indication the downward spiral will continue unabated.

That's why they call it fiction!

Secret agent man combined with Jason Bourne and Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible. I completely enjoyed this novel, even as I kept saying, "That's not likely!" An example is the protagonist beating up on a highly trained martial artist by working up his arm, stunning him. That's a valid attack that I was taught, as well, and it does work. A trained martial artist would never stand there and let you have anything but the first blow. There were so many, "No ways!", in this yarn but I didn't care. The author had me and just kept me wanting to suspend my disbelief just a little bit longer throughout this novel. That's the author's job: To get me to suspend my disbelief enough to just sit back and enjoy the ride, and he did that well.

I enjoyed Brute Force, and would go as far as to say it's the best in the series since Book 1. It's another well written and fast paced Jericho Quinn novel, and after so many frustrating cliffhangers it finally puts an end to the whole "the President and Vice President are secretly terrorist moles" far-fetched storyline. Not to say it's necessarily a satisfying ending - some closure for Emoki Miyagi is sorely missing - but after dragging it out for so many books, I'm just glad it's done for and hopefully we can get back to the Quinn that was so awesome in the first novel and the more stand alone storylines. Hoping for the best for Book 7!

(3). Jericho is on the run, and he is in top form. The crew is all here, Ronnie, Jacques and a few others, but Jericho is still the star. This story pulls its own weight a little better than usual, and the good guys are fighting for their lives. A new sidekick appears and she is a nice addition to Quinn's arsenal. It has been a very entertaining series to follow, I will continue on. Good stuff.

The never-ending tale finally-finally-finally stumbled its way into the most convoluted and unfulfilling ending possible. It was definitely not foreshadowed and came out of nowhere so an extra star for imagination. I have been rough on this series but I have to admit the "writing" is good enough to keep you interested and willing to go along for the ride. Some in this genre don't have the ability to use words to truly paint pictures, but Cameron does.

Another amazing Quinn chapter. Jericho got caught up with a good Allie in Song. She kept her promise to Jericho till end. They got rid of Drake and Ran got rid of Mc Keon as he dared to betray her . Got what he deserved. And poor Song lost part of her foot but she was able to retire to pursue her music. But at least Win Palmer is back in play. Can't for next chapter !!! 10 stars plus !!!!! I approve the Cajun in this book. The author got almost everything correct and I can say that because I was born and raised on The Bayou. For me this added another level to the story of course because I could relate more personally to one of the characters. However the whole story, the entire tale was outstanding!!!! I’ve only been reading this author a short time, he’s rapidly become a favorite at the top of my list!

Lots of violence in areas parts of the world. There is a real possibility of another world war. The difficulties in this country are terrible with leaders who are not responsible for peace. The violence is difficult to read, but it is there. The characters are from this country and from others in the world. It is somewhat difficult to understand all the people and the various languages involved. It is interesting.

A lot of times I don't like how novels link together in a continuing theme. Not so the case with this group of books. Quinn is still being hunted worldwide as is his mentor Winfield Palmer. The President is a puppet for a VP with Islamic intentions. Quinn joins forces with a Chinese MSS agent to prevent an attack that could lead to war with China. Great read.

First class read

Yet again the author brings to life Jericho Quinn as the modern day action hero alongside his will to rid the world of the people who want to rule over the masses.
With the aid of his companions they face up to the threat posed by the bad guys and take up the challenge without any thought of the danger they face and succeed in bringing them to justice.

It is almost impossible to keep the story fluid and moving from one book to another but Marc made it look easy! You know when you hate the villains and cannot wait to see their comeuppance that the writer has done a helleva job! Great, great story and writing!

I don’t know if Cameron is running out of ideas or stretched too thin on material but I feel like there’s less content to Jericho than when I started reading the series. This won’t dissuade me from reading more but it’s just not as exciting so I probably should have given 3 stars.

Another excellent read as far as I am concerned as long as you don’t think too much! It was well written and really exciting from beginning to end which kept you turning the pages to late in the night. This was certainly a long story altogether involving the reading of four consecutive books in the series but I felt when it finally came to an end it was a very worthwhile journey.
