Book 8 in the action-packed series! A remarkable discovery... A series of journals, penned by a genius, has been gathering dust in a Swiss library since the 1940s. Happened upon recently by a visiting American professor, the notebooks outline a medical procedure that is nothing short of astonishing. But will it work? There's only one way to find clinical trials. Nicholas Colt... Forced by the clandestine government agency he works for to change his name and alter his appearance, Colt now resides in Amberjack Heights, a small laidback beach community on Florida's Gulf Coast. Fishing, swimming, golf, tennis. Seems like the ideal location for a former secret agent posing as a retired police officer and part-time private investigator. Until people start disappearing. ... One with a twisted but possible plot. An interesting story that becomes a page turner, but at least "Retro" isn't bigger than life but down to earth.
A fantastic read. Loved the characters and story line. I always like Private Investigator stories. I love how they think and solve cases. This was a really quick read and it kept you on your toes at every chapter.
I look forward to reading more by Jude Hardin. This was a nice discovery. It’s not often I find an author outside my circle of favorites that I enjoy as much.
Excellent plot, well written, intense, fast paced, good ending and best of all absolutely no swearing, profanity or crudeness etc. very very good. Just how I like it!
Another great read. This one went quick, just two sittings as it was a page turner, well done. I really like his prose style, so there is more on the horizon. 5
I am a fan of Hardin's Nicholas Colt series and I like the Diana Dawkins/Jack Reacher Novellas. I hesitated in picking up this new series just because I prefer a series to be either finished or almost finished before starting since it usually takes Authors 6 months to a year to release the next installment. But, I'm glad I made the exception with this book because Cam Retro seems really, really familiar.
The little hints here and there about Retro's past is what made me want to pursue this story further. I'm sure as this series progresses, I will eventually get the closure I have been looking for in Hardin's previous books. This is a great idea to keep the story progressing even if it's starts in a new direction. Though this book reads as a standalone to a new series, there really is way more to it than what is presented at face value. To get the full picture I would suggest reading the Nicholas Colt series in order in it's entirety first.
I think I would have picked up this book a lot sooner than I did if it had been packaged differently. Starting with Thrasher's POV threw me off. The story was good and intriguing so getting to Retro's POV was worth it. I liked how the story ended, and it's clear that more is coming. If history repeats itself, Retro needs someone to watch his back. I'm very interested on how this new story line plays out and if the past will ever be resolved. I look forward to future installments, which I hope will be soon.
