Jim gave up everything for a new identity and a one way ticket to a fresh start: a colony light years from his criminal past, a harsh environment to be tamed for a better future. But elements of his past—a life of lab-spliced drugs and gene-spliced hoodlums—have the same idea. And they expect his help bringing the old ways to a new world.

Christopher Holliday was abducted from his home in Southern California at a young age and raised by wolves in small town New England. He spent the better part of high school writing stories in spiral notebooks, finished his first two novels shortly after graduation, and wisely shelved them.
An award winning author, he writes character driven stories with genre wide ideas. His publishing credits include dozens of science fiction short stories in magazines and anthologies, as well as mainstream stories in college and literary presses.
Holliday is the creator of Marketlist.com, the first digital market resource for writers. He has been a script and screenplay editor and story consultant, while continuing to write genre short stories and completing two soon-to-be-released novels.
Fast paced and descriptive. One of the best short stories I've read in this genre, and I read a lot. Drew me in from the beginning and held my attention to the surprise ending. Kudos to the author for excellent an excellent job.
This short story is an excellent variation on the reformed criminal as space colonist sub genre. I hope the artist develops this character further in a longer work .
