Blindsided, Part 3

Rate this book
She gave me custody. I can’t believe it. She just handed him over, no strings attached. I finally have what I’d come to Texas to get. But is it really all I wanted?

It is the day my fifteen-year-old son, the son I didn’t even know I had until a few months ago, is supposed to go before the judge and tell him which of us he wants to live with: me or his adopted sister, Penelope. But she apparently sat him down and actually asked him what he wanted, the one thing I failed to do. And he told her. He wants to live with me.

I seriously have doubts about this author. I got this book as part of a bundle. All her stories are great, until the end. This one again just ends suddenly. I was like, it’s over? I just don’t get why there can’t be a satisfying ending.

This is a review of all 3 books in the series. So bare with me. I'll try not to give anything away, although I don't know where book 1 ends and the others began being that I read them in an anthology.

Harrison is working for the family business he was forced into after his father dies. Working in business was never his calling, but he had to do this in order to take care of his mother and sister, and try to keep his brother out of trouble.

It starts with a harried secret, one that I didn't see coming. Being the person Harrison is, he needed to figure out how to make the right choice for himself while living and working for his other responsibilities. He moves from Oregon to Texas to determine to right the wrongs done to him, and he meets Penelope- the main person standing in the way of correcting his past.

Penelope and her little brother JT were together and struggling to keep their lives together. Their parents passed away three years prior, which is when she came home to Texas to make a life for her and JT. Of course this wasn't the life she wanted nor dreamed about, but she was making the best of the cards dealt to her.

This book had secrets and lies and love all rolled into one. I have really adjusted to this author, and the writing itself is very good. I wish the ending wasn't rushed., that's my only issue with this book. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
