A short Christmas story featuring all of your favourite characters from the Witch P.I. Mystery series. Jingle bells, jingle bells... Jill and Mrs V are both in big trouble until salvation comes from the most unlikely quarter. ...custard creams all the way.
This short story from A Witch P.I. Mystery series was fun. I binged several books from this series a while back so it was nice to pop back in. And of course, I missed Winky so it was good to hear from him lol
no offense to the English but I forgot how the names of cookies and stuff is wild. . . Digestives? really? lol
This is a novella in the Witch PI mystery series and it's just as cute as the others. In the end it has a blurb from Winky the cat and I really enjoyed that. This story is about Jill's first Christmas after she finds out about her witch family. She is going to spend Christmas eve with Kathy and her family and Christmas day with her witch family. She was supposed to get a Total Dream Office for her niece, but its the hottest toy of the year and she procrastinated too long to get one! Winky saves the day and gets one. He also helps Mrs. V. in her goal to knit 100 socks for a charity. Winky is showing his softer side! Mikey also stops believing in Santa in this book, but thanks to Jill, she convinces him that Santa is real :) Christmas in Candlefield goes well and has the usually quirky antics of her witch family. The reason this isn't 5 stars is because I just hate how many men Jill is trying to juggle. She's casually dating both drake and jack, as well as trying to get her bookkeeper to meet her under the mistletoe. I'm still really enjoying this series. You definitely need to read them in order though!

Cute holiday short story that fits in nicely with the characters created in the main Witch PI series. I would say, though, that if the reader has not experienced other books in the series, this may not read as well as it could, as the reader will be at a disadvantage...readable just not as good. Having read #1 in the series, I was fine but obviously Jill has come a long way in her, well, witchy ways. Her family dynamic on the witch side has broadened, as one would expect. I believe Winky's attitude herein is a one-off...holiday spirit, if you will. I doubt he's a changed cat, but a short story like this is definitely the place to test out a change of heart. I could see Abbott writing other short stories from Winky's POV between the other books in the series, as Winky indicates at the end.
I like these silly little stories about Jill, a woman who discovers she’s a witch relatively late in life — most witches know at an early age. Jill was raised away from the magical community, though, so she was in her twenties before she began learning her craft. She’s much better as a witch than a detective (her day job), but both pursuits offer lots of adventures and scope for mishaps. Despite the many groaners of puns, these books are funny and charming, as Jill lives in her two towns, one the one she grew up in, the other, a few miles away but imperceptible to non- magical folk, where her family of supernatural people lives. This is a little tale about Christmas, and it is a very cozy read.
As much as I absolutely love the Witch P.I. series as a whole, I absolutely love this Christmas short. Winky is a fast favourite from book one and you are always left guessing what shenanigans he is going to get up to next. This is such a lovely heartwarming read. And I truly love Barry and his issues with snow, and the mix-up with the lunch dates. ;)
Finally finished this book. It's a very cute story but the ending is a little odd. It's as if the author didn't know how to end the story so she just stopped. "The End." I like that Winky has been given some personality in this book. His grumpy tude can be a bit much.
What a cute story. Having read all the books thru 31, I was taken back to almost the beginning, but I enjoyed it anyway. It truly is amazing all the things Winky is capable of doing especially since he is only a cat.
Good, Quick, Fun Holiday story. I read this at the end of 30+ books, mainly because it originally wasn't shown as book 5.5. It was still a fun and fast Christmas story reminding me how far Jill has come since then. Enjoy!
I missed this first time around. It was only when I was listening from the beginning again that I came across it. Lovely little Christmas story. And I like the way Winky got to chat to us. I love these books.
Absolutely wonderful characters that interact with each other beautiful! Fabulous plot twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series.
This was a book when the main character was young and single. It was like going back to an past time. I have read several books about Jill and enjoy them all.
