This is a great reference book for those interested in South Indian temple architecture. It is also an extremely useful book to have if one is interested in visiting any of the sites included in its pages. Having visited almost all the temples and historic sites mentioned in this book, I can assure any casual browser of this book that it is truly worth having as a companion or guide for your travels. Ms Menon has very cleverly used black and white photography to highlight the pristine beauty of the temples featured in this book. Some sites perhaps deserve a bit more by way of details, but then this book does not claim to be a technical or architectural treatise. I would give an arm and a leg to have written this book! This book contains the journeys undertaken by Indira Menon recorded in journals and through black and white photographs. Wonderful read ( with equally wonderful snaps )
